Morning.

Lots of little bananas running around.

Our passing is even more awfull than usual.
It's even more worrying when you see players discuss what they're going to do, c'os the lines are mucked up again.
-
Ovi looks annoyed. ;D
-
hard to score when they are in their own zone all the time
scoreless after one, luckily

Another same ol' same ol' period. :(

Is it me, or is ThomCat looking more and more like Holtby?
-
8 shots through 40 minutes. Look pathetic as a group. Not sure how ya fix that, but something needs done. Seems every team we play lately is in "perfect" position, the entire game? lol We have no ability to push back or dictate any kind of play.

I wonder how many giveaways we have so far this game? Our puck control has been poor.
-
did someone say pour?…
Okey dokey

You're right, Mick. For some reason the team's ability to generate offensive chances has suddenly disintegrated.
Quite a number of years ago there was a Boston Bruins team that had an extraordinary record in the first half of the regular season, then just wore down or slowed down or something in the second half and made no noise in the playoffs. This is feeling a little like that. Even though the team hasn't played as well as it did the first couple of months of the season, up until the past few games we were generating chances roughly equivalent to the teams we were playing. All of a sudden it has dried up, and we seem to be just hoping to connect on the few chances we get and hanging on.

Ta.
Lets hope we have one of those good 3rd periods.....
-
Is Ovi ever going to score again?
-
Could it be a locker room thing?

I know of nothing, but if it were, it would seem to have been something dramatic, because things really have seemed to change much for the worse just over the last few games.

Exactly. Maybe there's been a tiff. Pure speculation, of course, but why else the sudden and dramatic fall off the cliff?

8-0

Hopefully this is a turning point back to an upward trajectory. :cross:
ThomCat was really good tonight and congrats to Franky.
Sweet dreams peeps.

Every team has a lull in the season and maybe this snaps us out of it. Not a game they deserved to win and they had to be gassed, but they just kinda hung in there and LT gave them the chance. This could be a really good pivotal game for us.
I thought Fever and TVR played well. Sandin was great earlier in the year, but he makes me nervous now when he carries the puck.
I liked Mangiopani the last few games and he has played with energy and isn't afraid to go in front of the net and it paid off tonight. Well done.

Sometimes ya gotta shame em' into playing well. Whatever works! :snicker:
Rest up! Off until Tuesday, 7pm.
-
three stars of the game, which seems to awarded by the host arena..
#3 Logan Thompson
#2 Philip Forsberg
#1.. Ethen Frank
:)
-
Always say, ya gotta do something to get noticed, even if you're not on the scoresheet. Frank's production will slow down, but that speed can't be denied! Outrunning icings is a nice asset to keep yourself visible!

I'm going to carry that theme a little further, Mick.
Actually, a lot further. I saw a short time ago that the Caps had played more back-to-backs than any other team in the league, and of course, they finished another one last night. BUT now, the Caps have only one more back-to-back between now and the end of March. Their schedule in April is a little challenging, but until then schedule compression shouldn't be an issue. This is important for a guy like Ovechkin, whose minutes Carbery is controlling more than at any previous point in his career. Hopefully, between his 16-game hiatus and managed TOI from here on out, he will be relatively fresh when the playoffs roll around.

Winner Winner, chicken dinner.
Thompson looked good. Nice goal for Frank. PPG for Willie, working goal for Mangi. All good results from less than stellar game.
