Per Monumental Sports.. Craig Laughin will miss the next three games for a personal matter. Alan May will be the tv color commentator next to Joe B for the interim.
-
Hmm.. Hope all's is well with the Laughlin family!
Lets do this!!
They just said we're playing with 7 D tonight (McIlrath is in) What forward got scratched?
-
Lapierre is a “healthy scratch”
-
PP time
-
Healty scratch? Eeek. Didn't know he'd been playing THAT bad??
I suppose we've improved some on PP faceoffs. But if they keep a stat for "entering the zone" on the PP, I imagine we're at the bottom half of the barrel. I don't watch much other hockey than Caps games, but we struggle more than anyone we play, entering the zone.. :-(
-
Lapierre had been moved back to center with Eller out. Management clearly thinks he’s better at wing, maybe going back to center was messing up his game.
It is flu season, but when a player has the flu they don’t hide it.

Caps down 1-0 after one

Fart noise.. Not playing bad, not playing good. Just kinda going through the motions so far.
LILITH SURREY, YOU GET YOUR BUTT OUTTA THAT BED!!!! :raised-eyebrow:
:snicker:
-
Didn't think we played that bad, but we're gettin killed in every category.

VRANA
-
I guess that’s why Vrana is on PP2 in place of Miro
-
nother pk . .
-
The Snake!!!
Figures they'd call a tacky trip while battling for the puck. See if we can kill one!
-
1 to 1 after two
Pastrnak hasn’t played since about halfway through the 2nd, he was in obvious discomfort before that
-
nother pp . . . a 5:00 PP
Vrana to the locker room, hopefully temporarily
-
Ouch that was a pretty nasty hit Fehrervary took.😨
-
Caps are just under %20 on the faceoff
:O=
-
PP is ass.. Snipes are about all we can hope for. :-( We'll see, probably cost us at least 1 point.
-
piss poor power play.. pathetic even
-
Boston playing all of the 3rd without Pastrnak, and nearly the entire period without Wahlstrom for the hit on Fever

Can't get a 5 minute PP in the 3rd, not even put a shot on goal and expect anything good to happen after..
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!! See you guys after the break!
Hope Ovi is back Saturday at 7pm.
-
Caps and Bruins get to do it again on New Year’s Eve
-
Caps lose 4-1
:O=

Me thinks the Caps may have had their Christmas party last night......
The first period was lively, but after that not so much.
-
On the bright side, the Caps are doing much better than expected this season, so.. merry Christmas
-
This overtook the Chicago game as the worst of the season. 5 minute PP and no shots? They haven't been generating nearly enough shots on goal over the last 5-6 games. I'm hoping they wake up after this break because they haven't looked that good, even in the wins lately.
-
Yes and they were challenged physically. They held up ok, but by no means is this team nasty enough for the playoffs. McIlrath would help but he can't crack the top 6. I really wish they would get Alexyev in the mix and tell him he either uses that big body or he is gone. I'd like to see him replace TVR. I thought Roy was supposed to be a tough guy, but he is not that big or aggressive. He is solid and playing well, but not what I expected.
-
Roy's another overpaid for what he's bringing to the table. 5.75m x 6 seems like an awful lot of $$ to just be a decent blueliner. Maybe all the salaries for "decent" play are going up and I just haven't paid attention..

Roy is the type of solid plus guy you need on the blue line, even if he's not a big hitter. I think this was an excellent pickup by the FO, as was Chychrun. I love what Chychrun brings to the table with his skating and scoring ability but he's also just a year or two removed from a -30 season. So, if you have guys like him, you need guys like Roy to even things out. Frankly, the weakest link on the current defense corps is Carlson. He's slow and the number of times he turns the puck over in our own end is pretty frightening.
