Caps down 3-2 after two

nother pp . . . .

Wilson playing like he's drunk. Along with the rest of them. Stupid schedule. Too bad we couldn't see 2 good teams play w/o the back to back, 2 days rest, travel bullshit effecting it.
-
Yep.
Far too many give aways this game.
-
Way too little offensive zone time and way too few shots. They look fatigued, too. Even with that, the difference is that horrible line change that gave them a goal. That stuff can't happen.
-
:O= :O= :O= :O=
-
Lindy had a good game, kept the team in it
-
This team could still use a couple big bodied forwards to work the boards in the offensive zone. They get out-muscled too often. Another physical guy on defense wouldn't hurt, either.
-
Ho hum.
The 2nd of a back to back, with travel, we still managed to stay competative, so that's positive.
Nighty night peeps.

Ovi scored, we win!
Wednesday at 7pm

Tough loss. 🤮

Couldn't watch it. How did Milano do? I didn't think Vrana deserved to be benched - thought he had a good game last game. Also, how did Alexyev do? I think he has been steady and a bit more physical this year. I hate that he won't be getting further development once Chickryn and Roy are back.
-
Pffffffff.
we can whine about the 4 games in 5-6 days, plus ending with back to back games with travel, vs a team rested since Thursday, because that does really matter, but....
Carolina wiped the ice with us. We looked obviously fatigued, but it wasn't really a contest. They greatly outplayed us for 90% of the game.
Lindy looked great....the second half of the game, making some great saves, but honestly I want at least one of the 2 Orlov goals stopped...prob the 1st one. Giving THAT team a lead is a death sentence. Neither was a bad goal, but...you need those timely saves vs a great team if you want a chance of winning.
We can't continue to allow 3+ goals a game and expect to keep winning. Despite the run we've been on, I don't think we will average 4+ goals a game for the entire season so we need to tighten up on the goals against. Yesterday was different as Lindy was under siege for large portions of the game, but our goaltending has been not great for most of our season. It hasn't bit us because we've be on a scoring frenzy, but I seriously doubt that Ovie, Willy, Strome, Protus & McMike will ALL keep up the pace they've been on. (Caps please...prove me wrong)
Ho-hum. Caps were due for a let down. Hopefully they bounce back vs Nashville

0-2 with Milano
8-1 without Milano
That may be a small sample size but I wouldn't tinker with success. A slow Milano replacing a fast Vrana is not a good move.
-
When Milano was first brought in he was an improvement over what they had. But I don’t see that from him anymore, and I think it started at the end of last season.

TBH, i don't think this was anything other than coach getting Milano in a game. Vrana did look better the previous game, as did Lappy, and I expect they will be back for next game. Honestly I thought Sgarbossa had a good game vs Columbus, but unless Lappy is just not cutting it, I don't think Sgarbossa will get much work.
Milano and Vrana are about the same ilk in my book, both speed to burn and not much else, tho I do think Vrana has more scoring touch and better shot, and I do think a nudge faster. Neither is very good at board work or back checking, so I don't see either really blossoming on the 3rd line, but Lappy has pretty good wheels so maybe they can generate something.
I tried to look it up to see if I could find any data on who is actually the Caps fastest. Surprisingly, when I searched, Fehervary comes up with 24.21 MPH as caps fastest based on NHL edge stats this year, and McMichael shows up at 22.79mph. Can't find anything on Vranna
I found a stat from last year that Milano 21.44MPH (Kuzy was 21.55 and WTF?...Mantha at 21.73 for the Caps fastest forward)
Didnt mean to turn your comment into a stat page - I agree Milano is not an improvement over Vrana. Although Vrana (both) is somewhat defensively lacking, I do think he has a better chance of putting the biscuit in the basket.

Not so sure on those speed stats. Milano has never looked all that fast to me. Vrana, though he isn't what he was, is still much quicker.
