Might have to wait till puck drop for Pillys lines. Torts was changing them a bit during last nights game, I wouldn’t be surprised if tweaks them some more.

You never know when an aged player goes off the cliff. Ovie has had a HARD 20 year career. Maybe he doesn't get to 895.
In other news, Carlson is logging huge minutes again. Carbery said in the offseason that he shouldn't be playing 25 minutes a game, but here we are, and lo and behold, here he is playing 25 minutes a game. I know you folks don't like the way he plays, but the fact of the matter is that coach after coach, year after year, plays him the heavy minutes. And don't say "it's because of his big salary." Carbery didn't have any problems replacing the $6 million goalie last year when he didn't do the job. Carlson is played 25 minutes a game because the coaches have seen that as giving the Caps the best chance to win games.

Thank You Logan Thompson!!!! Should be #1 star.. Better take their next practice and figure out if they want to continue with PP's or just decline.. lol
Guess we'll see ya Saturday at 7pm!!
-
Another win. Not to be sniffed at. Well done fellas.
That monumental collapse at the end of the 2nd period is a massive concern for me. :raised-eyebrow:
On the plus side, riding out the storm was a good thing.
-
Im more concerned with the 0 fer (what 6?) PP again tonight. That shit will come back and bite ya sooner or later.

Sweet dreams.

Looking very good!
-
Great to see the Caps winning early in the season. They are building chemistry and confidence in each other. I hope the third line can start scoring too....Vrana/ Lappy and Mangipane
Always love seeing OV score!!!
-
Ovie might need 30 empty netters if he hopes to get the record this year. He's probably looked worse than anybody out there so far. Good to see them looking more like a hockey team again, though.
-

I agree. I did not like Carlson the first 5-6 years, then he turned a corner at one point and became a solid player, then he had upswing in scoring, etc. He is still no Norris candidate to me, but he is solid and reliable and plays in EVERY situation. I just always wanted him to have more snarl for his size, but its not his game. Carlson is one of our most reliable D-men in all situations so he gets the ice time. There is also the factor that the reliable stable D man they brought in (Roy) has been out for several games, AND there have been tons of PP and PK time. I think once the whole team gets in sync, Carlsons minutes will drop on average. He will still likely lead the team in ice-time because he plays in ALL situations.
I don't see any reason you cant put Chychrun out there for the PP or the PK, he certainly can move and shoot the puck. Roy could be a PK guy too. That would shave some Carlson minutes as well. Part of it depends on the pairings as well so...we shall see.
FWIW - I think Chychrun has been outstanding, and he is only 26...(which is only a year older then Fehevary and Alexeyev). They only have him on a 1 year deal at the moment, but he looks damn good so far.
-
Never minded Carlson's game as much as I minded his salary. He's in his golden years now though, so criticism has faded. He's an OG and does fine, stays healthy and minimizes the "Dylan" mistakes. They've said repeatedly on the telecasts he's getting all those minutes again due to Roy being injured. He (apparently) started skating again yesterday and should be ready to go sometime next week!
-

I actually think Ovi has become a liability on the PP. They just overload to prevent his shot and then we are stuck just passing it around the edges. Although Ovi is an excellent passer, he is slow and not the best guy for a quick passing sequence or skating with the puck. It is a big problem and I bet if Carburry could do what he wanted (especially if the team keeps winning and becomes more of a contender), he would take Ovi off the PP. Of course they will never do that.
-
Yea, his office is once again needing remodeled. Him and Carlson covering the blue line is also playing with fire. I think they were trying some new stuff early on this year. Ovi was parking in the crease, hoping/looking for tips and rebounds? But they've went back to the norm the last couple games. And have gone O-fer since..
But I'd rather them put him down low and let someone else cover the "office" areas. He'll drag at least one defender down with him and won't have to worry about skating 150' to cover a break the other way. Whatever they do, they need to do something. PP looks like :poop: currently.
-
PP is too damn slow. You watch other teams whistle the puck around and then see us and it's like half speed. They need to blow the whole PP up, both personnel and scheme wise.
-
Yes, we are very slow with passes and movement. I've wondered if it's a skill thing or something else. We also panic when pressured and we've seen the Flyers show teams that the last 2 games. Gotta figure that out. Dull PP's lead to anti momentum and will eventually start costing us games/points.
