If we want to see the Hens miss the playoffs, then the Islanders need to win. But, given all the injuries it might not be an issue. I suspect a few of these guys were playing hurt, and sat after the season was over.
-
So we really don't have anyone that can be brought up from Hershey for tonight's game? Hershey plays tomorrow night, so I could understand why they might want that player back, but they could play tonight and then return. I thought that was supposed to be one of the reasons for having your AHL franchise so close.
The more of this shorthandedness that occurs, the more I wonder if there might be a salary cap issue, with all these guys injured but not on LTIR so we don't get a salary cap exemption to bring up replacements.
-
It's the salary cap. They used some "emergency" clause to bring up Snively for tonight. (And they still only have 17 skaters) Must be more dumb rules that won't allow them to put Oshi on IR and bring more up. Like I said the other day, the NHL should allow cap flex to teams that are mathematically out, same as they do once the playoffs start.

I'm sure the league would argue that such a move wouldn't be "fair" to playoff teams that would have to play non-playoff teams that exceed the salary cap, when other playoff teams that played them earlier played a roster that conformed to the salary cap. Yeah, the non-playoff teams aren't as good, but if a playoff team lost games late to non-playoff teams above the salary cap, they'd complain that their playoff competition didn't play those "reinforced" teams.

The fuck? Strome -and- Sandine. 1:30 into the game. :raised-eyebrow:
-
Nice saves by Kuemper! :goalie: :raspberry:
IYKYK :snicker:
-
I hate to see the Caps lose again but I’d rather see the Hens miss the playoffs
:-|
-
Kuzy damn near gave one back
-
GOOOAAALLLL
SMITH
-
Damn, Kuemper pitchin' a shutout!
-
I'm sure the league would argue..
Probably so, just seem fucking stupid with a few games left and already eliminated we can't even field a full hockey team. Joe said he "thought" Boston would play their full team tomorrow. Said they called up 5 guys. 5 fucking guys?
-
Figures, we're jinx proof tonight.
-
Kuemper pitching a shutout after 2..
:uh-huh:
-
lol. I think it's too late.
-
Morning all, I dozed off again.
-
Whaat NOW K is going for the shutout?
:goalie:
-

-
well there ya go, it took Lil saying it to jinx him
:smirk:
I try..... ;)
-
maybe we let them get a point, they need something to stay in front of the Hens
-
goal
Strome
-
damn, this gives the Hens a chance
-
Can't even lose when ya need em' too. :raspberry:
-
It was obvious a few weeks ago that Pittsburgh had the easiest schedule to finish out the year. It was clearly going to be a struggle for Florida and/or the Isles if it came down to the end of the season.
-
i'm liking Strome more and more. Unlike Kuzy, who just wants to show off, Strome keeps it simple and if he sees a shot he takes it.
-
Can't even lose when ya need em' too. :raspberry:
I did try......
-
Didn't even know the game was last night :'( . Thought it was tonight.
Way to go Caps...One of the few times we actually wanted them to lose..
-
I watched the 9 min condensed version....figures Kuemper shows up for this meaningless game. Maybe he's got hope...but I figured him for a B goalie all along, not top tier - although he didn't live up to that B grade for portions of this season. And sadly, his best years are probably behind him.
Like seeing Strome score. Desperately gonna need that next year.
And figures with some of the regulars out the Caps show some hussle. Now I really wouldn't mind seeing them Beat Boston on ...
Wait, what....the game is tonight?- another back to back? Oof. Well I guess I get to watch a beating tonight.
