Gustafsson left practice early this morning, no word why or if he can play tonight. Snively filled his spot. Lucas Johansen fills in for Alexeyev on D.
frikin 9 players on IR right now

Well, at least there are no concerns about the salary cap for right now. We've got so much in LTIR exemptions we could bring up almost the entire Hershey roster!!
Shame about Alexeyev. This was a chance for him to make a first serious statement at the NHL level, and he can't avoid the injury bug.
Speaking of first statements, with Kuemper out for who knows how long, this is Lindgren's first chance in his career to be "the man" for any non-negligible length of time. His total exposure to the NHL before this season was about 1/2 of one regular season. It will be interesting to see how he handles this, especially with a wounded team in front of him.

Orlov is playing tonight
which means there’s only 8 frikin players on IR
it also means McIlrath got sent back to Hershey

Yikees. Our
bottom 2 D pairs are suspect. 3rd pair especially.. Prepare for a blood bath!! (For which team, who knows) :raspberry:

a 9pm start for a Chicago game is bullcrap, the league might get a couple rude tweets about this

Woah! Pretty damn good showing for a team missing 8 starters.
I watched late and thought I must have been dreaming when I saw goals from TVR/Kuzy/Mojo/Eller, but nope....it was real.
Makes a difference when you play in the other guy's zone most of the game. They should try that more often.
Excellent game by Lindy. He is very solid on the bottom 2/3 of the net. It's those top corners that worry me with him. Good for him getting a chance to really play and making the best of it.
Caps always try and make it at least interesting in the 3rd.
Congrats to Eller and his 900th game...and a goal to boot.
When was the last time Ovi scored against a goalie?

Side note...
Fallboy (Fjallby) and Shmitty are both Winnipeg Jets. I recall hearing/seeing Shmitty on the ice, but I can't say I even noticed Fallboy out there at all.
Fjallby has 1G, 1A in 24 games this season with Winnipeg - so it appears he hasn't blossomed in Winnipeg either.
Schmidt has 3G, 3A in 27 games this season. I know there were a lot of heart fan feelings when he left Washington, but he hasn't really turned into what it appeared he might. He did have 4G and 28A last year in Winnipeg. I don't really measure a D man by scoring, but I recall Shmitty as more of a puck mover and offense type guy and not so much a crease-clearing type of D.
at $6m a year for 6 years (okay, I exaggerate... $5.95m/yr) I'd say he's a touch overpaid regardless.

I'm sure the team DOES try to play as much of the game as possible in the opponent's zone. But it's hard to do when the other team is faster than you, which most teams are relative to the Caps.

One of the better efforts of the season. Hopefully, they can build on the recent momentum. Also, it would be nice to see Ovie score with the goalie actually on the ice. :snicker:
