I like Minny. In spite of my better judgement.... I just can't help myself. :snicker:
Oh joy. A PP. :-|
even better, a two man advantage
shiiit, now they they are going to blow the game by trying to get OV a hattieI hope not.
Fucking ridiculous penalty. Can't blame the opponent because YOU dropped your stick! That is an awful rule. I'm ok with a penalty if the stick breaks. But come on hold on to your fucking stick. Even the NBC commentators thought it was a weak call.
:poop: :poop:I thought we screwed on the penalty. It was a hell of a shot. A bullet right by the ear of Holtby. Toughest shot for a goalie to stop.
Anyone else listening/watching the Minn. feed? Can't find Locker and JoeB.
Kovy with 4 minutes? WTF?He deserved an extra 2 minutes
He deserved an extra 2 minutes
Kovy was throwing punches.
I must’ve missed the “extra” roughing.
We need some discipline.
Minny is one of the worst teams in the league for taking penalties. If we stay clean, it will frustrate the hell out of them.
Minn doesn't take as many penalties as we do.
Maybe I misheard?Caps are 2nd worst. Only the Canes have more penalties.
The comms said "second worst" in the league, regarding penalties I know we take A LOT of stupid penalties, but I didn't think they were referring to us. I guess I just assumed....
Caps are 2nd worst. Only the Canes have more penalties.
Morning chaps. Not sure how long I'm gonna last tonight...
That’s what she said :snicker:
Can’t believe I’m the 1st smartass perv to respond to this. Mick must be playing with his “thingy” or something
Should be tied up here in a minute.. :clown:
Ovy, Kovy and Kuzy out together ..... ruh-roh!
Ovy, Kovy and Kuzy out together ..... ruh-roh!
Did any of you hear Maguire's love for Wilson?
don't you mean, "uh oh" ? :snicker:I think he meant “Zoiks!”
8-0He was sure pumping him up. Saying he isn't just a physical player but good offensively and an outstanding penalty killer.
Nope.
Pray tell.....
Carlson’s D sucks.
He was sure pumping him up. Saying he isn't just a physical player but good offensively and an outstanding penalty killer.
:snicker:
or, Carlson sucks on D
Its just great the Kempney though it was "really nice" that Reirden spends a lot of time talking to him..... Maybe it would be better if he just yelled at him and benched him! Maybe then he might actually start playing decent.
Is Kempny still in? Yep, he is.. :clown:I think it's time to scratch him. Another mediocre game.
Can anyone tell me why Kempny gets a fucking sweater every goddamn night? He absolutely sucks.I think everyone here but Rush is thinking the same thing.
Thanks Kemper!! :clown: :poop: If he doesn't get scratched on Wednesday, Rierden doesn't have a hair on his nuts..
I think everyone here but Rush is thinking the same thing.
Moot point. You have to have nuts to have hair on them.
Jus' sayin'....
DAMN good one Lil’!!😂🤣😂🤣
You go girl!
Rush
Getting uncomfortable discussing his balls. Can we stop?
Good win! We'll take 2 points.
2 points.. Guess it'd be too much to ask to not give up 3 or more goals a game or two down the stretch?
HOW, on this planet, or any other, was this a "good win" ?
It was appalling!
You're usually the negative one and I'm usually the positive one.
The onlly positive out of this game was that Ovi got two goals. That's it.
I have struggled to stay awake this whole game. I'ts nearly 4am here in my world. I go out of my way to offer my support to the team and to the morale of Caps fans on this board.
I expect better.
This was a shambles.
There is a game between top conference teams Bruins and Lightning on Tuesday. I'm going to watch.
Might be worth having a look at these two head to head.
7:30pm on NBCSN
Although I feel the CAPS were still guilty of playing down to Minnesota’s level, I did like seeing an uptick in the grittiness tonite!I thought Backstrom has been decent the past couple of games.
I thought Minnesota’s goalie actually had a decent game, but we had better goal shooting tonight, as well!!
Glad to see Ziggy back, despite a little rusty look at first, I thought he basically did his job!
Overall for our defense, however, when Orlov is your best defenseman for the night, because he just happens to make less mistakes than any of the other guys, that evening, that’s not saying much!
Actually, the Big Dillen, had a decent defensive game, but otherwise overall defense not impressive!
I hate to crack on Vrana, again, but he was defensively horrible tonight, and continues to have that look like he’s only there to wait for breakaway opportunities, or good feeds for SOG‘s!
It will be key in the playoffs for several of our most guilty forwards, to play defensively responsible, 200 foot hockey, actually, not only to GET to the playoffs possibly, but also to Advance!!
The Kuzys, Vranas, Backys, and Ovi’s, in particular!!
Rush
I confess to having not seen most of it live -- just the goals in the first which seemed to be fairly even based on the part I saw. Didn't see most of the second and I thought the third wasn't awful until the Kempny penalty -- we had several odd-man breaks we did not execute on. At this point in the season I'm going to feel good about any game where we get 2 points and Ovi scores twice. The way we played the past several weeks, any win is a step in the right direction.
But, if you saw the whole game and we sucked -- so be it. I'll still take the points because at the rate we were going, the playoffs were/are in question.
We had a couple of decent flourishes early on.
After that... WE WERE SHIT.
Did you now we tke the second most penalties in the whold NHL?
THIS team. This super talentented team, jjust can't seem to keep their dicks in their pants. the second worst penaltiies in the league.
So much skill thqt the can't even.....
:O= :O= :O=
Good test against a very hot and good Philthy team coming up.
Tuesday you say? Hmmm Might be interesting to actually watch what a REAL hockey game looks like....
I thought Backstrom has been decent the past couple of games. What ws his face off wins this game?
What ws his face off wins this game?He won 9 and lost 10.
any win is a good win, the score sheet that gets you in the playoffs doesn’t have a column for
“won.. but”
He won 9 and lost 10.
I thought Backstrom has been decent the past couple of games.
Nuff said. :(He has always been around 50% on faceoffs in his career. His career average is 50.4%. This season he is at 49.6%. Not much down from his career average. His best season on faceoffs was 53.6%.
He used to be good at this. Not no more.
Normally I would agree with you.
Sadly, the trend in this team has me very worried.
I still believe that we will make the playoffs.
However, our boys have got into some very VERY bad habits. VERY bad habits. Habiits stick.
Winning 4 - 3 against poor old Minny.... 4 - 3 ??? ???
CLUB KETTLER still reigns it seems. :( :'( :'( :'(
I have been focusing on his defensive game because he seems to have taken a step backward in that part of his game. He was fine tonight but being on a line with Vrana isn't making things easy for him and Oshie in the defensive zone.
Oh yeah!
He has always been, the hardest player for me to notice, when he has a short bad stretch, every now and then.
I guess I’ve become so used to his great overall consistency, and stability, that I’ve become accustomed to not looking for his errors!
His forechecking, and checking on the boards, rarely ever rise to the level of being “teeth rattlers”, but the checks he does execute, are usually quite strategic, purposeful, and effective!
I wasn’t really eyeing Backy much, tonite, but good to hear he’s picking it up a little!

I joined late and saw the replay of the highstick on Oshie, and saw hit spitting blood. Why wasn’t it a double minor?
Oshie is about the only player I have any respect for after this game. and even that's pushing it.Oshie is a hard worker and is responsible defensively. But I think I respect Tom Wilson. I can't think of anything bad about his game.
Shamefull. just shamefull. :(

I like Little Willy also. But you cannot tell me he hasn't bought in to "\klub Ketter".
There are only two people I see that kick that trend. Oshie and Eller.
I might put Hagelin in with that group, as well, Lil’.
( I really like Hagelin, but it did take me a while to warm up to him, being a former HEN)!😁
And now that I think about it, that Leipzig, Dowd, Hathaway, 4th line, isn’t really marinated in the stench of “Klub Kettler” either! They just don’t freaking score that much!!😆😁

So I'm a little confused on where Lil :hearts: stands on this game :raspberry:
I thought Backstrom has been decent the past couple of games.
Unfortunately we have already seen the signs of aging. He is still a good player and has a good hockey IQ but the last 2 seasons we have seen a drop in his play. Especially on the defensive side. He went from a selke contender to an average defensive player. Bad thing is that he is still one of our better defensive players.
Backstrom has been coasting since he got back. I said at the time they re-signed him, that we are going to really regret that contract. Don't get me wrong, I have appreciated what he has done for us, but I'm not looking forward to watching him age.
I like Little Willy also. But you cannot tell me he hasn't bought in to "\klub Ketter".I'm not an Eller fan. I like the effort but he does make poor decisions with the puck. At both ends of the ice but especially entering the offensive zone.

Hathaway, Dowd, Hagelin and even Panik know there limits. They aren't the most skilled but they do work hard and usually make good decisions. You don't see those guys hurt us very often because they are trying to do too much.
To be fair: Hath, Dowd, Haglin, Eller, Panik are all hard working, they just don't have skills to produce much on the score sheet. I know it's not really their job, but that's the "dig" on that group, imo.. The top guys barely have 200' between the 6.. Kovy hasn't really showed me why we need/got him, to this point..
* If it was to spark Kuzy, he looked pretty coked up the 1st game, but not much since.. :snicker:

Not going to argue about that but I still love him as a player and always will.
Part of it is his style. He has historically been a "smooth" player that has a high hockey IQ and got himself in the right positions. I always felt like he got by more on talent than all-out effort. When he was young, he not only got away with that, but was an elite player. I'm afraid now as he ages, his talent will only make him an average player - and one with a big contract.

We have a few players that make poor decisions trying to enter the offensive zone. And it's mostly our star players.
With Eller it's no so much his game I dislike. It's his attitude. He comes off too cocky and arrogant.
I still remember the first game of the season the season before this when we beat the Bruins 7-0.
Marchand didn't like his attitude and gave him a beat down. I don't likeep Marchand at all but I was ok with him beating on Eller. Only time I have ever approved of a Cap losing a fight.

Marchand.. lol Eller should of whipped him like he owned him. I wouldn't allow myself to loose a fight to that prick. If he got me once, he'd have to keep gettin me till I kicked his ass.. Every time I saw him! :raised-eyebrow:
It might surprise you, Kollie, but I actually DO know where you’re coming from, on that aspect!
I have the same feeling about John Carlson!
Carlson, no doubt, gives us plenty of offensive production, but he just comes off, IMO, with that “shit-eatin’-grin”, kinda look, especially when he commits an obvious defensive error! It never seems like he is upset with himself about ANYTHING, and it makes me dislike him more, despite his good contributions!
Eller, as much as I like the guy, also has that cocky, shit eating grin, look!
With both Carlson and Eller, I don’t know if it’s just something in the genetics of their facial shapes, or what, and for all I know they may not even be feeling the way my mind perceives “the look“!
Either way, they both bother me in that area!😁😁
Rush
Lol you aren't going to let that go.
I forgot to mention that, regardless of what their facial expressions are, I totally give Eller a pass on it, because of the highly motivated character Standard that he has, which is in my opinion, COMPLETELY contrary to John Carlsen‘s style!
Rush
Lol you aren't going to let that go.
I'm just curious how a comment about Eller turned into bashing another player. Funny thing is that no one was defending Carlson.
Carlson is 6’3”, 215-220! His potential physical presence, RELATIVE to his actual LEVEL of physicality, has always been abysmal! He SHOULD dominate defensively, the overwhelming majority of the time around our goal, with his size alone, but you will rarely, if ever see him COMMAND any territory in that area!
He is a slow skater, has super slow reaction time, and unusually low physical coordination, for ANY professional athlete.
He is horrible down along the boards, in any given puck battle with an opponent, as well! A furry little kitten guards the crease better than his soft ass!
He has but ONE real defensive move, in his repertoire, that he employs....the poke check.... and he tries to incorporate that move in place of other defensive tactics, such as blocking shots, guarding an opponent after crossing the blue line, etc.
I’ll give him his due on the blocked shots, but he is so easily burned, once the poke check fails, after he’s challenged a skater coming into our zone! He’s very consistent at that!
Ok, Kollie, NOW, I’ve let go!!😂🤣😂🤣👍👍
(temporarily, at least)!
Rush

It is pretty clear to see how bad Carlson has played recently. He had such a good first half. Great offensively and was holding his own defensively. The 2nd half of the season has been a disaster for him.
