Caps lose 5-2

turns out all the information the team has put out today is wrong, the game is on the NBCSW+ channel

Hot damn we get a PP.

Big Tony riding the pine....well I guess more like sniffing the air way up in the press box, but...
What's wrong with Jensen? Dude has played more games than any Cap the last 4 years, then inks a new deal and now he's broke 1/2 the time?
This is Caps Hockey.
Caps lose tonight and the season is over. (well it's over anyway, but loss tonight is a pretty big nail)
Go Caps
-
Morning chaps.

Whooops. I did it again.

who is special K
-
who is special K
Kuemper.
Over here Special K is a breakfast cereal for people on a diet. :P
-
We have the same cereal over here. I wouldn’t blame Kuemper for tonight, the rest of the team looked like ass in front of him.

As has often been the case.
However he has consistantly played below his paycheck. Every now and then he strings a few decent performances together, but then reverts back to being slow and well, inconsistant.
I'm not expecting him to be a Cup winner..... oh, wait.......
Maybe he just doesn't fit in here? Not the right goalie coach? He lets in a lot of soft goals early on, it seems. Not the right warm up routine?
Ho hum.

I think this team severed its temporal scoring artery and fractured its ability to play D
Whelp. Season’s over. Cant win against a bad team when you desperately need the points.
-
Yes, the Caps are struggling. But their record the past 10 games has been 5-4-1, the 8th best record out of the 16 teams in the Conference. So they are not folding, they are simply doing what they can given an aging team beset by injuries the past couple of seasons and a selloff of a lot of experienced parts in the days leading up to the trade deadline. I know people around here have been scratching their heads over my backing away from rooting for victories recently. But the difference in standings points between finishing the season, say, 6-6 and finishing it 3-9 is probably going to be 3-4 places in the standings order. These are places that might be very useful in the upcoming draft lottery and draft.
-
Absolutely agree. If the Pens were in our position, they would lose every game left and end up getting Bedard!
-
If we were definitely out of the running for a playoff spot, i would agree that folding would be the way to go, much as I hate even admitting it.
However, if we can squeak out a wild card spot, then all bets are still on .... theoretically. All tallies revert back to ZERO and if we come up against The Bruins in the first round, I really fancy our chances, in spite of what they are doing in the regs. We are their kryptonite and have been for some time.
The fact that we are even discussing this possibility is paramount to the way the team has fought back, especially with the ridiculous amount of injuries early in the season.
In spite of all that, the inconsistancy of our team is quite alarming. The goal differentials of some of our wins and then losses is staggering! Coming back from sure losses to win in the 2nd and 3rd periods, then crashing the next game.
This leads me to think this is a mental / locker room issue.
No matter what, I will still continue to support and cheer our team, for what that's worth....
Hope for the best, :praying: , expect the worst, as any Caps fan knows.
-
Great comments and I agree we could possibly beat the Bruins.
-
The past several games has me leaning towards this squad doing what they can to make sure Lavi doesn’t get a contract extension.
