Well I would say this game is very important, except the Caps blew off the last game vs Hens. If they'd beaten the fucking Hens, we could seriously contend for a WC spot. Me thinks it's a wee bit too late now. Not that it would've mattered with this team in the playoffs :'(

That's right, Mick. The Caps have two back-to-backs left. Both are with travel, on the road, against top teams, neither of which will have played the previous night. It sucks, but that's what the schedule is. Which is just one more reason why this old team, really not able to be consistently competitive with the better teams in the league, should rightfully have been written off awhile back, though you can't do that as long as the playoffs are mathematically possible, I guess. But the selloff at the trade deadline said it all. When management in the Ovechkin era does the kind of selloff the Caps did, you KNOW things aren't good. I personally wrote this team off awhile back, which everybody realizes. The difference is, I express no rancor or snark about it -- it is what it is. So if this team can't do it now, I'm going to hope they set themselves up as well as possible for the draft. And root for Buffalo, Detroit, Florida, Vancouver, and St. Louis. Oh, and Ottawa too!!

They better pray they lucky into Bedard, cause currently they have zero talent. At least none that can go 60 minutes a night, 80+ games a year. Maybe a coaching/staff change gives them a little appetite back, but Im skeptical it'll matter much.

Lavi is done. It’s obvious he ran out of ideas with this squad around Christmas. Then he puts Carlson out there for the 3v3. 3v3 is a speed game. Mr Norris was never a speed player. The only reason the Caps didn’t lose in OT is because the Islanders were in conservation mode.

I've never disliked Lavi, but I surely hope Ownership replaces the entire coaching staff. I agree Lavi isn't going to solve our problems going forward.

Been hearing Jeff Halpern is a consideration for next Caps HC. I'd take that in a minute! Been learning under Cooper for a few years. It seems like the Caps could have any coach they choose. Cause whoever it is, is most likely going to be the HC when the GOAT breaks the record. Who wouldn't want to sign on for that?
