I think he's gonna end up pissing off the future goal tender to appease the struggling veteran who's gone at the end of the year..  :raised-eyebrow:  I get some seniority is in play, but how much evidence does he need? Holbty's been giving up 2 goals per 20 minutes now for about a month.. He played 2 days ago, Sammy hasn't played since last Monday.. Whatever.. Hope for the best.

as usual, I got the 1st period on the radio, Walton said he didn't really blame Holts for that as much as the pitiful play in front of him, and the pp went out with a whimper

Holtby made a big save at the end of the period to keep the score tied. Can’t really blame him for the goal,  the guy was wide open.  Oshie was back on defense covering for Jensen and got beat.

Great play by Kuzy on Vrana goal.  Good to see.  We need Kuzy to step it up.  First line without Ovie is pretty much invisible.

Actually it went off Petry’s skate and Boyd was credited with the goal.  Originally I thought it was Leipsic’s goal but the puck never reached him but went off Petry.

Holtby was terrific.  In the 3rd period Montreal had by my count 9 quality scoring chances and Holtby saved all but one.

I too was down on Holtz after 1st goal, Mick! (With good reason, I might add), And actually, he still looked “off”, during the rest of the 1st period. He showed some jerky, and indecisive judgement when collecting the puck, in, an around his area, especially when deciding WHO, or which direction, to send it to!
Causing a few “close calls”, for our Dmen, that should have been more routine!!


Thankfully, at some point before the 3rd P, I believe Holtby, (obviously knowing the current pressure on him, NEEDING to have a good game), Stepped up and answered the call!!  He needed it. His teammates needed it, and the fans needed it, as well!


 If anybody knows how important it is for him to string a few good performances together, AFTER this one, in his next few starts, it’s Holtby!!


Truthfully, I can’t call it. I certainly hope he improves his game quickly!
 He will certainly have the spotlight on him for a bit!  We shall see!!


 Third line energy, with Boyd, looked pretty sharp. Especially the first two periods!


 A desperate Montreal, tried to throw everything but the kitchen sink at us in the third.
 We bent a little, as a team, but did not break!!
 This was the most important thing to see, for me, about tonight‘s game!  After a long rest spell, The Capitals especially, have a tendency to use a few “break in” games, to get the motor chugging!


 Happy to see that was not the case tonight!!
