Laviolette has made it clear he wants to push the play and maximize the amount of time we spend in the offensive zone. Expect to see a lot of offensive play and maybe a lot more scores like this. Holtby will probably be glad he's out of town.

I didn’t think Sammy looked too sharp and Groot looked sluggish but maybe that’s his game...he doesn’t move around much and the D looked kind of lost all over, but it’s early yet.
Hard to say with no real tune up to start the season but the scorers didn’t seem to struggle

And I didn’t get a good look at Dowd’s check to the head but the bad replay didn’t appear to me he went at his head.

On a serious note. Does anyone know if there will be any lineup changes tonight? Will be interesting to see if they replace chara with siegs and if they don't, how chara looks on back to back nights energy wise.

To me...Chara looked sluggish in game one, much less 2nd of back to back games. But maybe I'm just not used to him and he just looks slow all the time or maybe it's just game 1 after 8 months of not playing. Kind of hard to judge at this point. I though our D looked pretty rusty and disjointed overall, but again with only basically a week or so of practice and NO exhibition games, and especially a new coach & system and several new guys....I'm not surprised or really worried at this point.
I'm not knocking the guy (Chara) and I'm sure he brings more than just his game with his character and experience (not unlike Orpik did at the end) but I'm hoping Ziggy and Dr Fever get some real ice time this season and we can whittle down to the real best 6 d for when it matters.
I think Chara is a steal at $800k, and maybe hard to turn that down, but not sure we really needed him on this squad. I guess if it falls in your lap, even if you don't need it, you take it if it helps the team.
Our top line didn't seem to struggle as much. Seven points for the night is not too shabby. One point out of our second line and two out of the third line not so great, but...we shall see. I'd really like to get some scoring out of our L3 this year.
I was hoping Dillon's goal would actually be the Game winner, but we let that one in at the end so...
Anyway, the win is what we needed, so let's just keep doing that.

I was referring to someone's post (Beaglefan....I think) much earlier about their being an unwritten rule about no fighting this year...which I didn't really think would be the case considering the schedule and it throwing the same teams together often and repeatedly which in my mind leads to more friction amongst the squads. Actually I thought YOU were more aligned with that thinking
I never claimed to be connected, but rather just a fan who shares HIS OPINIONS about his favorite sport and favorite team.
Did I butthurt you somewhere else, or are you just being saucey? Or did I just misunderstand you altogether? Or are you just mad about having to share Lil's queen?

I was late getting home so watched the game on delay....I caught up about end of game so I avoid the GDT so I don't get any Goals news ahead of time.

That's the thinking I'm under but everyone from the chara thread when we signed him seemed to question the move. It's a good depth signing. There will be injuries and who know who we'll have healthy when the playoffs come. We might even have kempny back at that point. There will be injuries and from what I've heard and read, analysts throughout the league feel we have the deepest d core in the league at this point of the season. Come the trade deadline, trades will be hard to complete with so many teams at the top of the salary cap and the factor if your trade is with a team outside of your country, the player will be forced to quarantine if thats who you trade with.

My response didn't work. I simply was saying that everyone was against us signing chara and thought you were amongst that crowd. Sorry for that misunderstanding.
Chara will be solid for us and looks better tonight than he did last night. Seems like he's clearly on our first pk unit which I knew he'd be a plus towards. Especially with all the penalties we took last year(if you didn't know, we were first in the league with penalty min per game, I think around 4.37 or over)
vanecek looks great! Kinda have the feeling we're have a recreation or our young tandems of the early 2000's in the works. No one drafts better at the goalie position than the caps!

I've always lked Chara. The B's were my second favourite team. I just can't quite get how he comes from them to be our 3rd line D man, and from being a Captain. I don't know what his personal situation is, or if that has anything to do with it. I genuinely like the guy, I just don't get it. Rather here than anywhere else.

Not likely. He looks worse than ever being paired with Orlov. Am I the only one that thinks that is our worst pairing.
