Oshie, but no Big Willy? Bummer. Thought we'd see him this game.
The Sabres are the second only to Boston for most goals in the in the league?
Go Caps!
-
So how are we going to be in cap trouble when our guys come back? Didn't we get cap relief for those high dollar guys while they were out on LTIR? Isn't that how Tampa worked the system a couple years ago?

OK, so here's how it goes, as I understand it.
As long as one or more players are out on LTIR, the team gets a cap exemption, day by day, equal to the salary(its) of the players on the reserve list. That means that the team can bring up replacement players to fill the roster and go over the salary cap on any given day by the amount of the salaries of the LTIR players on that day. However, the team never "banks" any dollars of cap relief. As players come off LTIR, from that day forward the LTIR exemption shrinks by the salary of the reinstated player(s), until finally, when the last player comes off LTIR, the team must conform to the salary cap with its roster of eligible players from that point forward.
The one thing to note about the salary cap, however, is that it is in effect ONLY for the regular season. Once the playoffs start there is no salary cap any more. Thus, a few years ago Tampa kept Nikita Kucherov on LTIR throughout the entire regular season, thus maintaining his large salary as a buffer to go over the salary cap all season. Then they activated him for the playoffs.
The key to the Caps' salary cap situation is entirely tied up with Backstrom. We've heard that he is on the road back. We've heard he most likely can't play this season. We've heard that he is unlikely to play ever again. As Pontius Pilate said, "What is Truth?" As long as Backstrom and his huge, $9 million + salary remains on LTIR, the Caps are probably OK with regard to the salary cap. If Backstrom returns before the end of the regular season though (along with Wilson et. al.) then the Caps may have real salary cap issues. Hagelin's contract isn't big enough to absorb all the overages that the Caps have been running with the players they've brought up. He can't absorb much if all other LTIR players return to the ice

WOW!
What an incredibly concise explanation to a very complicated scenario. It finally makes sense to me.
You should be a teacher. Or a coach......
Thanks.

Might be the stream too. My feed (DirecTV/NHL Center ice) is freezing and going blank. Did it 3x in the first period.

Management does not care how understanding or confused you are about all the different uniforms. They simply want you to buy one [or more] of each.
-
great PK, hope it pays off

I know this. It is a total insult to the legions of fans who joined, or were born into the "ROCK THE RED" era.
-
phukin joke, that two OTs with two major mistakes
-
Way to go Lard!
-
PHUK.
-
Way to go Lard!
I assume you are using that name for Special K now, 'cos he is as slow as........ :raspberry:
-
You just know that Lars is gonna do something stupid in OT.
Also, Mantha is a waste of a jersey. Ya, he made one assist, but he just cruises around with very little effort - and maybe the coaches should just have him practice his breakaway at every practice - maybe he could at least hit the net.
-
Meh. It's not all bad.
We squeezed a point and the Big Man scored a brace.
After the euphoria of the last game, I was kind of expecting a huge let down.
We didnt start well, but we picked it up and showed some resilience and fight.
I'm okay with this.
-
Could of been worse. Down 2 in the 2nd, still got a point. Hate to waste a W, but we weren't sharp for a bunch of that game. I was surprised we clawed back into it.
Mantha would be good for our cap space if we could move him and possibly get a draft pick or something. Lard too for that matter, huh Lil? :raspberry: :snicker:
-
Didn't see 77 at all. Did he even touch the ice?

I swear, if I ever go back over to 'Merica, I will pay for you to attend a game. Just so's I can berate you in person!
:raspberry:

Night, night, my deranged and demented friends. Sweet dreams.
-
 What'd I do??
-
Night.
See ya Thursday!
-
got a point at least
:-|
-
They were God awful in their own zone all game. Way too much time and space for Buffalo and lots of standing around in front of Kuemper. We were lucky to get a point although I thought we might pull it out at 4-3. Once it was OT I figured we'd lose.
-
ditto to what Wayne said.
Lucky to get a point...got my hopes up when we actually clawed back in....was praying it didn't go to OT....then praying it would. ;D I thought the tripping call on Kuzy was a cheapie...ESPECIALLY at that point in the game when there had been what 1 penalty all night? It certainly could have been called, but I didn't think it should've been.
Dumb mistake but Lars and Kuemper both in OT, but let's face it - this team SUCKS at 3 on 3 OT. Was kind of hoping we get to the shootout and that WE'D see MILANO or somebody with a chance to actually score in a shootout.
Buffalo is the highest scoring team in the league (or maybe 2nd), so I figured we'd have trouble with their speed....also been figuring on that big let down game and thought this was it after the 1st, but give the guys some credit for sacking up and storming back.
And I don't know what kind of supplements that old fucker Ovi is taking, but I need some. His scoring certainly hasn't slowed down this year.
-
I’m ok with that call on Kuzy, if he just skated into the guy and didn’t make that slight kick I think it would have been a bs call. I blame Kuzy for doing it with time running out.
