So I have a GMC Yukon that seats 8 (well 4 pretty comfortably and 2 more okay... or 2 really comfortably and maybe 6 munchkins, but my point is I volunteer to drive it with any board members who want to meet in NoVA and drive to Mickstix in FLA to watch Cap games at his place and go fishing in FLA.
(and Barf you can hop a flight cheap...nobody is flying these days....)

Oh....should we ask Mick beforehand if this is okay?

Okay, so...I'll buy Mick whatever beverage(s) he wants for the duration to sweeten the deal.

I have a free place to stay in Longwood (north of Orlando) for several folks, but I'm not sure where Mick is...but I thought the Gulf Coast ish...somewhere..

Who's in?

C'mon, We aint THAT old.  I sure as hell could use a break from.....

Well HELLFIRE...Mick is like 30 minutes from my FREEEEEE place to stay in Longwood

NOW who's in?

I can't go tomorrow, but we sure as hell could be there for some of the 2020 Playoffs (and they are NOT going to last long)

Just a warning...IF my wife finds out I'm actually taking a break from work and going to her parents house in FLA (where WE are honestly quite welcome - as they are some of the coolest people on earth), she MIGHT want to tag along, but she's cool.....you know.....spreading "Love" and "Joy" wherever she goes.... ;D

AND she just got back from there, so she may not even want to go.

(And she's relatively small, so she can take a munchkin seat in the back)

If I was driving we'd be there, when I go to Dallas I drive straight through. That's only about 16 hours of driving from here, what kills it is how often you gotta stop to p

Who wants to watch a playoff game at 3pm?

But then who wants to watch one in Mid-August...with no crowd.

I thought I would be stoked for this, but I'm not really feeling it.

Well we got to let Alta drive then....Dallas in 16 is getting it.

When our kids were young, we learned what a nightmare it was to drive to Grandparents in FLA, so we started leaving at 6-8pm....let the kids (and wife) sleep in the car all night while I drove.  It was SO MUCH less painful.  And Faster...not as much traffic at night, not nearly as many pee stops.  OF course there was less traffic in general 10-20 years ago, so....
Still a 12 hour haul though - driving at night with a minivan loaded with youngins and all the accoutrements didn't want to break any speed records.
My wife just came back from a visit last week and she drove home Sunday...hit some traffic.  She only stopped for gas and pee brakes and it took her 14 hours which is about the average these days.  Google says its a 12 hour drive, and we've done it in 12.  Young and speedy you might do it in 11, but you'd have to have favorable traffic and that's rare these days

We....which means SHE, (as I usually don't go as often) generally makes it a two day trip now with a break in NC or SC.  She's not really in a hurry and it's a miserable drive so she breaks it up.

Anyways, GO CAPS

we had a bad thunderstorm roll through from about 2:30-3:30, I'm surprised you didn't hear it

haven't had one that made the windows vibrate like that in quite some time, and now I'm tired as hell because I couldn't get back to sleep

I made the trip (drive) 2x back in the late 90's, before I moved. I've not driven out of the state since. I just hate driving any length anymore. 2 maybe 2.5 hours is my limit these days. Ass hurts, can't half see, old, grumpy... Yea, no.  :raspberry:  Your wife has the right idea! Break it up in -at least- half..  :)

I'm good for 500 miles/day driving.  Is this trip actually being considered?

Sounds like at this point, likely not.  It would be an after party (like after the Caps get swept party)  :-(   I should have thought of it a few days earlier.  I mean it really just popped into my head on game day and I was thinking about Mick being in FLA, and thought, what the hell why not a road trip for Caps hockey.

But seriously, how about we plan one for next year if anyone's interested?  I mean...we can do several "local" meets for games and should definitely plan that again - I'd love to meet some of the gang, but I'd do a driving trip  too.  If we are considering FLA, then maybe go in the spring or even the dead of winter.  I actually hate FLA in the summer, but February or March might be a nice break.

This years "pandemic" has the whole country out of sorts, and I think starting the season up again in August was a mistake. We shall see if the games get better, but I'm not even sure the players hearts are really in this (well that's not unusual for Caps, but)..

Anyway...let's do something for real.  And where the hell is DC?  I would have thought he'd of been the 1st to volunteer.  Although maybe he's only partial to riding in Luxury cars  :raspberry:

Yuns all throw out your thoughts.  Let's do something...
