Title: Playoff Drinking Game
Post by: HoustonCapsFan on Wednesday April 11, 2018, 08:16:46 PM Eastern
I have a suggestion (really more of a coping mechanism).  For those of you who are subject to the awful NBC national broadcasts for the playoff games (first round is still home broadcast in home market I think).  Every time the douchebag announcers mention 'long change' during the second or 'last change' during any faceoff you have to take a shot or chug your beer.  I bet you are hammered by the end of the second period.  I hate how the NBC announcers assume that playoff watchers are ignorant of the most basic points of the game.

It is a good thought. Wouldn't work for me because I'm going to chug my beer regardless.

Under NBC's contract with the NHL the home market for first round games in the past allowed the local broadcaster to produce and broadcast the games as usual.

From what I was seeing in the schedule it appeared and on NHL.com's schedule we did not benefit from that this year and would be forced to listen to the awful NBC goons for the entire playoffs. I was sure this had something to do with the Comcast NBC deal.  As of two days ago the schedule listed the Caps/Jackets R1G1 would only be broadcast on USA channel, BUT today I found good news. A story from Monday, which took far too long to actually make itself known to my DVR says that NBC Sports Washington WILL get to broadcast the entirety of the first round.

Hurray!

. . .   or, mayhaps this can get more interesting. . . lets take this to the GDTs. . . .

How about first period we stick with "long/last change",. . .but between each period, we vote on the "driniking phrase"  for the next. based on what buzzphrases, player, etc, are being "looped" by the announcers and producers. . .

Oh and Macco you can do this with whiskey/schotch/tequilla/conac instead of beer (just no wine.  . ., this is a mans game after all), hell I may just only do JD or Glemorangie anyway . . .

I have a bottle of Grand Marnier which I normally use once a year for making my Mom's famous Bûche De Noél cake, which I have made the last few years.

I starting drinking pure alcohol a few weeks ago, which is a medication (ground CryptoLepsis Sanguinolenta) in grain alcohol.  It gives me quite a buzz. A few more sips of something weaker (and much better tasting) won't hurt, and maybe this will help the Caps to a better postseason outcome.  I may be watching the inside of my eyelids before long, but I'll give it a try.

Yes, I made the one in the pictures.  There's no flour in it and it tastes supreme.
