Sad news about the Humboldt team. That's an odd comment to make.
At least the survivors didn't get stranded in Saskatchewan and have to eat their team mates bodies to live.
Geez, bizarre comments about that tragic accident.Very tragic. This the 2nd time a bus carrying a hockey team had a fatal accident in Saskarchewan. In 1986 4 members of the Swift current Broncos were killed. The Broncos name should be banned from Saskatchewan sports.
???
Sorry to hear of the bus accident.. I'm not familiar at all with the terrain ofSaskatchewan, but how the heck does a bus crash kill 14 people? Was it hit by a train? Fall off a cliff?? I just can't get my head around that many fatal injuries in one crash, from a vehicle? Prayers for all involved..Oh the Caps.. Yea, yay! Can't wait till the dance starts and we trip over our dicks as usual.. lol
let me get my magnifying glass out.
Not that this is related but I don't think I've ever tripped over my dick.
Dang, sorry for your luck..  Yea, the board screwed my post up because I copied/pasted (or tried to) "Saskatchewan".. I couldn't find the font size editor so I just deleted it..
By the way, I bought the domain name WashingtonCapitalsFanForum.com and also bought domain parking about an hour ago. I hope to have the site working under the new domain name by the start of the playoffs.
I'll take the site down for a while over the next couple days to make the transition. i will also setup an automatic redirect for those going to the site under this domain name/folder.
well that's nice. Now I gotta change all my bookmarks
It will redirect automatically if that's too much trouble for you. :raspberry: ;D
The number of deaths is now 15. The total was so high because it collided with an 18 wheeler. The terrain here in Saskatchewan is flat. Its the prairies. There is some wooded areas in that part of the province but that shouldn't cause any problems. Weather may have played a factor or possibly icy road conditions.

sure, but for how long?
Dayum! Keep feeding him!
We want 50!!
BEARAKOWSKI!!!!!
Am I a bad Caps fan if I'm away past the point of caring about another regular season award for Ovi?
holy crap! was Carlson physical at the end of that breakaway??Lmao no kidding
That was fun to watch. Damn, I wish Ovie got his #50. Still an awesome year for the GR8 one.The Devils refused to pull there goalie when they had the opportunity even though it is the normal thing to do down 1 or 2 goals. They really didn't want Ovi to get to 50
When is the :poop: NHL :poop: going to fix the stupid playoff format? :thumbsdown:The way things worked the format doesn't look as bad this year. If they insist on divisions I'd prefer if the division winners get seeded 1 and 2 and then 6 wildcards in each conference.

It worked out better this year, but it's still senseless most years.
we are talking about a league that thinks a diving call should be matching minors

Yup that's a joke. Its one or the other. So was it a hook or was it a dive. Gotta even it up.

Carlson was actually a plus 4 tonight. Not bad defensively and he even got physical. He needs to play like that on a more consistent basis. He should, time for signing a new contract is coming.
I wish Ovie scored one more, but there more important job to do. 49 goals is a great achievement, but he needs the Cup, and we need it, too!

He should, time for signing a new contract is coming. He will get big money somewhere and then likely shit the bed.

sooo, we are too hard on him. We don't know what the fuk we are talking about when we say say he's over rated. You can't figure out why we've seen this for going on four years now. Then you post that bullshit.
If you ever give me shit again about 74 I WILL see you at The Brier and feed you your teeth

They had possession in the Caps end with about 1 min and 30 secs left but didn't pull the goalie. After that the Caps had control in the Devils end.
The Caps spent most of the last 3 minutes of the game on the NJ side of center ice. The Devils never really had a chance to pull their goalie. Anyway, by the end of the game Ovie was so gassed he could hardly skate or swing his stick anyway. He had his chance on the breakaway, and couldn't convert.
Does anyone think we could use this emoji? Modified text and shrunk down to size, of course.

How do you figure my post is bs? Carlson has shown potential over the years of being a very good dman but he hasn't shown consistency until this season. And like with so many other players he has a career year when his contract ius going expire. So he will get a big raise but is he going to be able to repeat this season. It happens so often. It happened with Oshie last season.

You answer your own comment, Maaco. There was one instant where NJ had territory, but it didn't last long. Regardless, my concern is NOT about NJ's tactics, but the Capitals'.I was hoping Ovi would get 50 but they overplayed him in that 3rd period trying to get him that 50th.
This game, in a certain way, may have been a disaster for the Caps. It was absolutely FOOLISH of them to have Ovie out on the ice for most of the last 7 minutes of this game, trying to get that 50th goal. I could see this coming from the very beginning -- when Ovie scored early, I turned to my wife and said "oh oh, now they're going to overwork him and try to feed him to get the hat trick." And that is exactly what happened.
The human body has thresholds, and after they are crossed you can have all the good intentions and effort in the world, but your body simply will not respond in the same way as it did before you crossed it. It's true both physically and mentally, and it is true in virtually all sports. In hockey specifically, there are thresholds at all stages of competition. If a shift is too long you can't respond well at the end of it. Too much exposure in a game and you can't respond in the same ways you did earlier. After too much cumulative wear and tear in a season, players wear out and their production suffers. And we all know the "lost a step" threshold that virtually all players cross in the latter stages of their careers.
You could ask the fans around me last night -- all during the game, I was shouting at the team and Ovie to get him off the ice. That breakaway he had in the 3rd period was his chance to get #50. After he didn't convert, I just watched in horror as NJ took penalties and he/the coaches refused to get him off the ice.
This to me may have been a defining franchise moment, and the player and the team failed. Do not be at all surprised if one of the defining commentaries during these playoffs is that Ovie is invisible, or just doesn't have it. A 32-year-old abusing himself/being abused in this way risks crossing the "seasonal threshold" of endurance. The pursuit of the personal goal in this case may have risked the golden goose scoring asset that this franchise has for the next couple of months.
I hope I'm wrong, and Ovie can help carry the team offensively during the playoffs. But that game last night unnecessarily put that at risk.
I was hoping Ovi would get 50 but they overplayed him in that 3rd period trying to get him that 50th.
If Ovi had already reached 50 I'm sure he would have been rested. They rested him a couple years ago when he reached 50.
Isnt that par for the Caps course? One team is resting, getting ready for the show and the other is chasing personal goals, as usual? :poop:
I don't give a shit either. Just pointing out the priorities of the Caps.. Trying to get ready to fight for a Stanley cup and they're throwing their star(s) out there hoping he can get a fucking hat trick.. Or working Holtby's ass off so he has a shot at some meaningless regular season record nobody in DC will give a fuck about, if they never win a Stanley Cup.. :poop:Damn right!
"Hey grandpa, didn't the Caps once have the best goal scorer and goalie who ever lived? Why yes Jr, they sure did!! But did they ever win a Stanley Cup with them?? Um, well.. fuck.. Shut up Jr!!" lol
Damn right!
I’d of loved to heard the call/conversation and/or read the email or texts from Teddy, Dickless, that contained the orders for this to be top priority.
Sorry, we don’t have the playoff resume to chasing stats in game 82.
If 50 was so important, maybe they shouldn’t have taken shifts off. uses the same playbook for the past 19years, or not done turnover-drag after turnover-drag all season, so you don’t have to play the exact opposite of playoff hockey the last game of the season
the bigger issue with this core squad, you can clearly see the difference in play when they are chasing a goal they truly want....
One would think the best trophy in professional sports would be worthy of such effort
