So they get three days rest which hopefully will get Ovi what he needs to get going.

I still hope they bring in Sgarabosa.  Ideally he would replace Pacioretti who has been a waste of a jersey.  Apparently he refused a trade at the deadline which ticks me off and should be reason enough for them to sit him - however, the rest of the league would consider that a slap in the face to a renowned veteran - so they won't do it.

If they don't sit Pacioretti, I would it Protas and send him a message.  He has just done nothing the last 30 games and when he does get a chance at scoring he has hands of stone.  They need to light a fire under him.

I hate to say it, but they also should sit Oshie.  He has made a bunch of bad decisions and turnovers and I'm afraid he is just done. Love his heart, but his legs and body can't do it on a consistent basis.

The Caps are outclassed.  They are outmatched in every aspect of the game.  The Rags are better at every single aspect.  We don't match up with them anywhere.
Even Carbs system of man on man hurts vs Rags because we are weaker by each man and slower.  When one guy can't keep his man, they have an advantage or open man.  When 4 of the 5 cant stay with their man....well...you get what we had here last week...
The Caps simply are not good enough, and they are not catching any breaks either.  They'd have to get some breaks, Lindy have exceptional game, and maybe we could steal one.  We hang with them for moments or stretches of games, but not for an entire game.

We are all disappointed, but is anyone surprised by this?

Oh, and I caught some of the Oilers 1st game...man when they are clicking, they are friggin awesome to watch.  They'd make the Rags look slow.
They are suspect in goal though IMO.

Yea, most all the other games look much faster than ours because we aren't in them. :snicker:   This team needs a comprehensive rebuild and I'm not convinced we have the management (see GM) to get it right.  Our recent drafting has certainly been less than auspicious.

I'm certainly not.  And it shows why the team's integrity in willing itself to the playoffs with this crew, while it was noble, has NOT been in the best interests of the franchise.  When you lose your top two centers and have no remotely equivalent replacements, and when half your defense is injured, you can't compete.  It isn't just the players you lose.  It's the guys you have to move up in the lineup to play against opponents they don't match up against.  That's why a few top players can make all the difference to a team.  It isn't just their capabilities; it's that they move other players down in the lineup to play against guys they match up better against.

The only reason that Iorio went "dangerously into the boards" is because he wasn't strong on his skates.  Players aren't going to see every hit or shove coming and they can't just go down like a soggy waffle when they get touched.  This was also quite different from the Jensen hit where the puck was long gone and he had no reason to expect that hit coming as it did.  The Jensen play was definitely a penalty.  The other one wasn't.

I can't see this crew winning a game.  They look totally outclassed.  When the Rangers decide to turn it up, we have no answers.  Unless Lindgren could cobble together a shutout or one goal game, they won't have to bother returning to NYC.

The inexperience on the blue line is so evident vs a team like the Rags

So Ovi just looks gassed.  A long season and all those games at the end did him no favors. For that matter, I think the whole team was exhausted at the end and could have used a few days off.  Three days in between now would help a lot.

this has been the worst officiating of a playoff series I can remember.  Calling BS questionable calls and then just flat out blowing the biggest one in the series?
So when they took the 8 seconds to review that and determine there was not head contact...was that on their own or did they actually communicate with Toronto?  And HTF did they come to that conclusion?  Oshie/Caps fan or not...that was a hit to the head.  Intentional or not...main point of contact was the head.
The refs are supposed to officiate the game, not be part of it.  Shove them whistles up your arses and let the guys play the game.  They are killing the flow and momentum of the game  (not sure that hurts the Caps honestly, but this is BS to watch)
