Title: Hot Rods
Post by: alta on Wednesday January 03, 2018, 03:51:23 PM Eastern
now I've played the hot rod game, but it was with gas. I've never seen a gas motor come apart like this. This almost makes me want to build diesel next. But my dream hot rod pick up would have an Allison V12 in it ;D . If I had to guess that was probably about $30K blowing up on the stand. If you pay attention to the clip of the first truck it has slicks on the front axle too!

I found some follow up on that engine build, it is, or was, a 6 cylinder Cummings based motor. The guys had the boost peaked at 147 pounds when it blew and the dyno reached 2200 horsepower at detonation!

good lord, I had to laugh at that one 🤣. They know way more thanO do, but even I thought they shoulda quit while they where ahead 🤣

Are those guys from around here? The second clip look MIR/ Buds Creek.

I only took the ‘Stang there once, best run was mid 12s (not bad for a daily driver with all season Perelleis, and a driver who’s only dragged one time before and that was almost 20 years ago 🤣)

I never got into hot ridding diesel because I don't like the smoke. Your standard factory gas powered car with a turbo may run anywhere from 3-6 pounds of boost(psi). On the extreme end of factory you may find 12. Even tractor trailers that have Cat engines with Pistons the size of my leg only run 6-7 psi, and that would be the ones out west that are tuned up to 600hp for the mountains. 147 psi is insane

This, (unfortunately fictional), is perfect for my commute through downtown Baltimore to the office . . . And one of the perfect cars for me:

Damn near it! Hence the 800+ho & 250 Nos . . .

But, the Tombstooe can be “dropped”, thus becoming a solid steal projectile at some one behind you, and instantly dropping the weight at the same time 😈
