Glad for Friday....except I don't want to wait that long, but it would be good for the fellers to get some needed rest and healing.  Hopefully TB will be stale and rusty by then.

I sure hope we ramp it up and the boys level of intensity is like never before.  I also hope big Willy is mad as a hornet and unleashes his fury for this stupid league with some serious bad-ass 1st line winger scoring and hitting.

GO CAPS!

8pm starts?  WTF?  since when does either the Caps or TB start at 8pm?

Kuzya in his interview said nice words winning the game for missed guys. Wilson was top of list. I hope he'll play well and wont be suspended again.

Best comment on the RMNB thread:

Quote
As you can see from this replay, if he stays down through his approach, Tom Wilson is lined up to lay a clean, open arm hug. However, he unnecessarily leaves his feet, catching his unsuspecting teammate up high. There is noticeable head movement and an odd toothy grimace on the player's face.
You can also see that Tom Wilson is guilty of being Tom Wilson, a clear violation of rule #43
In addition, Tom Wilson is classified as a repeat hugger under the current collective bargaining agreement for a prior hug to a defenseless teammate
To recap:• This is a high hug• Tom Wilson is a repeat high hugger• He has violated rule #43 (being Tom Wilson)
The Department of Player Safety has suspended Tom Wilson for eleventy zillion games because reasons.

I’m still amazed we didn’t get any real Hens trolls. One guy responded with some info and was deleted. In years past there would have been several trolls even with the hens losing a couple games. The Caps winning is the best defense against trolls though.  Historically we’ve only had issues with Hens trolls.

While I do have an HF account, I barley use it. I did ask a question about Cindey diving when the series started and my question got deleted for trolling. It irritated me because other than spelling it in the female I didn’t think it was a trolling question. So now I really have zero interest in HFBoards, and the only reason I went there at all was to see if there was any info about the Hens.nhl boards being shut down.

Sure, it's general. Nothing scientific. It's just what I felt after reading their posts, Pens compare to TBs the modest guys.

They have thier moments that’s for sure, but I’ll take em over the Pennslytuckey Hens fans anyday!

In many ways I’m rather envious.  They two are based in transient, destination town, which causes a high volume of visitor fans in the game and city as we have.

Yet while The Caps and much of the fans  generally promote the “Everybody is welcome” message, their fans have a strong nationalist-like view that is supported by their ownership and management

For example, one of my best friends who lived in FLA was going man get tickets for this series:  No Visiting Jerseys allowed.  We thought about going down for a game, but you can only buy tickets if your an FLA resident.

This is the type of environment and orginizational support that we’ve needed for years.

Heard on the radio today that a source says Backstrom's hand is broken. If so that's not good at all. We can't beat Tampa in a series without him at full strength. We can win a game or two,  but a series? That's a tall order.

There is no way ticket sales restrictions are legal, and I highly doubt the jersey restrictions are either. As much as I hate to see so many visitors sweaters at the Cap Center, I don't agree with banning them. Even if it's just for the playoffs.

I would love to see someone that can afford it challenge it.

I looked at tickets on StubHub and the only ones that listed restrictions were the seats on the glass.

Besides, if you block visiting fans, the other team doesn’t, thrn organize road crews and trips to the other stadium, you’re tram will have the fan number advantage through out the series. . .

I like metro in Paris, Shanghai, in Moscow also pretty good one. In the US pubic transportation is mostly sado-maso.

Will definitely be more difficult without Backstrom, but if we can win one game, then we can win 4.  The whole team needs to be firing on all cylinders like they have been.  Full 60 minute games, stay out of the penalty box, keep pressure on their offense.  We can do it.

If Backstrom is out, there will be a lot riding Kuzy.

He played the game of his life in game 6, but he’ll need to do that every game.  Given career of ups and downs it is quite worrisome.   The fact is he won’t toe-drag around Herman and their D, nor will no look passes not turn into odd-man rushes.

According to this WaPo (https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/sports/wp/2018/04/30/bruins-gear-barred-from-some-lightning-seats-and-boston-fans-arent-thrilled/?noredirect=on&utm_term=.f1b29de12aa9) article from the last series it only applies to two areas, which are exclusively STH seats.  (It doesn't affect me at all because I don't have the $2k that it would cost for airfare and nosebleed seats for my son and I to go on Friday or the following Saturday anyway.   The DC games are out because they are school night games and I won't take him out for 2 days to go to a game.)

"The policy only applies to two areas: the Lightning’s Lexus Lounge, which includes seats against the glass, and the Chase Club luxury suites, according to Bill Wickett, the team’s executive vice president of communications. Those seats are all held by Lightning season ticket-holders, and because they aren’t available for public sale, they’re only available on the secondary market. The seats in question account for 9 to 10 percent of the Amalie Arena seating, Wickett said."

yea, but even by American standards the D.C. area metro sucks ass. The coverage area of the subway is pitiful for a city where over %80 of the workforce commutes from the suburbs to downtown, and management of the metro sucks ass too

Sad to see that some things never change.  Metro was unreliable when I lived there in the early 2000s.  How they are perpetually underfunded (so they claim) when the city kills every road project and gives it to Metro is beyond me.

The biggest problem with the DC metro is it's design failure.  DC metro is the only subway system in America that doesn't have at least 3 tracks.  No mass transit system should be designed where single tracking is acceptable.  3 tracks allow maintenance without interruption.  So blame the f'tards that wanted to save a little money initially by not thinking this clearly.

I’ve said this before, but the more I look at, the more I’m concerned about the match up between our forwards and their D.

Just look at this (this the only site I know of that has good scouting reports)

Victor Hedman (http://forecaster.thehockeynews.com/player/6552):  one of, maybe the best Dman in the league
Two that we’re familiar with, familiar with us and have knocked us out a few times
Dan Girardi (http://forecaster.thehockeynews.com/player/5546) (who was in our summer camp )
Ryan McDonagah (http://forecaster.thehockeynews.com/player/6209)
Then
Braydon Corburn (http://forecaster.thehockeynews.com/player/2839)
Then you have
Sergachev (http://forecaster.thehockeynews.com/player/16023)
Strallman (http://forecaster.thehockeynews.com/player/4966)  their only 5th forward/Offensive D

5 Defensive Dman that still can chip in and skate, and one 18 point puck mover

We sure as hell cant count on just scoring a lot.

I wonder, if Backstrom can't go, if the idea is to put Burakovsky on line 2 and move Stephenson to 2C (or keep Eller at 2C and make Stephenson 3C).  Stephenson has been such a revelation lately, and is defensively responsible enough, that he might be able to handle it, even making the switch now in the playoffs.  In a way, I like Stephenson more than Eller there, because Stephenson strikes me as more of a distributor, and both Burakovsky and Oshie qualify as snipers who need to get the puck in advantageous positions.  Over his career one of Eller's weaknesses is that he doesn't distribute the puck all that well.

I'm sure if Burakovsky shows rust or doesn't look as if he can handle the assignment, that he WILL be on a short leash and will be interchanged with Vrana.

Tampa's defense is big and heavy except for Strahlmain.  They are strong, but not all that quick.  The key on offense should be puck movement and quick passes to try to circumvent the D.  I think that may be why Burakovsky may be moved back into the lineup at this point -- he's got speed and elusiveness; he's sort of a poor man's Kuznetsov in that regard.  I wonder, though, if it might not be a bad idea, if Burakovsky is at 2LW, to switch Wilson and Oshie to give him and Stephenson more protection.

You're right.  Backstrom would be an enormous piece to lose if he can't go.  And even if he does, I think it's clear that he won't be able to shoot and stickhandle as usual.  He probably ought to be kept off the PP because Tampa would simply ignore him and play the others 4 on 4.  Maybe if he is limited he should play 3C, let Eller play 2C, and play more on the PK rather than the PP.  He might still be able to play defense, and the only reason he doesn't play much on the PK now is to limit his minutes.  Problem is, would he have enough hand strength to get pucks out of the zone?

It appears that if Backstrom doesn’t play and that seems to be likely that Eller will center the 2nd line with Vrana and Oshie on the wings.  Stephenson is going to center the third line with Burakovsky and Connolly on the wings.  I thought the Eller line played really well against Pittsburgh in game 6 and hopefully they will have another good game tonight.
