Capitals forward Andre Burakovsky will be a healthy scratch against the Blue Jackets
(https://img.washingtonpost.com/wp-apps/imrs.php?src=https://img.washingtonpost.com/rf/image_960w/2010-2019/WashingtonPost/2016/10/19/Production/Daily/Sports/Images/612910270-1474.jpg&w=1484)

As the Capitals forwards zipped around the ice Friday morning, Andre Burakovsky leaned against the glass and watched.
Burakovsky turned 23 Friday, but was the Capitals’ odd forward out during the team’s morning skate, indicating he will be a healthy scratch when they face the Columbus Blue Jackets (27-22-4) at Capital One Arena at 7 p.m. Capitals Coach Barry Trotz will sit Burakovsky for the fourth time in the last 15 games, all part of a disappointing season for the forward. He also missed two other games due to illness in that stretch, which comes after missing 22 games in the first half of the season after surgery for a broken thumb.
Burakovsky, who signed a two-year, $6 million contract in the summer, has four goals and seven assists in 28 games this season.
[Ranking the New York Rangers’ trade assets (http://www.washingtonpost.com/news/fancy-stats/wp/2018/02/09/the-new-york-rangers-are-selling-ahead-of-the-nhl-trade-deadline-who-should-teams-be-buying/)]
“It definitely has not been easy. This is not really what I was expecting of this year at all,” Burakovsy said after the Capitals practiced Thursday. “I mean we still have the most important part left of the season, so just going to get ready for the playoffs and help the team as much as I can.”
In recent weeks, Burakovsky has bounced around Trotz’s lines, going from the bench to the fourth line, up to the second line with Nicklas Backstrom and T.J. Oshie, and then down to the third line with Lars Eller and Brett Connolly in a 3-2 win over the Blue Jackets on Tuesday. But Burakovsy played just 6:34 in the Blue Jackets’ win and did not touch the ice in the third period.
Trotz has constantly talked about the competition for ice time among his bottom-six forwards. That includes Jakub Vrana, Alex Chiasson, Devante Smith-Pelly and Chandler Stephenson. Burakovsky’s participation level was similar during Thursday’s practice, as he rotated on just a few rushes and stayed on the bench as the Capitals worked on their power play. Trotz has expressed the need to send messages to Burakovsky and the 21-year-old Vrana when their play lags, and Burakovsky is again receiving that treatment from his coach.
“We know Andre, we’ve all seen that he’s a good player,” Trotz said Thursday. “We’ve seen it in the past, he was good in the playoffs, all that. He just hasn’t found his game right now, and some of the decisions he was making I’m just sort of trying to get his attention a little bit.
“I think Andre is going to be a guy we need down the stretch, and we’ve seen it. I need him. We need him. He just needs to find his game within our game a little bit, and it’s been a struggle for him this year for the most part. He really hasn’t gotten a lot of traction. But at the same time he hasn’t found his game.”

It might have thrown off Bobovsky.

It might have thrown off Bobovsky.
Oh I damn near guarantee ya it did. Everyone knows that it’s a pass to Ovie 99% of the time, so Bobo was cheating and/or not looking for Eller to shoot
-
Personkind??
-
It looked to me like Bobrosky was totally ready for Eller to shoot. Eller just mailed the shot right under his glove.
-
Our defense is utterly pathetic. Slow. Puck watching. Relying too much on Holtby to bail them out. It is pure luck that the game is not tied up after those last few minutes.

That is so weird that you posted that tonight. I just watched Slap Shot today for the first time since it came out around the time I became a fan.

That sequence by Niski was the best grittiest play I’ve seen from the DCorps all year. . . Guess he hadn’t completely checked out yet

Very nice PK to end the period.

??? ??? ??? . . . First time since?!?!?
Here I was just realizing I’ve been slacking because I haven’t watched it since October

I realized today that the prick Ogelthorpe based his username on the character Ogie Ogilthorpe in Slap Shot. I did not even remember that name till I saw it again today.

We've never talked about it in here and I've never run into it since it came out. Out of sight out of mind.

I commented on the other site that I liked his username. Had no clue you had issues with him.

I had no issue with him. In fact I never even knew his username until I was banned from the site and some folks said he may have had something to do with it and apparently had a problem with me.

This site is programmed to not accept ANY username that contains the words "Oglethorpe" :poop: or "mbayne". :poop:

Alta, do you approve of the barfing emoji?
I had been searching for a good one for a week. The only one I could find that was any good was huge, had a white background, and had text in it. After your request I used that one and did some heavy editing to each frame to come up with this one.

Oshie kicked him in the gonads with the back of his skate. The worst kind of hit too, straight up from underneath.

You totally missed my point. I have noticed when we get called for an offside infraction you guys call it offsides even though it should be singular. Is this an American thing? You know like how Americans think we say eh! or aboot here in Canada. I'll admit I've heard people say eh but never once in my life time have I ever heard anyone say aboot.

Did Oshie do that on purpose?
I seriously doubt it, most importantly he isn't that kind of guy, it was a quick play and was trying to balance himself
-
There were some positives in this game. The defensive zone coverage was a but better. They gave up some shots but not a lot of high scoring chances. Our cycle game was decent. We ate up some time in the offensive zone but we still dont shoot enough. We need to work on our breakouts. I think our wingers need to give our dmen better support and give them a target to pass to.
Holtby was solid again. Not much he could do on either goal. A fluke bounce and a nice tip by Panarin. I think new should ride Holtby the rest of the season and give Grubauer a game on the back to backs. Surprisingly Holtby is only 13th in games played amongst goalies.

13th? Is there a 12-way tie for 2nd?
But our goalie situation for the rest of the year and the next couple will be interesting if not distressing. If we don’t play Grubby enough, he’s not going to get enough game time to create value to move him as it’s incredibly unlikely he’ll resign here. Yet, as we’ve seen, goalies for us need to be, or play like an elite goalie to win.
Then in Hershey, Colepy is not winning every game by him self as he needs to. Which begs the question if he’ll be the one man defense-scheme this origbization uses
-
Holtby has been in 40 games. I think Lundquist leads at 47. I've always felt Holtby plays better when he gets in more games. He has played better the last couple of games so I wouldn't mess with things. As for Grubauer I dont know what we should do with him. I dont feel he is a starting NHL caliber goalie. He isn't the greatest technician that's for sure. He isnt a reflex goalie like Quick. And he isn't a big body like Bishop. Which is why I have compared him to Neuvirth. I'm hoping Samsonov will be ready for the NHL in a couple years.
