Geez.  Glad the Nats signed him, and I'm not totally surprised, but 7 years.....Stras ain't gonna last till age 38 as a starter. IMO.  Not a $35m one, anyway.  Please prove me wrong.  He did have his best year last year.  I just think the YEARS of starting pitch count adds up eventually.


I think this pretty much means the Nats will NOT sign Rendon.  Don't think they will cough up that much dough again.  They already have Max and Corbin on big $$$.  Now Stras...


I mean it's great to have three great pitchers (ahem, World Series), but I would absolutely love to have Rendon back.  I just don't think it will happen


I think Rendon will end up in Texas (closer to home).

Nothing more. I did forward her attempts to access this site to DonaldTrump.com for about 20 minutes after she made a very rude comment to me about Trump  :snicker: , but other than that nothing. She was really upset over the Nationals threads here ruining her hockey board experience.  I hope she gets over it soon.

There were a few times I saw Panik standing around their goal just puck watching instead of battling and making space.  Quite a few Caps appeared to linger tonight as opposed two their usual aggressive attack on the puck.  They were just not prepared in any fashion for this game. I think as Mick stated it was a trap game for sure.

I didn't say anything (not that I ever would ahead of a game), but I had a strong feeling today that this game was not going to be pretty.  Big game coming up Wednesday; just came off a long successful road trip; have already won 6 in a row; Bäckström returning causing shuffling of the lines;  I think these were all working to encourage complacency and excuses tonight.  Plus the Jackets were on a 4-game skid and hungry to prove themselves.  The classic trap formula painted a bleak picture for us tonight and we obliged.

well that was ugly. but that's only the second egg they've laid this year, that's one every 16-17 games, not a bad ratio

 I was a little surprised at all the line mixup, due to Backys’ return!
 May have contributed to a giant lack of chemistry tonight, overall!


 Panik may be on borrowed time.  Boyd would have been the better insert!


 Torts had his guys motivated tonight, and that goalie played pretty well!
 Holtby was the main reason this game was even close at the start of the third P.


 I DID notice that Seigenthaler was really making an effort to up his physicality on the boards!  His defensive skills are very steadily improving!

I think Reirden is doing a very good job. In spite of last night egg they laid, this team seems leaps and bounds better overall than any previous Caps team.  I hope the lack of battle in them last night was due to looking ahead to tomorrow's Bruins game. What we saw last night was a hungry Jackets team and a feckless Caps team; not a good indication of where this team has been overall.

odd that last night was the first time this season the entire squad has played because of injuries and a suspension, seemed chemistry was off as the passing sucked, but a bad bad night all around as Holts let in a couple softies

Well....I'd say (other than last night) he has done well.  He's going to get the Lion's share of blame for anything and everything that goes wrong, so he should get the kudos when they're due.  Caps have been one of if not the best team all year so something is right with what he is doing with this team.
