Milano’s career stats aren’t much before he was a Cap. I’m guessing tonight is his first career hat trick, though I’ve not heard such from the announcers.

Canes had two called back tonight, should’ve guessed some trash would fall in
-
it’s a dueling hat trick game, between Aho and Milano. The last Cap dueling hat trick game was outdoors against the Hens.

What a dumb game. lol Got at least a point out of it anyway.

Get the saddle ready for Chucky!!! Unless there's a back2back, we need to ride him home..

See what happens Sunday.. Another NHLnet game unfortunately. :-( Early bird. 12:30pm.
Last 20 games, need 11-8-1 to have a chance. Currently 4-3-0 W1

Two back-to-backs in April, including one to end the season, against Boston and then Philadelphia.
Mick, you're right - the Caps' chances of getting a top 10 pick in the draft are receding into the rear view mirror, and it looks as though the playoff race could come right down to the end. I guess it would be good for the young players to get a taste of what playoff hockey is like, but it sure feels as if we are going to get stuck in longer-term middle-of-the-pack mediocrity, if not worse.
-
Well my damn direct tv didn’t record it so I only saw the 3rd period
FFS can the caps end a period without allowing a goal?
So what I did like is Carbs put young legs out in OT. I saw Milano, McMike and Lappy all get multiple shifts. They managed to get Ovi out there and thankfully it didn’t cost us the win
Nice work in SO by Lindy and good on Strome. Too bad Milano didn’t score in SO
Going to be a close finish.
-
Definitely whackiest game of the year. 2 reviews went our way. Started out behind but got the lead, then lost it, then got it back multiple times. We usually get blown out in these, but it was our night.

My how the standings have changed in the past week.
Last week the Caps were in the middle of a large pack of teams out of/on the edge of playoff contention, and the Caps were coming off two lopsided losses on their West Conference trip. They had a legitimate possibility of finishing as low as 8th worst in the league if they continued to struggle.
Now, with the Caps having finished that trip in style and gained separation on most of those teams, AND with almost 1/3 of the remaining schedule having been played, the Caps' playoff chances have improved slightly but not hugely - but barring an epic collapse on their part it's hard to see how they could finish much lower than 13th. They still have games in hand on teams below them, who aren't playing very well results-wise, and the schedule for these other teams to pass them is rapidly shrinking.
The most beneficial hopes left are that the Caps either play well enough to sneak into the playoffs and get youngsters some experience at least, or that they completely fall apart and finish something like 2-11, which MIGHT sink them back into the bottom 10 if teams below them play well enough. This team is resilient enough, though, that I don't expect the latter, so I guess we might as well root for the playoffs - but the most realistic expectation is the worst one: something like a finish 15th from the bottom, but out of the playoffs. Ugh.
