Douche Bag Braden Holtby declines visit to White House

Headline photo:     :poop:

Goalie Braden Holtby, an outspoken advocate of LGBTQIA+ insanity said,
    :lmao:
“I gotta stay true to my values and I’m gonna respectfully decline the offer.”

This is rich coming from a she-male country led by one Justin Trudeau.

The mindless CANADIAN goalie suffers from Trump Derangement Syndrome and accuses our president of being racist, homophobic, and sexist, but could not articulate an example of why he believes this.

The word around the league is that as a poorly educated millennial (meaning too much formal education) Holtby sees this as a PR stunt which will gain him favor with the perverts in our communities.

This writer hopes he gets glaucoma and never stops another goal.     :raspberry:

This is another trap game, we are playing a desperate team and we are bound to have a let down after the Tampa game.  We need the two points but I wouldn’t mind seeing it go to OT. The Wild are my second favorite team and I love Bruce Boudreau.  Leaving for the game shortly, GO CAPS.

I gotta wonder why someone isn't called up if Kempny is out indefinitely

Cap space is an issue.  Can't get LTIR relief on Kempny because there aren't enough games left in the season.  We're a stone's throw from Hershey and the rest of our road games are in the east, so there's little reason to eat cap right now when we can call someone up at a moment's notice.

I figure Reirden is waiting for final word from doctors on his possible return. If a long term thing he may bring in someone from Hershey to give them a couple games before the playoffs.

Also, I posted the Holtby thing here only because it is headline Caps news today. Since no one in the media (that wants to keep their job) would post an honest reporting  of the situation, so I thought I would. AFAIC Holts can be gone from the Caps and I wouldn't care.  I can't stand ignorant people that have a platform and speak treason to the country.  We sit on a precipice and all the stupid people could destroy the future of the entire planet over the next few years.

Per @CapFriendly (twitter)

They still have 6 d-men on the roster, but...
at 5pm ET today they'll have enough cap space to recall Ness
at 5pm ET tomorrow they'll have enough cap space to recall Lewington
at 5pm ET on Sunday they'll have enough cap space to recall Siegenthaler or Hobbs ... and so on

*Also note: Hagelin out tonight: Illness.

Gonna be tough to lose Connolly.  Gonna come down to him or Burakovsky, and if he keeps scoring goals he might price himself out of our range regardless.

I'd take Connolly at this point in time. I won't hold my breath that Burky can keep scoring as he has been lately. Bad track record and he's way overpaid.

It's funny, the post game guys are all saying how boring, bad, and ugly this game was.  You could feel it from the start. I did not even watch the 2nd and 3rd period. I just kept it on in the background quietly as I did other things.

Only guy that played well for us was Burakovsky.  Just an overall lazy game with zero hitting. Boy, am I glad I didn't pay for a ticket to the snoozer.  Not sure how to explain that one.

Those dopes done soured my Friday night..  :-(  I get a bad period or two but at some point you'd expect to at least produce some smoke.. Losses I can take, but just rollin over dead for the entire 60.. Concerning.

Shame the only guy who could possibly "fight" some life into em' plays on the 1 line and is our best forward.. Hard to ask him to be a goon at this point in the season, but we needed one tonight.

The following is a short list of euphemisms, used by a few coaches, players, and media, for the Caps, over the last couple of seasons.
They attempt to describe, (AND SOFT-SPIN, FOR THE FANS), the effort-lacking, and inexcusable phenomenon, that seems to randomly infect these players, WAY TOO OFTEN, in games like we’ve witnessed tonight, against Minnesota!

Coach Rierden - “Commitment level problem”
Coach Trotz - “Several guys NOT BUYIN’ IN tonight”
Holtby - “Maybe it wasn’t our best effort”
Oshie - “Every guy has to SHOW UP, and we didn’t have that tonight”
Carlson - “Can’t have guys who don’t feel like playin that night”
Locker - “They’ve taken their foot off the gas for all 3 periods tonight”
Joe B - “Caps are lookin lifeless and lethargic this evening”

HEY TED!!
I know I’m more old school, and You’re Caps are NOT the only NHL team, and the NHL is not the only Professional sport, where this “lack-of effort” stuff has become FULLY TOLERATED!!!

It has been a slow, and gradual process, starting with absolute NO TOLERANCE, or acceptance, of effort issues, from players (15-20 yrs ago).... morphing to a few professional coaches who began to TOLERATE it, but if you were a superstar, MGMNT might look the other way..... to NOW,.... full blown making of excuses, and rationalizations, (with the support of the MEDIA), for why a team shows up, and basically plays like they don’t give a SHIT, on many nights!!

Father Time has been the interface, that helps the general public to accept, GRADUALLY, NOW, this previously UNACCEPTED-BY-THE-FANS, atmosphere, that we witness, to our dismay!!
Many of us have reluctantly, and grudgingly, GIVEN IN!!  WHY???.... because you well know, as do your fans,  that there’s not much we can do about it.  PERIOD!

You have received in excess of $10K/annually, 4 years going, now, out of MY POCKET, for my season tickets!! Truthfully, I say, NO PROBLEM!! I knew the deal when I got in!
The chase for the Cup, honestly, is the main reason that I renewed, the last two seasons!! Thanks to your entire organization for that!!

NOW, I can, and have made, a less emotional, and VALUE DRIVEN decision, which Monumental required me to do so, by March 15th, 2019. That was, whether to RENEW again!

Frankly, you’re kind tickets rep will inform you that I DID NOT RENEW!!
I WILL be at the playoffs this year, as those have been purchased already!!
After that, my seats go elsewhere!

I will still be a loyal Caps fan, just as before! The Stanley Cup, the exciting games, with their emotional
ups and downs, as well as the journey to get to the TOP, have been well worth it!!

It has, however, hit a point, for me personally, where, when the journey is REGULARLY tainted with players who play HALF ASS, often, and YOU, SIR, who are ultimately responsible for affecting a change, HAVE NOT DONE SO, (despite the teams overall success), it completely CHEAPENS ITS VALUE, for me!!

YOU, Mr Leonsis, need only to witness last nights game performance, which symbolically represents well, the BIGGER ISSUE, in order to discover why MY $10K, will go elsewhere, while I happily, (and with much less stress), watch our beloved Washington Capitals, from the comfort of my LIVING ROOM next year!!
Thanks for the memories!
LETS GO CAPS!!

Rush - you lasted one year longer than I did.  Although I gave up my seats because I was moving, I would have given them up anyway.  I shared them with three other guys the last couple of years I had them and none of them wanted to continue.  While you have the season tickets, it is easy to get immune to the cost because you do it all up front and rationalize it - without having to buy tickets to individual games and be reminded each time.

Now I got lucky because my last year ended up being the Cup year and I would have really kicked myself if I had given up the seats a year early.  I also had the tickets for the years when I took my girls to a lot of games and it was a great father-daughter bond, so I would not have changed that.

When I didn't renew, it was interesting what the reaction was from my ticket rep.  He went from being a typical marketing guy to a very cold and harsh reaction.  He asked why I wasn't renewing and I gave him my reasons which I thought would be good feedback.  Instead of saying "thanks for the feedback and we appreciate you being a season ticketholder for 10 years" or "what can we do to keep you - we really appreciate having you as a season ticketholder"  he was really rude and left me angry.  I have another story about how they handled a friend that had been a season ticketholder for 30 years or so and it was really sad and a terrible business practice.

Anyway, I now watch every game with my Roku and NHL subscription and love it. I don't miss not going the games, but know that I can always swing back into town and get tickets whenever I want.  Welcome to the couch-watchers!

LOL, thanks Beags!
I’ve been waiting to pull the trigger on this for several years now, but hung in there instead, and I’m glad I did. Also glad to be leaving the thing, as is!
You make a good point, that I can always catch a game, here and there.

It’s funny that you mentioned your experience with the tickets rep, when you cancelled. I had used the words “your kind rep”, in my post!  I should have alluded to it being extremely sarcastic in nature!!
He was very good during my time, but very cold shouldered and negative, when I cancelled!! One example was that during the phone conversation, he asked why I was cancelling. Stating my reasons, as mentioned earlier, (much shorter, and to the point), he was simultaneously typing my response as I spoke. He would then read it back to me, using a tone suggesting my reasons were ridiculous, and near laughable! (Oh yeah, that sure helped HIS cause)!!LOL!!
He then proceeded to tell me what I hear often, that “it’s just the way the game is going”. Then adding, “there’s really not much you can do”!
I said back to his young, smart ass, “Actually there is something I can do! You’re actually helping me with it, right now”!   That incident just helped to put a period on it, that my decision was correct!

Thanks for the “couch club”, welcome, Beags!!

Yes, but those seats ARE by and large sold -- many to corporate interests, so they are filled whenever some people are available to use them.  I know a few corporate people or their relatives who get tickets to select games and go, but it's a tax write-off as much as anything.

I also am giving up my season tickets, and as well, am not going to this year's playoffs.  My reason is different than most -- I was disappointed in yet another 8% price hike on my tickets, but I had already decided to give them up because I have family financial issues that need to be dealt with, and the money can be better used elsewhere.

The Caps didn't have it last night.  It looked like a prototypical down game after they gave a max effort against Tampa.  Other teams often had that happen to them after playing the Caps when they were on top of the league points-wise.  A lot of times, for example, the Pens would lose their next game or two after facing the Caps.

Tom Wilson has had a fabulous season, but he especially struggled last night.  Nothing went right for the guy.  Ovie didn't do much, but then, the Wild cheated toward him as much or more than I've seen any other team do this season.  It was especially obvious on the PP -- they had a guy shadowing him even when the puck was on the other side of the ice, and were content to play 4 on 3.  But in the final analysis the game came down to puck luck.  On the Wild break where they scored the winning goal the puck was sitting nicely for the guy as he picked it up and skated down the slot, so he could choose his time to shoot.  On Wilson's breakaway coming out of the box the puck was tumbling, so he had to skate in on Dubnyk (sp?) while gaining control of it, and ended up too close to the net before he could do anything.

The Caps tried -- they had the puck in the Wild zone about 80% of the time after the Wild broke the tie, but they never got a really clean look at the goal.

Rush

Rush - my guy asked me why I was cancelling and I asked him if he really wanted to know. I then gave him three reasons: 1) They had increased the ticket prices every year even though the team had underperformed in the playoffs, 2) that the GM had made terrible moves at the trade deadline including the Forsberg-Erat and Shattenkirk debacles, and 3) the Caps were peaking and heading into a slow decline as Ovi and Backstrom aged with big contracts.  He then got very cold and said "well you know if you cancel you tickets you will go to the back of the line in the future".

It was shocking to me that I got that treatment after 10 years of giving them a bunch of money.  I thought he would say nice things and try and do whatever he could to keep me. Instead, it was the slamming of a door in my face.  I don't know how they train young people, but this was no way to run a business.

I can tell you that when I let my rep know that I was not renewing for next season, the rep thanked me for my years of support and was very gracious about the whole thing.

My first rep gave good respectable service. This was when I was up in Section 408.
It’s here that I must mention that Monumental does, however, have a practice of generally NOT allowing a season ticket holder to upgrade his seats at renewal time, (March 15th or so, every year).

They only allow a season ticket holder, (STH), to upgrade his seats, at a special “seat swap” event, every summer. The idea is they want to be able to offer nicer seats to NEW BUYERS. The same tix that come from STH folks who have cancelled at March 15th, deadline! Those juicy tickets are only made available to NEW Buyers. They are bought up quickly BEFORE the summertime “seat swap”, that the STH’s are forced to wait for!  And the pickin’s, then,  are not that good!!!

This means a Newbie can get his hands on better season ticket seats, than any of the OLD season ticket holders. This is one of the biggest issues I have, as it means they treat a New buyer, better than their PROVEN, RELIABLE, and LOYAL, STH’s !!   It’s ass-backwards marketing to me!!

Here’s the real kicker! When I was in 408, with 3 seats, (approx $5K/year), I wanted to BUY better seats in Sec. 105, (approx. $10K/year)!!......THEY REFUSED, even under threat of my cancellation of my 408 season tix!!

THIS REP was quite gracious, and said he regretted my cancellation, there was nothing he could do, and thanked me.  I cancelled that day, in March of 2016, for renewal, but also asked my rep if he would have his Mgr. call me. The rep said that his boss was already planning on calling me in about an hour! I said ok.
I got the call, and it was extremely negative-toned, from the start. This guy tried starting a “fear of loss” vibe, with me, right off the bat!

I quickly “readjusted”, both HIM, and the tone of the talk, as well, and he piped down! (I was livid at this point), but kept my cool.....FINALLY, after feeling like I’d been in a conversation at the closing desk in a used car salesman’s offfice, the Mgr. offered me the seats in sec 105!

I hopped on it, in spite of that SOB, was given a different rep, who was also decent UNTIL I cancelled this year!
Love the Caps, but the Sales and marketing dept, leaves precious little to like, IMO, and also has VERY HIGH turnover rate!
To be fair, I’ve also heard some glowing comments, from some friends about their rep. So, most likely, it depends on who your rep is.
My rep experiences have been 50-50! Should have been MUCH better for the money, IMO!
No regrets though. at all, in the larger view of things!!
