McMichael skated on line one this morning at practice as OV sat out. Coach says OV is a game time decision. I’m guessing OV is playing.
Oilers at Hens tonight, my money is on the Oilers
-
So I was wondering about McMichael...is there some weird deal with the number of games he plays and the status of his contract as far as entry level or some shit? Are they manipulating it to their future benefit...or is it they just don't want the guy to play?
-
Coach isn't even sure Ovi will be able to play game 1 of the playoffs.. He aint playing tonight, 100%..

I think if they play 10 games in year that that burns a year of contract period prior to eligibility for RFA/UFA. That was why they sent Lapiere down early in the season. McMichael is well over that obviously. I just think they sat him after they added the two guys they traded for - which they had to do to justify the trades.

At the same time coach said OV is day to day. You know how these guys like to keep injuries a secret. I won’t be convinced OV sits tonight until he’s not out there for warmups.
-
OV out tonight, McMichael in on line 1
Chara and Nelson out for the Islanders with the non wuhan flu, Nelson is a last minute scratch so they are down a man tonight
-
Cool tribute! OVI, OVI, OVI!!!!! We're truly blessed to see the Gr8 on a nightly, season basis.. :uh-huh: :hearts:
Now time to go get 2 more points. Come on Sammy, you can do this!! :cross:
-
Play the song!!! Sheary Baby!!
-
Caps finally got an interference call go their way :)
-
Sammy may have great athletic ability, but his judgment sucks
:O=
-
:clown: :poop:
Other then Sheary's deflection, we look all out of sorts.. :-\
-
Oshie went to locker room to have his toe looked at after that blocked shot
and he’s back, must not be broken
-
the pp is weak tonight
-
Feels like we'll need some serious rabbit's foot action to win this one.. :-\
-
It's those fucking stupid blue jersey's, isn't it?

If this was mid season I might agree. But, the Islanders are playing for pride, while a man down. The Caps are playing to not get hurt, without OV.

I don't think playing MJ over McMichael is a matter of justifying the trade. At this point McMichael hasn't shown that he would be a significantly better offensive weapon than MJ, and the team would probably prefer MJ's maturity and perhaps somewhat better defensive awareness down the stretch and in the playoffs.
Larsson vs. McMichael isn't an issue. Larsson was brought in to fill out the Dowd/Hathaway line when Hagelin went down, a role McMichael isn't suited for.
Tonight's game probably is a tossup. Caps without Ovie AND have struggled at home all year for whatever reason(s). Isles seem to be fading badly down the stretch.

Caps get another chance with the pp
-
what a joke

Send Sammy back to Russia or wherever the hell he came from..
-
let’s see if they can make it 0 for 4
-
I guess giving up a couple goals in the 3rd period is gonna be our thing now.. :)

Team management desperately needs to invest in a new goalie coach, before investing in new goalies.
Oilers beat the Hens 5-1, nice to see the Caps be able to capitalize on that…
-
I really hope Backstrom is hurt, because if not, he is the slowest and least energetic guy in the NHL and it's going to be a long three more years.
Thought Jensen struggled tonight, but he gets a pass.
I said before that Sammy would be out of the league in three years..... make that two.
-
Let's get the playoff sweep over with and then start dismantling this roster. They've been painful to watch at home almost all year.
-
Going forward, the only guys I'd definitely keep (not including the youngsters) are Ovie, Wilson, Sheary, Dowd & Hathaway up front. Fehervary and Orlov on defense. That's it. Everbody else should either be available or actively moved. Backstrom and Oshie need to be released or retired. Just eat the salary if you have to. If they want to keep a goalie, it has to be Vanacek but they need a real #1 guy who can be relied on for long stretches. As for Laviolette, I haven't been impressed. They need a good, young coach not a retread who's been passed around the league for years. I'm sure there are plenty of guys in the minors or on other team's staffs who have the goods to be NHL head coaches. As for the FO, can they fire themselves?

Oooh - Fahhhh
Pathetic. A win and they play Rangers. A loss and they get Panthers.
I guess they decided they'd rather lose to the Panthers than to NRY in the 1st round. (Prolly a lot more golf courses in FLA and figured better get to them before it gets too hot)
WTF is Sammy's problem with losing his stick? I've never seen a goalie who loses it so much. That AND his net. Like someone else said - great skills, but FFS he should know where his net is by now and how to keep his stick.
