I'm a little curious as to why there's been NO questioning of the interference hit to Backy.  I mean shit happens, but if the rule is don't hit a defenseless player with his head down, let's evoke the Willy rule here and suspend the guy for 5 games.  :raspberry:

As has been oft repeated here and even before here, the Caps are historically hammered by the refs and league in the playoffs.  You can be sure that if say Tom Wilson hit someone like that he would have been out of the game and suspended.

I don't feel that way every time.  I seem to have developed a good sense of how the boys are playing and when they lose focus and are about to get scored on.  I have gotten to know each player by their skating and mannerisms and this translated into also sensing when they are off, lost, or tired.

I'd like to see more physicality right now.  We can wear these Isles out if we do.

Yea, bout time to be coach shopping.. Hate to really discuss it while their still playing meaningful games, but they're outclassed on the coaching and conditioning end. We aren't supposed to be great, but definitely not this bad. A team with a good structured D and forecheck just nullifies pretty much anything we try to do. TR not getting anywhere near what he should out of his players.

So I had the local NBCSN feed with all the regulars...which I'm assuming most of yuns did.
I managed to wake from the drowsey 3rd period and stay tuned for the talking heads.  (one of them is more than just head...ahem....Jordan Giorgio)


Anyway,
Alan May was a bit fired up.  While most of the folks were yacking about getting more out of the players and this is on the players, Alan May put this on the coaches.
"These guys were not ready to play (coach's fault).  They were unprepared.  They had no scheme...No changes were made other than random line changes throwing guys together with no practice".  He also said they looked tired in the third and that's the training staff/coaching fault.


I like May in that he sometimes tells it like it is and doesn't tow the party line.


I don't put this all on coaching.  The players have to play.  They all looked tired, uninterested and lost.  THe uninterested I put on the players.  The lost.....well that's on the coach.


Even when (if) we get swept in the 1st round, I don't see the Caps making a coaching change due to this silly year.  I think the only way they get a new coach is if Ovie or some others demand it, and I don't see that happening either


I don't blame TR for all this teams failures and short comings, but I also don't ever expect a Cup out of him with this team.  And IF a SC is your goal, then you need to put the parts in place to make that a realistic opportunity.  I don't see it with TR.  He's not horrible, but he's not great.

eye liner boy has got to be the least popular on screen personality they have, IMO. Carlin has been around for a few years and I don't think he's gotten any better. Alan May was terrible his first year, but he's gotten really good at his job. I also think they've got too many on screen employees, and carlin and that other guy are a victim of that.

I feel bad that Carlin got laid off but I never really liked him or thought he was particularly knowledgeable for some reason. He feels like that external hire your company makes for someone without much direct experience and he just "kinda gets by" but is never a rockstar.

Joe B and Locker are the best duo in the NHL. Alan May is great. After that it goes downhill pretty quick.
