Caps lose 6-3

Didn't even have time to mix my drink and it's 2 zip them. 4 odd mans and a double screen usually don't end well in the first 5 minutes. :(
-
GOOOAAALLLL
MALENSTYN
-
Malenstyn!! Cuts the deficit to 1.

I had the opening minutes on the radio. It sounded like Caps won the opening faceoff, attempted to dump it in and immediately had to defend a 3 on 1
-
McMike!! Where you been boi!! Tied at 2

GOOOAAALLLL
MCMICHAEL

Caps get a PP after the commercial

Yea, they gave up 3 odd mans in a row before they finally scored on the 4th. I assume Carlson started the game? If so he was out for at least 2 of them.
-
Right now Carlson is a +/- 0. Currently no one on the Caps is a -2, so a couple guys must’ve been out for both.
-
Mornin'. Sorry I'm late.
Looks like it's been interesting........
-
TvR is not officially listed as a scratch. He must still be sick.
-
Evenin' Lil. You missed the miracle on ice! We came back from 2 down.
-
I do wonder sometimes if the Caps org. have people who read our posts, sometimes.......
We have a pop at a player or two and they suddenly show up.
I was about to say something nice about Dylan and then he goes and shoves his dick in his ear for the last two games. :uh-huh:
-
Here's an experiment.......... Ovi is not capable of scoring a hattie ever again....... :snicker:
-
We took Ovi off at an offence thingymajig?

Once again, lots of bodies standing about doing nothing.
-
Our D needs a shake up, badly.
We have rec league goalies and junior calibre D. :'(
-
Ah well, the knife then the twist. Maybe they keep it close and Ovi gets a chance at the end with the extra skater..
-
Caps are on the pp to start the 3rd
-
Oh joy. A PeePee. :-|

We had more spirit and more fight two days ago on the second of a back to back than we have tonight.
This is a poor showing so far tonight.

hard to win after digging a two goal hole
-
And that'll do it.
3 days off and we'll see ya Saturday..
-
Saturday at 7pm. Those day games are a joke.
-
Carlson throws a fit when they didn't call icing at the end when the Avs player beats him to the puck because the Avs player hustled and Dylan just glided - classic Dylan!! The result was a faceoff in our zone and we had to put Lindy back in the net - totally killed the momentum.
I actually thought the Caps played pretty well overall, against a really, really good team.
I loved Malynstyn and his effort - remind me of Sheary, but more physical. Also thought NAK played a great game against his old team.
-
Just listened to the post-game with Gabby and they talked a good bit about Malynstyn and they were really high on him. My bet is that he becomes the next Nic Dowd as Dowd could very well be traded. They play a really similar game and at this point, Malynstyn is faster.

I know he is a fan favorite and everything, but lost amidst the criticisms of others is the fact that Wilson's offense has disappeared recently and he was relegated to the 4th line at the start of this game.
-
They all disappear where it really matters. Not sure what's happened to Wilson. They speculated Carbs wanted to make it tougher on the MacKinnon line. Not sure how many minutes they had, but it was probably more than the 2nd or 3rd line? Maybe more than any line?

The Caps did play fairly well, except for the first 5 minutes where they went down 2-0.

Ovechkin ended up with the top TOI among forwards, as he commonly does. Wilson ended up 2nd.
S
And by the way, Carlson had another 28 minute game last night. I realize people here are down on him, but year after year, coach after coach, Carlson is the guy who gets significantly more minutes on defense than any other player. Partially due to his PP time of course, but he is usually several minutes ahead of the next guy. And Carbery seems to be riding him especially hard recently. This at the same time he hasn't been shy about reducing minutes for other high-paid players when their play doesn't warrant it (cough, Kuznetsov, Oshie at the beginning of the year when he was struggling). If Carlson is so bad, the elephant in the room remains: Why aren't his minutes regulated more in line with his "actual contributions?"
-
OOPS - edit to previous post: My bad. TOI among forwards - Strome first, Wilson 2nd, Ovie 3rd.
-
I’ve noted before that my primary problem with Carlson is his contract. Good on him for getting it. I don’t see an $8M a year Dman in him, and he never was a norris candidate. He obviously brings something to this squad but too frequently the eye test says it’s not his prowess on D.
-
That's the sad thing. At 34 years old he's still the best overall D they have to offer.. You'd think one of the younger, faster guys could be a solid D that a coach trusts, but.. :-\
-
i dont think carbs is down on wilson or that his 4th line assignment was anything other than...
He realizes his team cant compete in scoring so he puts his best/fastest defensive forwards together in attempt to slow down the Avs top line.
I thought Malenstyn and AK and Willie and Dowd all had good games. Probably the most minutes any game for Malenstyn yet...be curious to know that.
Carlson must be playing well, cause im not calling him out every game all year long like I used to in the old days. My issue with him was he never had enough snarl...and then he got that contract which he has never been worth. His game has improved greatly over time...although hes slowed a bit the last couple years.
He does do a TON for this team and like...someone said...every single coach has relied on him more than probably any single other player on the ice in the entirety of the time he's been here. That's not just luck or coincidence, and its not about marketing like playing Ovi is.
