Why in the fuck are they gonna even bother with a playoff in the summer, then turnaround and start training camp after a 4no lay-off, then a multi round condensed tournament?

The MLB players piss me off a bit.
They want to play hald a season yet still get paid the same (or even pro-rated)
If you are playing with no fans - then there will not be as much revenue, so I don't get the math from them. Sounds like spoiled greed to me.
So....they prefer to not play at all and make nothing?
Meh....I haven't followed it really but what I hear does not impress me.
Of course...most of what I hear these days DOES NOT impress me. Very disappointed in the behavior of our nation from all sides...mostly due to what I think is lack of education and lack of respect for anything.(like about what our nation was founded on and what it stands basically any knowledge of the constitution.

I'm not %100 sure but I think the players stance on payroll is a solitary thing for the younger guys and the guys in the minors that can't really afford a pay cut, the MLB players had made an offer to cover some of the proposed pay cut the guys in the minors were going to get.
A vast majority of what the MLB makes is from tv, the broadcast rights and all the adverts that get displayed during the game. Most ball parks seat about 45-47,000, and the average tickets price of a game is $69, that's about $3.1M per game. I'd be surprised if that covers the expense of just having a game. There's electric, water(lots of toilet flushes), all the paper towels they go through in the restrooms, insurance, employee uniforms- and not the players either, payroll for everyone working at the park excluding the actual team, it costs extra to have all the cops there for traffic control, and about 100 other things. All that shit adds up quick. Hockey is even worse, they get half the attendance with triple the electric bill

I have lost interest at this point. I would rather have them just start up fresh next Sept/Oct. This 24 team playoff starting in the middle of the summer just does not excite me. Plus, whoever wins the Cup - it will never be viewed as legit.

yea, I agree. just call the season and start everything on time in September
the MLB needs to get going, and this season will just prove that I firmly believe the baseball season is far to long as is. it should be shortened to 150 games at the most

Worse yet, this will amount to a league-wide World Cup, that the NHL quit cause players where worn out by Dec.
They’d also have training camp a month away. Also, what will the roster numbers be? It’d make sense if they could rotate AHL/prospects in to give them a look & rest the NHLers more

And.... in MY season, the Caps are up 2-1 in the Stanley Cup Finals over Vegas. Vegas won game one by lulling the Caps (and EVERY hockey fan) to sleep with this BS long, drawn out fantasy on ice pregame show. I mean Jesus....play the fucking game already.
Caps took game two and IMO pretty well flat out dominated Vegas all game 3. I don't want to get me hope up, but the Caps look to be the WAY better team. They are dominating in nearly every aspect of the game, and the physical play is Awesome. Willy looks like he' going to flat out kill someone with a hit pretty soon. Ovi looks like he can finally taste the Cup and is playing possessed. Kuzy is like the best skater and play maker on the ice and fucking Eller...YES...ELLER looks like a damn 2nd line center. He has made a huge impact in nearly every game - filling in for Backy and actually making plays. He looks like a real 2c right now and about the best damn bargain 3C this team has ever seen. And Holtby is just fucking cool cucumber back there. Not overplaying, not scrambling...just good positioning and making it look easy. Although he did make one bonehead play and flat out handed Vegas their only goal on the night.
I'm not counting my chickens yet, but my hopes are definitely up. This team is firing on all cylinders. Hell even Smith Pelly and Stepho look good right now.

I heard the news last night, haven't bothered to look yet. I think it's stupid. In order to finish this season they must push back next season by what appears to be at least two months, so the 2020-21 season might not even start in 2020.

I guess you can't blame them for trying to salvage some revenue, but I fear they are really going to mess up the next season.
There is zero chance that they start these playoffs and everything runs smoothly. You are already seeing it happen in baseball. Players will start testing positive and will be sitting out games. It may start with just 2 or three, but then whole teams are going to shutdown and then how do they run playoffs -forfeits? They will have to stop the playoffs, and then there is that much doubt about starting the next season.
This one is so obvious....

I'd love to see Caps back on the ice, but I have heard a few personal accounts from friends that know young healthy people that got Covid-19 and died within days. Others got it and survived, but said it was the worse thing they ever got. Worse than any flu by far.
Some of us old farts should remain careful and young ones should not think themselves invincible.
We keep hearing conflicting information. Fucking dumb ass people in charge.
And why in hell are we playing at Scotiabank Arena for all three games? This entire restart is stupid.
