Wow, this is a strange one.
Matiss Kivienieks, a 24-year-old goalie in the Blue Jackets' system, was celebrating 4th of July yesterday in a hot tub when nearby fireworks started malfunctioning and threatened the site. Matiss jumped out of the hot tub with others and started running, slipped and fell and hit his head on concrete -- and it killed him.
RIP young man. Goes to show that tomorrow is promised to no one.

Kivlenieks didn’t die from hitting his head, still tragic though

I’ve got my fair share of experience with mortars, it never occurred to me that a chest hit is fatal. But I’ve always made sure mine were on a solid base and only one person close to them when being lit off. I’d love to know exactly how this happened, as a learning tool.
