So, I was wrong about:
Jenson - thought he was a rag-doll below average d-man at a costly salary. He still can get pushed around, but man has he been good and is skating like a maniac.
Charra - thought he was done and was a bad addition. He has been really good and steady, although I hate to see Ziggy have to sit.
Kuzy - thought he was going to explode with 30+ goals. I'm done with him.
I was right about:
Faceoffs - I begged for them to get a coach to address this and they did. Seems to be much better now.

They were saying what a great game Kuzy had last night.. I thought he looked rather lazy (as usual) to my eye. He scored a goal and I guess had a good recovery/back check once? But it must just be the way he skates. Doesn't look like he's "trying" or moving his legs much. I know he glides well, but even in the D zone, going after a loose puck or something, just looks like he doesn't even try to go strong to the puck. I still think he brings positives, but at his salary it's annoying.

If Kuzy would skate and play to his potential his salary would be a bargain. If he were the Kuzy of the Cup year playoffs....He would be well worth more than his salary. I think he does sometimes does get a bad rap because he doesn't appear to be working, but he just skates so fluidly it makes it look like he's not working. Definitely missing something somewhere though. Too bad. I don't put him in the Semin category though....Semin soured us on high talent low effort Russians. I think it hard to tell with his demeanor. I think Samsonov is kind of the same way. Kind of low key and sometimes looks like he's not working for the puck, but really..that is when he is playing well...letting it come to him instead of fighting it. NOt overplaying and scrambling.
It's different for a goalie...theys allowed to be low key and chill

The Kuzy comparison to Semin is becoming more on point. Remember however, that Semin had a few great years with us - which Kuzy has yet to have. I'd love to see what would happen with Kuzy if he was coached by a guy like Tortorello - although I'm pretty sure he would crumble instead of rise to the challenge.

So on Sprong again, I think he is only 24 and I don't remember how we got him and how long we have him under contract. I'm really liking him for one reason - he likes to shoot. The other night when he had a 2 on 1 with Ovi and he shot and scored - that is what we need more of. We need guys that want to score more than being selfless and making the pass because they want to be liked in the lockerroom.

You forgot to mention that we are playing against the hottest team in the league right now. And probably the best best defensive team. Goals could be hard to come by.

Another tough break for Buffalo is the division they are in. I think the east is the best division this season. 5 or 6 of these teams should be playoff teams and probably would be if the divisions weren't changed.
It seems the other divisions only have 2 or 3 good team. I also think some teams are over achieving because of an easy schedule.

Both are very skilled players. Semin was a way better goal scorer. He hadca great shot and a quicknrelease. Kuzy us a better passer even though Semin was decent. Both were total flakes and made some very poor decisions. Both sucked defensively. Semin definitely better on the PP. Semin also a little more consistent than Kuzy. And occasionally you would see Semin put in some effort. A goal he scored while he was with Carolina comes to mind. Similar to Ovi's goal against the Coyotes. Never see an effort like that from Kuzy.

Oak island is an island, and a tv show. You seriously don't know the story of the money pit? I knew that story long before the tv show. It's becoming very interesting as they keep finding things that predate Columbus, even though he never set foot on North America

Just finished watching the replay. That was an awesome game to watch. Caps played a full 60 minutes. Who knew they could? Sammy was incredible early on and saved our bacon. Ovi with two milestones. Vrana with a sweet pass to Backstrom. Panicked a little in the 3rd waiting for the collapse that never came. Let’s Go Caps!

Ever been to Nova Scotia? I have. Went as a “very” [size=78%]young adult. Very pretty and the bluest water I ever saw. Went with the wrong girl though (but she was my wife at the time) Made the trip not so fun. Got attacked by some nesting turns (I think). Met some cool Canadians including a transplant from North Carolina[/size]
Also nearly starved to death looking for a place to eat. Not a lot on the Cabot trail, but if you do your diligence and go prepared it is very beautiful. Saw me some whale (my first), moose and very nearly hit a wolf with a rental car in the early morning

I cooked that tuna Saturday. Grilled on the grill. Did it pretty good. Did not over cook it. Seasoned it 3 different ways. Cajun, lemon pepper, garlic. Pretty good. Fed 6 of us (3 of which are active teenage boys) . It was a damn big steak. I was a little worried about cooking it in one piece
And I asked again and it was 550lbs (not 650) 102” long. Took them 3 hours to bring it in. Outer Banks, NC

Well, in reality he lost it on a freak deflection off a defenseman's stick - nothing Samsonov could do about that. That can happen any time, regardless of the manpower situation. That's why I don't get excited about goalie shutouts/non-shutouts. Hockey is a game of a thousand little subtle, often unintentional incidents. The vast majority don't affect the game's scoring, but most games there is at least one where the puck just happens to "go wrong in a good way/bad way" and scoring results. In reality, Samsonov "deserved" a shutout last night -- he made some great saves, and was solid all night. But .....
Well, so much for Tom Wilson being the indispensable heart and soul of the team. This seems to happen with the Caps all the time. Their actual performance versus what "seems predictable" is often so random. When he returns, they'll probably say "well, our energy bunny is back", relax, and go on a losing streak. I wonder to what extent the current winning streak is the team saying "we have to buckle up our chinstraps and suck it up while Tom is gone"?
