Mantha/Eller/Hathaway...
Hathaway hustles his butt of, but this line does not impress me. (but then....Mojo/Backstrom/Oshie doesn't either, but they did get a sweet goal G1)
Sheary has been a gem all year and has impressed me with his play no matter where they put him....but he aint Tom Wilson on the top line. (sounds like I'm raggin on Sheary, but not my intent - he has been great all year)

I really get the feeling the Panthers come and and smoke us in this one.
Problem is their GT is so good and ours are so...so. We were pretty effective at somewhat shutting down their "O" last game, I just don't see us scoring three a night vs Unkle Bob
But hey....had similar thoughts last game.

Going to be tough without Willy. Wish we had Protas or somebody sizeable to fill in instead of McMichael.
Looks like Leason is in for Willy. I kinda liked him. He has decent size and I thought played fairly well for us. I am a bit surprised that they didn't go with more speed with either AJF or McMichael.

I think McMichael has good long term potential, but I don’t think he’s ready for hard hitting physical playoff style hockey.

Guess two wins was a lot to ask for but you can't let in that 3rd goal. That was utterly terrible goaltending and it took all the wind out of their sails. Carlson was also hilarious on the 2nd goal on his knees doing nothing whatever to stop the pass.

I don't know. We had like a 20-11 shot advantage at one point and were carrying play. You can''t let in 30% of the other teams's shots and expect to win. We got progressively worse in our own end and Vanacek can't stop anything mildly challenging tonight.

The worst part was they smoked us physically in the third. The hit on Mojo was devastating. They have a bunch of big bodies and even with Willy, they will be tough on us now that they know they can.
It's a funny game. I thought we totally outplayed them for the first 18 minutes.
I wish there was a stat that showed how many times a team that scores lets the other team score within a minute. If there is, I bet over the last 5 years that the Caps lead the league in that department.

That was ugly. We DID outplay them the first 18 or so minutes. This is why we will not succeed. Our GT is not even a question mark anymore - it's just bad.
Not all that was on VV, but you can't let in easy goals in the playoffs. You don't have to steal a win, but you should at least help rather than hinder the squad in front of you. You could see the wind go out of them. Part of it is we dominated for 18 minutes with little to show and then you just hand them two goals. Bobrovsky is excellent and tough to beat so you can't afford softies vs a good team.
I think we all kind of new this was pretty much what it looked like going in. We are just Cap fans so we have that stupid glimmer of hope...cause that's what we got.
I agree they should have put Fucale in (but is he even dressed?) I think you can only dress 2 GT correct? Hell, I'd start Sammy next game with Fucale as backup - or better yet start Fucale.
If Fucale is ready next year he gets the starting job - not sure WTF we are going to do for a GT next year.
And I hate matinees in the playoffs. Just not the same vibe. I'm guessing that's cause it's Derby day?
We need a miracle...and Willy, and Ovie to show up and...well....a MIRACLE.

They can only dress two goalies. If both goalies go down to injury, that’s where the arena provided emergency goalie comes in. Though that’s for regular season, not sure if it’s the same for the playoffs.
I’m not overly concerned at this point. The Caps came out of the Cats barn 1-1, a hell of a lot better than expected.
