What always amazed me were the goalies that played without a mask. When I started watching hockey there were still some goalies that didn't wear a mask.
Speaking of masks. I love the vintage goal masks better than the masks worn today.

I think Oshie is the only player on our team not afraid to attempt a backhander. We pass up many scoring attempts due to being on the backhand. Fling that shit top shelf!!

Damn right! Granted, that was wooden sticks with little to no curves, but still.
I think Sawchiuck was the first goalie to wear a mask, but after Howe & Richard. many followed suit 🤣

Maintained a .06 GPG though out his carrer, misssed one season w/a strike, & now two partial seasons with Covid, He should be about at if not over 800 now if these where full seasons

Maintained a .06 GPG though out his carrer, misssed one season w/a strike, & now two partial seasons with Covid, He should be about at if not over 800 now if these where full seasons
There was also a shortened season due to anther strike. Including the 2 strike seasons and Covid seasons he has lost around 150 games.

Jaques Plante has always been given credit as the first NHL goalie to wear a mask back in 1959. A little before my time so I don't know how truthful that is.
