The Nata got rained out yesterday, but this will be crazy season.  High expectations, major contracts expiring,  a new manager, a recent history of playoff failures (sound familiar?), with a team that could be the best Nats team ever (https://www.washingtonpost.com/sports/nationals/enjoy-the-ride-because-these-nationals-may-be-as-good-as-theyre-going-to-get/2018/03/26/d0dcb640-2dda-11e8-8688-e053ba58f1e4_story.html?utm_term=.c59e6bb33e3f).

This will certainly get interesting. . .

For the Os, it will be another odd season, but in yesterday’s opener, after blowing a 2-0 lead in 9th, Jones cleaned up The Yards . . .

A sidenote, Washingtons previous MLB team The Senators, moved to Minnesota and became the Twins . . .

with the Yanks signing Stanton I don't think they have the money left for Harper. Harp has said he loves trolling the press which is where the rumor of him signing in NYC came from. Harper has also said he admires guys like Cal that played their entire career with one team. It will be interesting to see where he signs after this season

The best best team this franchise had was in 94 when they were the Expos. The Expos brought in a lot of talent over the years but  couldn't afford to pay to keep their stars or they probably would have won several World series. My favorite Expo was Andre Dawson. Best all round player of his time.

Damn right!  Thats been a long standing conversation about how the strike and income destroyed what may have been a dynasty for the Expos.  Heres a cool article I found on it  (http://bleacherreport.com/articles/247890-what-might-have-been-remembering-the-1994-montreal-expos)

From the late 80s alone they had Randy Johnson, Pedro Martinez, Larry Walker, John Wettland and Vald Gurrero, and a SLEW of All Stars. . .its sickening

Yesterday's win gives Davey his first career big league win

it really blows my mind that MLB shut down their boards, which were still up for most of spring training. They had a much higher participation rate than the NHL run boards.

the Nats bats showed up today, career day for Eaton-5 hits & 3 RBIs, and Goodwin with a grand salami !!! But not too impressed with the bullpen, gave up 2 in the 8th and 2 in the 9th. Nats win 13-7.

Gio starts tomorrow at 4:10

I no longer follow baseball since the steroid scandal. When I did this was the franchise I followed. Of course they were the Expos at the time. I followed the Bluejays as well. At least they won a couple championships.
I'll never forget when the Jays played in Atlanta and they had the Canadian flag upside down.

Impressive first series by Eaton! The bullpen looked like shit yet again, eek out a win 6-5 with HRs by Rendon, Harper, Eaton and Harper. 16th career multi HR game by Harper!

couple things bout that, technically that's a reproduction of Old Glory, what's left of the original is in the smithsonian. Lots of bits were cut off as souvenirs. Did anyone else notice the number of stripes matched the number of stars?? That's how it was done at first. But it didn't take them long to finger out that system wouldn't work long term, so we now have just the 13 stripes.

after starting 4-0 the Nats have fallen back to mediocre ball, but it's a long season. To damn long, season should be a month shorter, then we wouldn't have so many games snowed out from all the AGW

after starting 4-0, Nats are now 6-8 and 6 games back from 1st. But with only 148 games to go I think they've got time to make it up

I haven't watched much baseball since my grandfather used to take me to Phillies games.
I just noticed the Nats @ Giants game just started at around noon local time in San Francisco.  It appears nearly half the seats are empty, which is surprising to me they have that many in attendance. Are there that many people taking off work or people on welfare that can afford to go to games?

Is it usual for an MLB game to start in the middle of a work day on a non-holiday?

yea, when one or both teams have a long travel day they play early, despite the day of week

So Max had his typical outing today. Only 15 K's, with 12 consecutive outs. He only went 6 1/3, so he was directly responsable for 12 of the 19 outs, plus he had one double play behind him. He gets a no decision though because the bullpen blew the lead. But Pilly's bullpen returned the favor in the 9th, including walking in the tying run. Nats win 4-3, scoring 3 in the 9th.

Every team in the NL east played today, only one of them won. Nats are now 2.0 games back.

so last night Max backs up his 15 K game with an 11 K game. Makes it his 70th career double digit SO game, ties him with Seaver at 10th on the all time list, and he drove in the go ahead run. Something tells me the tie won't last long. The more I watch Max play the more I'm amazed Detriot traded him.

And a lot of Tigers are too, but theres a two word answer: Scott Boris.

At the time of the trade, the salary was tight and the prospects were few. . . & JV was one of the best pitchers of all time (still is but that’s another story) . . .

Throw in that the Tigers got Max from Arizona on a trade, and sent him down to Toledo (AAA) after that, and JV was a #1 (or high pick) there was no question if they couldn’t keep both, Max would be th one to go, and that cocksucker Boris knew that, and at the time, got more than Max was worth.

Now, that salary is pretty good . . . guess it makes up for the Stausberg mess, where he got a record contract for a pitcher that most scouts knew would have arm trouble based on his windup and motion before the draft

Os trade Manny to LA for 5 (http://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/24133382/baltimore-orioles-trade-manny-machado-los-angeles-dodgers-5-prospects) prospects!

It it sucks to see him go, but damn we got A LOT for him!

Sucks for The Nats though, cause the NL got a lot more interesting.

I was never a Trammell fan but he was an excellent all-round player. I dont recall any weakweaknesses in his game. He deserves to be in the HOF.

Looks like Harper is staying with the Nata  (https://www.mlb.com/news/dodgers-reportedly-claim-bryce-harper/c-291215548)for now . . . he’s gonna be MAJOR $$, particularly with that cunt Boris as his agent.

Which is why they shipped Murphy off  (https://www.mlb.com/news/dodgers-reportedly-claim-bryce-harper/c-291215548)

As more and more teams are following the “money ball”/build from within philosophy, the Nats philosophy of bending over and grabbing their ankles for Boris is starting to catch up with them.

The only consistent from Harper over the years is he has said several times he loves trolling the media and he greatly admires players like Cal that played their entire career on one team. I think he intends on staying in DC, especially after the Yankees over paid for Giancarlo.

It was nice to see them make the comeback last night against Pilly, the mood in the dugout did appear a bit solemn without Murphy

There are a couple job openings at Camden Yards. But, no way in hell I’d work for Angelos and no way in hell I’d live in Maryland
