At least the locals get to call round 1. The league really needs to let the locals cover the first three rounds, at a minimum.

Good to know! I may have to stretch the old hdmi cord across the room and stream that sucker! :uh-huh:

Just watched some of the Cap All Access episodes on YouTube for last years series against the Pens and Tampa. Man, that gets you fired up. It also makes you realize how important one or two key plays are. In the Pens series, Nisky saved a goal and scored one and that was huge. In the Tampa series Burky scored a couple beauties at the end.
I think Burky is going to shine in these playoffs. Kuzy will ramp it up and just take over some games. Vrana will emerge as a real star. Finally, Ovi will crush it!!!!
-
We have another rookie coach. Don't hold your breath. :( lSorry chaps. Don't expect too much. :'(

Hey Everybody, it’s Rush.
There is a chance that I won’t be able to attend playoff game 1, at home, this Thursday!
I don’t normally offer tickets here, but this issue just came up for me.
Anyway, if I can’t make it, AND if I’m familiar with you, here on the board, then I’ll let them go at $20 over my cost per ticket. My cost is $129/ea. and I have 2 tickets total. So they are $149/ea. They are selling right now anywhere from $195-275/ea, on the websites! So it’s a good deal, to be sure!
Not interested in selling to anyone who is NOT going themselves! In other words, no vendors or re-sellers please! The reason is that I have great respect, and a good relationship, with my seat neighbors, and I care about who sits in my seats!
They’re awesome seats in sec. 105, row W, behind the goal, on the end that we shoot twice!
Not looking to solicit other games, this is just due to some unforeseen circumstances, for this game only!
If interested, just reply to this post, and we can figure arrangements.
Thanks folks!

Blue Jackets had a rough start 0-3, but they fought hard and took control of the Bolts beating them 4-3 in Amalie Arena. They sure look tough.

Now let's pause for a moment. If this was the Caps having blown a lead like that to a WC team in their own building, what would the folks here be saying? Heck, there would be folks already lamenting the inevitable sweep. (At least, there would have been before last year.)
It happens to EVERYONE.
-
Great hockey tonight. Islanders playing a tough physical game against the Hens. Isles just took the lead 3-2 with 7min left in regulation. God damn Penguins are putting on another diving showcase.

For the record, you will not find one post here from me during last years playoff run where I doubted the Caps. In fact, you'll find nothing from me like that since at least the All-Star break last year.
-
Just watched the lamest fucking penalty call on the isles in the Hens game. Tie game with 10 min to play. Awful call. Two guys stumble and fall then slide to the boards and the ficking ref calls a boarding call on Islander. The fucking islander actually fell first. Ref was on opposite side of net and called it cause a Hen fell down
Disgusting display of Hencocksuck by the ref
Haha isles killed it then scored
Woot. Isles 3-2 with about 6 min left
-
What time did the Tampa game start?
-
FFS. Hens scored with goalie pulled
Ffffffffffuuuuuucckkkkkkkk

I saw that. Same old crap by the cocksucking refs.
Clutterbuck had EVERY opportunity to stop the game tying goal by Schultz, but he totally pussed out and actually pulled away from the puck so as not to be hit by it. Leads me to think the NYI haven't got the mind set to win a cup.
-
What time did the Tampa game start?
It started at 7pm, about 30 minutes before Hens/Isles game making it easy to watch both because of staggered intermissions.
-
Isles hit a post on a 2 on 1 with 2 seconds left
That's the game I think.
And Barry Trotz actually yelled at the refs on that horrendous call earlier. Mad as I have ever seen him
And the Nats are besting Philly 15-0
-
God! It is painful to listen to the NBC goons summarize the Hens/Isles game to this point. They are as usual gushing about the Penguins comeback having oralgasm after oralgasm over it.
-
And the Nats are besting Philly 15-0
That is fucking AWESOME!!!!! LMAO!!! :snicker: :lmao:
-
Nats pitcher Rosenthal is throwing 97-100mph. Just hit 101.
I never heard of him. Looks like jayson wyrth with the hair and beard.
Can't throw strikes though. Walked two in the ninth and K'd 1
Shutout in jeopardy. Two on, one out.
Consistently throw 97+
Walked another. Bases loaded, 1 out
-
Fucking ump not helping. Guy is painting the corners at 97 but getting no calls
-
Philthy scored...defensive swing for a groundout but guy scored from third
Pop fly for last out
Nats win 15-1
-
ISLANDERS!!!!!!!
-
Great finish to the Pens/Isles gamer. Bailey patient as hell for the GWG that was tipped in by Bailey. Fun to see the Hens lose.
-
Sweet goal. Wtf are they looking at?
Offsides my ass
-
When the guy hit the post I screamed like it was a Caps game ;D
Nice follow up by D.
Love seeing the fucking NHL princess divers get beat. I would not hate them so much if they just played straight up and quit all the whining and diving bullshit
-
I remember bein at a Caps vs Isles playoff game in the 80's at the old Cap Center. Sat about 4 rows from the top and had the loudest freaking female isles fan directly behind us yelling ISLANDERS!!!!! in her leather lungs loudmouth NY accent the whole freaking game
Remember Billy Smith was the isles goalie and we went down to where players came off ice at intermission and my buddy yelled "Hey Billy" as he was coming off ice. Billy stopped and looked up with pure psychotic hatred on his face. Thought he was gonna climb into the stands. We still recall and laugh about that.
I'm fired up for tomorrow already. Clock is going to be stagnant tomorrow.

So I will be using my own tickets.
Thanks anyway, folks!
Looks like some good news from tonight’s games!!

WHOOO HOOO CAVS NATIONAL CHAMPS!!!
Deed I need to by Herman Moore and Chris Long a shot in celebration!
Ok, so I’ve been “happy” a day or so. . .
Normally I hate basketball, but. . . it’s an awesome, and socially acceptable, multiday party when a home team wins!!!

Willie can , more than likely, all but single handily win this series. After Ferland, they have no answer for his muscle, and Ferlamd is outta Willies league.

Ross and Rosenthal missed all of last season recovering from Tommy Johns. Rosenthal was a pretty good pitcher for St Louis before the injury, last night was the first out he's thrown this season and it's his his 4th or 5th appearance. He needs to get his confidence back. That was two great games in a row from the Nats against Pilly. Tuesday night they came back from 6-1 to win it 10-6 in overtime

Hopefully they have a much better season this year, and Davis gets a hit soon
Not sure about the overall record, but I’ll bet they’ll put it together before the years out.
Once some one throws Davis a “curveball that doesn’t curve”, or gets cocky and challenges him with a heater down the middle, he’ll park the sunbitch on Eutaw and be fine (for a while)
-
Wow! Jackets crushing the Bolts 3-0 with 3 minutes to go in the 2nd period. AGAIN!
-
Gee haven’t we seen Columbus in the 1st round go into the favorite team’s home rink and win the first two games before. How did that turn out, it is hard to believe that history would repeat itself but I wouldn’t write Tampa Bay off.
-
yea, but Columbus has something to prove by winning their first ever playoff series. That and how physical they are is why I didn't want the Caps to play them first.
and Tampa has that Presidents Trophy curse
-
5-1. Tampa looks shell shocked
-

It's awesome! Hens are in a battle too. 1-1, but they are being outplayed by NYI IMO.
As I was saying the other day. If the Bolts and Flames lose we have home ice the rest of the playoffs. Maybe I'm looking ahead too far, but why the heck not!
-

CNBC or 819 for me.
ETA
Only a few minutes left and Bolts just lost their cool. At least one sent to showers and likely a PP for the Jackets.
-
Rendon is on fire so far this year
-
Kucherov might get suspended for that last boarding call.
ETA
TBL Kucherov got 2min tripping + 5 min roughing and a game misconduct.
CBJ Anderson 2 min for roughing and a game misconduct
Getting nasty

Mine is correct. It must be your provider.
-
I like the 30 min offset games. It makes it easy to watch most of two simultaneous games with the staggered intermissions.
-
Hens/Isles game is tied 1-1 and Isles are ahead in series yet the NBC goons are gushing for the Hens . . . as usual. Speaking as if the Hens GOT THIS.
-

it's Comcast, need I say more
-
Nats are playing the first of 3 against Pitt tonight, maybe both of them could lose on the same night
-

Weird. I have COmcast and my guide was spot on. I do not have the new system though. X1 I think they call it.
-
Hens appear sloppy and slow as compared to their past efforts.
-
We're fortunate we didn't draw CBJ in round 1. They look legit bad ass tonight..
Haven't watched any of the Pens/Isles but Barry has his boys up 3-1 with 8 minutes to go..
-
damnit, Nats and Pirates going to extra minutes
-
holy chit, Isls scored 2
-
so how many islanders fans now have worthless bottles of water from when they melted the ice at Nassau "for the final time" two years ago

LOL. Crowd CHANTING LOUDLY "CROSBY SUCKS" after the 3-1 win over Shittsburgh.

Malkin should get fined for swinging his stick at another players head
-
there is going to be blood on the ice in the Knights Sharks series
-
wow, 6 goals in the 1st period and it being a tied game has got to be a playoff record
-
That was sick! 3 in row at start of period by Vegas and 3 in a row in the last few minutes by San Jose. Wild period.
-
after all that I bet this game ends 4-3
-
Effectively 2 free goals there for Vegas on that Goalie interference call/no goal call. There's your 4-3 so far.
-
off by one, but there was blood on the ice after the final whistle
-
after all that I bet this game ends 4-3
5-3 - You were close. Good games tonight.

Penishead seems infatuated with back door action this morning

I am enjoying Crosby being so far impotent in the playoffs. Islanders look good.
-
Nats just tied up the Pirates at 3 in the 3rd. Hopefully both of those teams will lose today
-

Oh yes, the Nats game was far more important than the Caps game yesterday. I am glad 106.7 made the right choice for coverage.

if the Islanders sweep, the Caps can't go any more than 5 games
-
if the Islanders sweep, the Caps can't go any more than 5 games
I was just thinking the same. I can't believe how the Penguins appeared so heartless. They did not show much emotion or effort the entire game IMO.

Yeah,Trotz has been doing a phenomenal job with Islanders this year
-

they did for the first five minutes, after the Isls scored the two quick goals they kind of gave up, the Hens didn't even start playing dirty like they normally do when losing
-
Saw th Bruin's game lat night. WHo knew that the Leafs could be so dirty?
Also, caught the last period of the collapse of the Hens this pm. :snicker: They didn't look as if they could be bothered. Not even enough to do their usual diving.
-
Looks like the curse o the President's trophy is striking early this year??? :snicker: Lightning down 2 - 0 after 2 periods and down 2 games.
Playoffs interesting this year, for sure.

Are they going to battle like Champions, or go to Klub Kettler and ease off. Play "safe" ??? NOT!!!!!! Which coach are they goig to refer to?
BB's run and gun,
Hunter's "defend the fort"?
-
Shiny new Knights going ot of their way to make a name for themselves.
Good for them!

dOOOOOOHHHH NHL not gonna be happy. :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Underperforming TB and Pens is a big surprise, they made a hole for themselves and will be hard to get out.

Tampa hasn't had anything to play for the previous month leading up to the playoffs. Hungry teams always do better in n the first round.
I can't explain the Pens other than maybe Barry is still getting that new coach boost.

I think NYI is the better team, playing smarter and harder. Hens have the “stars” sure, but that doesn’t look like it’s gonna be enough.
But, NYI only got 8PIM last game, so you know that’ll go up in Game 4.
-
That faggot Hornquist just tried to fight the NYI goalie. The dirtiest player in the league, with 0 career fights goes after a goalie . . . What a piece of shot.
There ain’t no place for such spineless Eurotrash slime in a mans league, if it is woman rules . . . Some one needs to take him out for good.

Jesus, CBJ looks insane!!!

CBJ Sweep!!!!
 8-0
-
at least the Bolts have a banner they get to raise in the fall

nice to see the Hens playing their frustration out,
I also noticed Cindy barely reacted to getting nutted on that faceoff 8)
-
this sucks, now I gotta root for the Hens to take it 5 games
-
at least the Bolts have a banner they get to raise in the fall
It doesn't feel as good as a Stanley Cup.

Lots of the "expert" talking heads looking pretty stuuupid right now.

Jesus, CBJ looks insane!!!
They surely frickin’ DO!!
Scary frickin insane!! Excellent physical hockey, that had an answer for EVERYTHING Tampa threw at them!
If Cooper is truly a good coach, then he ought to really be giving some heavy props to the Jackets, in the postgame comments.
Tampa may have sat on their laurels in the first two home games, but games three and four, they were in HOT WATER, and knew it!
I believe Tampa came out in 3 and 4, really trying and believing they could start gaining some momentum. THEY TRIED......real hard, IMHO!! Columbus just kept TAKING OVER the flow of the game, despite Tampa’s concerted efforts!!
Especially in games 3, and 4, it wasn’t a case of Tampa not playing so well, but rather Columbus NOT PERMITTING it to happen!! Tampa just got BEAT!!
Then in the 3rd period of game 4, in Columbus, we witnessed the Blue Jackets simply, and completely, break the will of every Tampa player on the bench!
It was like......🎵”Wake up, little Susie, Wake up”🎵. LOL 😂
(Almost felt a bit of sympathy for the Bolts at the end)....THEN I DIDNT!!!
It will, however, be very difficult for Columbus to maintain that level of intensity throughout their playoff run. But if they can find a way to re-tap into that well, just enough, then the sky’s the limit for them!!

62 wins doesn’t do a helluva lot good for confidence. It does a LOT, but notin good!
On the other hand, (and fans of woman’s-rules hockey will hate this), CBJ is in general a bigger, stronger, and more physical team, Hell, TBL doesn’t have a forward over 6’1 and their biggest Dman arent probe to laying people out. Combined with intensity, coaching, and it’s almost impossible for a smalller softer team to beat. We saw that twicet yesterday.
-
Nobody and I mean nobody wants CBJ right now.. They look hard!! From the goalie on out..
* Have they announced game 5 start time??

Nobody and I mean nobody wants CBJ right now.. They look hard!! From the goalie on out..
Well the good news is the Caps don't have to play Columbus next IF the Caps manage to show up again and actually play the Canes. (Not counting any chickens here)
I'd much rather play the Isles (than Columbus)... and think we match up pretty good against them EXCEPT for the coaching factor. It won't help our chances how well Trotz knows us.
I'm not dissing on the Isles, but I'd choose them to play over ANY team left in the East.
Oh yeah and on the Hens getting swept....HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH.......AHHHHHHHHH HAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH
and Cindy Crybaby with 0 goals and 1 assist.....HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHA. Ahhhhhhh AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHA
Love it, Love it, Love it.
Columbus and Boston would be good to watch. Of course, so would Caps v Isles ;)
GO CAPS!
-
Was incredibly torn during game 4 of the Isles - Pens. Wanted that series to go 6 or 7 to wear them out if we get past the Canes, but also wanted to see the Pens get embarassingly swept.
In the end, watching the Pens lose, on home ice, in round one, and heading to the golf course in April was a beautiful thing.
-
I'm gonna take a wild guess and expect Trotz to be a shoe-in for the Jack Adams.
Craig Berube would be hard to pass on as well IMO
-
Nobody and I mean nobody wants CBJ right now.. They look hard!! From the goalie on out..

Agreed!
However, they will be at of the negative effect of a sweep: the long wait til the next round. By no means is it certain, but we’ve all seen teams that get done early, cool off.
Otherwise, Bs and CBJ would be FUN!!

Cherry sticks up for Ovie, bashes Kadti and The Code in The Playoffs

Was incredibly torn during game 4 of the Isles - Pens. Wanted that series to go 6 or 7 to wear them out if we get past the Canes, but also wanted to see the Pens get embarassingly swept.
In the end, watching the Pens lose, on home ice, in round one, and heading to the golf course in April was a beautiful thing.
Sometimes a big break is bad, too. Also Caps didn't find own stride, yet. So may be all turn out for better, although nothing is guaranteed.

Who cares about this clown?

just announced, Caps game 5 is at 8pm...
is it just me or does the NHL do everything in their power to find a way to screw with the Caps?
NBC wants this game at their convenient time. I don't think it is advantageous for any of the teams.

some one still does or he wouldn't still have a show, but I don't know anyone south of the border that likes him. I think that shirt collar is what holds his head up straight

It's Canadian thing, just a corky show.

Clown? Cherry’s awesome! Except for him liking Cindy. .

Well hockey ain’t that big in Mexico 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Bruins nearly lost it towards the end of that game. Luckily they hung on.
I wonder when the Rat decided to stop being such a douchebag and learn to play hockey instead?

I think what divides people is his "Americanism". He is far more Merican in his demeanor and delivery, than Canadian. Very Marmite. You either love him or hate him. Mostly I think he's a complete and utter joke, but every once in a while he does actually say something sensible, or meaningfull. Mostly he'comes across as an over=bearing, egotistical, :clown:

I'm going to expand on that in a creative and imaginative way - I hope.
I'm channelling Agatha Chrisie's "Miss Marple". He reminds me of someone in our village... (The "village" being England, you understand) :P
We had a horse racing pundit/bookie called ... John something... For the life of me I can't remember his last name? He used to dress in tweeds and a deerstalker and was incredibly loud. Us English would poke a little fun at him, but generally thought of him as harmless, but a little eccentric.
I casually caught a show called "wife swap" one evening. He turned out to be the most bigoted, ignorant, arrogant, self delusional C-word ever.
That's who/what Don Cherry reminds me of.
For the record: Not a fan.

My link collapsed. My computer is telling me to go to bed....
Sorry Lily, don’t really understand the response “never felt a thing”. (Most likely due to my aging brain)! LOL!
I was just giving you some props that your post made me laugh!
George Carlin is considered to be one of the top 5 American comedians of all time! He was thought provoking, and highly intelligent, with a uniquely unrivaled, cynical perspective on life. A true comedy genius!
Don’t know if he ever performed in the UK or not. Definitely worth a listen, but you may want to take your time with it, as his performances span from the early 1960’s, all they way through to after 2005, even, when his health started deteriorating. He died in ‘08 or ‘09, I believe.

I always liked Jay Leno on NBC, funny and kind. In general do not like any comedians.

Hey Raven.
Was gettin ready to hit the hay, watchin Grubauer and the Avalanche playoff game wind down.
I like and respect Jay Leno a lot. You said it well, “funny and kind”. A gentleman, IMO!
Anyway, what prompted my response was you’re general statement of not liking any comedians!
You’d have to admit it’s a comment that would draw some attention.
So I’m curious as to what makes you feel that way, if it’s not too personal of a question?
(Avalanche just tied the Flames 2-2, and now they also get a PP with 2 mins left)!

Nah, he’s an obnoxious goofball an can get annoying sure, But the man KNOWS WHAT HE’S TALKING ABOUT!! Not to me mention hates the new rules, cheap shot artists and “do gooders”. While loving The Code, intensity, anc playing the right way.
I bet playing on his team would of been nuts!

I like Jay Leno’s Garage better! Even if it cause jealous rage at times 🤣

Part of me doubts that TR has the brains to counter Carolina's strategy from last game. And even if we do come out of Round 1 alive, I think I'm heavily favoring Trotz and the Isles over chucklehead and the Caps.

Yep, going with the “Line Template B” won’t be enough. At least he is probably gonna sit Djoos, but how Jaskind, Boyd or DSP (isn’t called up) aren’t in is nuts, (oh yeah, they’re in Line Template D).
Bura and Connelly are 100ft players who are sub-average in every other aspect of the game. The only thing they do is provide offense, and we where not only shout-out,held to a record low shot total, and gave up 5 goals. They are only in for one thing and they can’t even do that!
On top of that, we hit out hit, out worked and out muscled by one of the smaller teams in the league without there toughest player in the line up, and of the two that can answer that, one is in the press-box and the other is in Hershey.
Add to that, Reidon had no answer for the plan Brind’amore came up with. This could end up being a very tough series.

I am much more interested in the all the East....too bad MY team in the east only has a couple games left to play (some biches)....UNLESS THEY WAKE THE F UP AND PLAY LIKE WE KNOW THEY CAN!!!!
Go Caps

Bura only showed up before the trade deadline long enough to convince GMBM to keep him around and only played "well enough" for a limited time. I wanted Bura gone a long time ago. I knew he was going to find a spark only to let it die off again eventually. If the guy only cost $1 million or less I'd say fuck it doesn't hurt to keep him as a depth guy, but he's getting paid more than he should. His contract is looking like Brooks Laich's or Martin Erat's
And yeah we're out worked and out coached. I wish we had gotten rid of Total Retard (TR) the moment Coach Q was made available. We spend so much on top notch players but cheap out on the coaching staff...
Seems like one Cup was enough for Ted and the Caps. Don't get me wrong, I'm happy as hell about that Cup and that's something that will never get taken away from us. But fuck I want some more. Our "window" to win Cups again won't open until Total Retard is fired

Just Absolutely stunning!
And now Is the question- what was the real reason for TB,Calgary to play well whole regular season, win it at the end of the day and then be eventually eliminated so easily by 8 teams..
To me, it shows that any team in league starts playing differently once the playoffs begin and the overall results could be unpredictable. It’s good for league, however I don’t like it as many teams just start showing their real potential in playoffs.

There definitely is "regular season hockey" and "playoff hockey."
Under these circumstances, normally I'd say "wow the playoffs are wide open and the Caps could win with some of their biggest threats out of the way." But nope. Caps will more than likely fall to Carolina, and even if they make it past this round, Isles and CBJ stand in their way as "playing the right way / playing with heart and soul."

I’m not that familiar with Colorado, but in the East, the primary factors where strength/conditioning coaching/style and “confidence”.
TBL had no forwards over 6’1”, and with the exception of Corbon and the guy Willie KOd, next to no physicality on D. Trots was able to continually send out bigger, stronger, players, to out hit, hustle, gut, and work them which wore them down.
TBL also won 62 games. We have seen the Caps tear through the regular season and over look the eight seed. This level of success tends to, not always, lead to a large amount if reluctantly to change what they’ve been doing, and the willingness/ability to do it. This reluctantly makes them predictable which becomes an advantage to the other team, as Torts did.
As zero said: playoffs vs regular season. In this case, regular season gave CBJ a huge advantage

It seems like adversity, pressure/expectations, and having something to play for are real factors. We've seen the Caps steamroll through the regular season but not have to deal with losing streaks, injuries, fighting tooth and nail for a playoff spot, etc. They get bored and lazy down the stretch when other teams are trying to ramp up for the playoffs. TB got through the entire season thinking they could just out-talent everyone else, but they weren't able to out-work even a "lowly" team.
And I agree playoffs are also where you see coaching come into play much more. The importance of a single playoff game in a best of 7 series is way higher than a single game in an 82 game season. You have more time to prepare, with no back to backs, etc. Plus you know you're locked into your opponent for at least 4 games, whereas during the regular season you might have a few games in quick succession and one team is kinda weak so maybe you don't spend as much time on the prep for them and focus on a bigger target, who knows.
Either way, there's a reason why we finally won a Cup when we decided to give a highly experienced NHL coach a shot at the job, rather than the strategy of hiring some no name AHL coach / rookie coach / former player. You need talent, don't get me wrong, but we've seen last year with VGK and this year with NYI that a bunch of misfit toys can be coached into a formidable team.
It still confuses me why we weren't willing to pay up a bit for Trotz (despite his issues last season before the big win). And we weren't willing to get a REAL coach in either. Is it really money? Don't tell me it's money when the team is dropping $12 million on John Carlson. That's like Connor McDavid money. Don't get me wrong, there's a ton of Dmen out there way worse than Carlson, so I'm pretty happy we have him despite how infuriating he can be, but goddamn that's a high price to pay for someone who isn't a Top 5 and maybe not even a Top 10 Dman in the NHL. He just picks up points because occasionally he completes a decent non retarded pass to Ovi on the PP

The thing about VGK and NYI is, much like you said about Carlson, they don’t lack “talent” per-say, they don’t have “stars” and the contracts that come with “stars”.
NYIs highest paid (Baychuck) is 6mil and they have almost 10m in Cap Space.
VGK kept enough cap space to get Stone, Stansny, and Packority, names but not superstars. to under 10mil yet tradable contracts.
All the while, hardly anyone can look at either roster and find a player they wouldn’t want on their team. These teams aren’t misfits, these teams are loaded with good players with great contracts.

Good point, moreover all of those teams as you mentioned above have great internal management staff ,as a result VGK second year in a row has great chance to win a Cup and NYI thanks to Caps with Trotz is showing unbelievable results therefore it’s all about management skills.

That's insane that NYI has $10 million in space...talk about good management/coaching. If only we had a coach who had experience coaching above mites level hockey prior to coaching the Caps...

TB had so many deep playoffs tuns in the last five years. This is one a rare year when they were eliminated in the first round. It is decently one of the top playoff team in the East. They were competing with Pens when lost Stamkos. I'm not sure what happened to them this year, but something got broken, may be more psychologically.

That’s mostly due to Taveres, LL was more than likely ok with the cap space than Taveres.

Psychological it would be over-confidence and being intimated . What happened was not many system changes, the new GM not correcting how the Caps beat them, (playing more physical then they could), and CBJ watching what The Caps did to beat therm.
Bottom line is they where just to small.

I think the main factor was that TB didn’t expect such performance and urgency from CBJ based on regular season matchups and once TB realized that they must to change something in order to win at least one game ,it was already too late..
That’s what I’m saying that regular season result means nothing once the playoffs start, but TB expected to take it easy.

I disagree that regular season is just nothing, although playoff games are more intense. Good coach can deploy better strategy and make better adjustments. Two strongest team can meet in the first round. Also regular season is averaged 82 games, team can lose key players at the end of the season, loose a bit. NHL teams also very close to each other, compare to NBA for example. May games decided overtime etc.
For TB loosing Headman was a big thing, but their coaching staff seems lost.

You could be right, however in other sports for example in NBA or MLB I haven’t seen such stunning results in first playoff round.
Regarding the TB, they have so much depth and star squad that even loosing Headman should not lead to such poor result.

I agree for TB it is one of the worst playoffs for sometime. Yes, by loosing Headman it should be such outcome, but he is a key player with a big size who was losing a lot of minutes, it is almost like loosing two good D.
NHL is more competitive due the salary cap and drafts (promote better players to worst teams), that era of NHL left in 90s. Caps vs Canes just a few points difference in the regular season.

The last year I felt like CBJ were the toughest playoffs opponent. Now they are improved especially before trade deadline, so here we go.

Yeah this modern nhl era gives excellent chances to win a CUP almost any team. In addition, with such strict rules in drafts and salaries require higher ranked teams to have smart GM in their office and even that not gives guarantee of success as we can see nowadays.
The bottom line regarding the regular season is that many teams for example Canes or CBJ during the regular season just playing half of their potential, but once the playoff starts it becomes whole different story.

I don't agree that Canes or CBJs were playing half of their potential, but they manage to improve at the end of the regular season. Good trades plus managed to blend their additions into the teams.
-
By the way, Stars have a lead 5:3 against Nashville right now and I really start to believe this year in Cup Final could play any team :snicker:

True, that’s why TB was eliminated by CBJ.
Talking about Canes, it’s all about our poor coaching skills and players mindset.

Sharks/Knights game was bananas!! Down 3-0 with 10 minutes to go, the Sharks score 4 (FOUR) PP goals on a 5 minute major.. Knights pull their goalie and tie it with less than a minute to go.. Sharks win it at the end of OT. Bananas!! :uh-huh:

Yes, it was a great game, crazy comeback on 5 min major PP. Knights probably thought they already won the game.

4 goals on one major . . . Jeebus
Hope to hell we don’t get hit with one of those. We only have about 4 forwards that can play PK, and they can’t kill 80% of 2min penalties, let alone a 5
Sucks for VGK though, but a streaky goalie is a streaky goalie

Fuck Yeah!!!!!!
If you go to a Stars game, don’t have a blast, don’t make lifelong friends, and wake up saying I love Texas. . . It’s your own damn fault
I have to agree with you. I have been 3 or 4 times over the past few years when the Caps are in town to face them. Very nice arena, knowledgeable fans and they really do have a good atmosphere.
-
Dan O'Halloran strikes again - part of the crew that called Game 7 VGK - Sharks. Eakin with, at most, a 2 minute crosscheck on Pavelski, who bumps into Stasny and lands awkwardly on his head on the ice and bleeds - so the refs penalizes the outcome and give the Sharks a 5 minute major. Bullshit call, but ....shitty calls happen every series. VGK shat the bed giving up 4 goals on a 5 minute major.
Most beautiful thing is that POS Ryan Reaves is done for the year.

And I don't think any of them were "soft".. Least not in game 7. All 4 PP goals were deflections, screens type of goals and the ender was pretty much a breakaway that got behind the D and just beat him. Crazy! No, it was bananas!!

Can you imagine these boards if this fate happened in a game 7 of a Caps series? That sucks hard for Vegas, but these here boards would damn well explode.
-
So which team goes on to win it this year? Definitely a path for just about anyone now. I maybe might have to pull for Columbus. Honestly, other than beating the Caps, I'd be okay with Carolina winning...meh, maybe not.
I watched Babcock's interview after Toronto lost...it was like everyone expected him to be fired for them losing? All NBC talking heads discussing whether he should be brought back. Really? Hey if Toronto doesn't want him back, I know a team in the Metro that could use a good coach.

Knights-Sharks refs won't officiate in 2nd round

I don’t know much about O’Hallorans back ground, but the IRS or the Canuck version of an IRS needs to go through his accounts like colposcopy. Does anyone know what the over/under of the VGK/Sharks series, or just Game 7 was?

Possible, yet far from guaranteed. NYI is suffering from the Sweep Vs 7 Game w/OT syndrome. It’s very possible for that Hurricane to burn down to a tropical storm and the Isles get their stride back

If the Canes win over the Islander, it makes them beating the Caps pain a little less.

If anything the sweep only proves our series loss wasn't a coaching one. We almost walked through them in Game 6 and 7 at points and then our boys just let of the gas tank. It looked like far less of a mental let off as well and more just they didn't have it in them. An emotional Cup win does eventually have it's wear. If anything I'm more bummed it did, because if the Caps from last seasons playoffs showed up like they did in flashes of that Canes series for a whole playoff series? From what I've seen from every other series this season it would be a cakewalk for our boys. Even the mighty Columbus has been able to get pushed and intimidated. The big thing about the playoffs is the grind, really always is. Long series or not, games are generally high emotions and high drama/very physical.
Anyway I don't think Carolina has looked all that unstoppable, I think they were always a gritty team that played games that felt like they were one goals. But I mean let's not act like they looked unbeatable against us. Sure they had the big home ice games, but even still our boys had nothing left by the last ten minutes of the third period in Game 7 and it wasn't like Carolina game blasting out able to handle it. If anything it only shows the skill difference. If the hard work of Carolina plus the skill of their top line is enough to push Trotz/Isle I don't think Isles were that big of a deal either. Again like I said, I think this Caps team playing at 100 playoff conditioned and ready walks away with these playoffs probably.

Yep. The NYI fell victim to the sweep vs seven series curse. Logically, the rested team should have major advantages against a team that played the equivalent of twice as many games as them. But, there are times that other teams momentum/mojo/high/ carries directly over and is able to beat a rested team that has long since cooled down from there’s.

Hey Devise.
Well worded post, including the usual clarity in your style. Props to ya!
I’m with you on Carolina certainly being beatable, and the Isles, not being all that big of a deal either.
Respectfully, however, I disagree, (with what I can gather so far), from your overall assessments of why the Caps lost the R1 series.
No doubt that we saw the team run out of gas, that they “didn’t have IT in them”, in game 7, but I don’t follow your reasoning that well.
You say just prior to that quote, that you DIDN’T think it was a “mental let off”, on their part, so we can assume that you meant the running out of gas thing was describing more, a PHYSICAL condition, that occurred, and I would agree somewhat actually!
The issue, though, is what comes next in your post. This thing about an “emotional Cup win” taking its toll on the players.
“Emotional” would address a MENTAL issue, of which you thought, WASNT a real issue, contributing to the game 7 loss. Certainly the PHYSICAL BODY can’t possibly “tucker out”, in the last half, (and 2 OT’s), of an R1, game 7, played in April 2019, simply because it hasn’t recovered from a Cup series playoff win, that happened in June of 2018! Obviously not!
So then you must be giving some credence to the mental aspect of their recent, game 7, ousting, in the playoffs.
Rhetorically asking you, which is it?
Secondly, and still respectfully, how does a Carolina sweep of the Isles, relate to, and “prove”, that Rierdens coaching was not to blame!
I personally held off on judging Rierden, with any definitive conclusions, until the last few weeks of the regular season, so as to have a decent, 60-70 game sample, to look at.
Thusly, some patterns started showing themselves, IMHO, and, at a minimum, we all at least had a small sample to observe his pre and post game comments, with reactions, what he took note of, what he thought were problems, and successes. Also the players he did, or didn’t scratch throughout the year, his coaching “priorities”, and pet peeves, and the overall “cause and effect”, strategies that he either employed, or failed to employ, all season long!
Correct me if I’m wrong, Devise, but from some of your posts I’ve read over the seasons, you are in the camp of those feeling that the fault for lack of motivation/effort, from players in any given game, is generally, more on the players, than the coach.
While it is TRUE that the players decision to be motivated, or not, comes solely from THEIR BRAIN, it is the RESPONSIBILITY of the COACH, to DEAL WITH, TAKE ACTION, and RECTIFY, not only singular, but HABITUAL and REPETITIVE issues of low effort/motivation!
Todd Rierden FAILED miserably in this category! Even WORSE, he, and many players in the locker room, ACKNOWLEDGED the problem, REPEATEDLY, after the all star break, SO there is no claiming it wasn’t a ROUTINE issue, that we, as fans, constantly witnessed, and CONSTANTLY saw Rierden, not take meaningful measures, to address it!
Too many GREAT TEAMS, have won back to back Stanley Cups, throughout history, for the “emotional Cup win” excuse, to be a valid one! (Please take note I used the words, GREAT TEAMS)!
Todd Rierden, a very good man, failed to satisfactorily RECTIFY, season long issues, with some players low effort levels, as well as our famous PK, and PP issues, just for starters!
THAT is why Rierden bears a great bit of the blame for this seasons early playoff exit!
If we were to have achieved Oshies, “back to back”, wishes for a second Cup win, then we would have proudly, and deservedly, joined the ranks as one of the many GREAT TEAMS, in NHL history!!
WE DID NOT; The reality is still that we are one of the many GOOD TEAMS, that has won a Stanley Cup!
Todd Rierden, IS one of the MAJOR reasons, that is SO!
I welcome your comments

Mostly agree, but I don’t Carolina is that great of a team either. But they are certainly the “hottest” team. They are also benefiting from both teams assuredly looking over them. The Isles lost that series more than Carolina won it, which was mainly in net. By and large he Lehmer played great in his eight games, but let a few that while difficult, where not unreasonable in that he needed to make in the final two. He wasn’t by stench the sole reason or only one at fault, but a team with a defensive style needs a goalie to be elite in all big situations, like he was against a more offensive opponent in the first round.

Agree with both you and Devise on Reidon. Yes, the series loss was not totally a coaching one, but he sure as fuck didn’t do much, enough, or anything to be an asset to win that series, and would of continued to be a liability.
One example, “fatigue” has been used as an excuse. Well consider that 8 players on a Cup winner averaged more than 18:TOI in the regular season. In the playoffs, with a double OT, that number went up to 9 players. No wonder they looked tired.
In Game 7, The Canes has one player with under 10 min, (a rookie with limited NHL experience), while Dowd and DSP, veterans with usable skillets played under 10, and Stevenson playing only 14. 100min of game time and he benches a whole line . . .
This is just one example, but I have no confidence that he would gotten out of, and forced his players out of the comfort zone of just doing “what works” when it doesn’t
-
Just for clarification, I’m not throwing all the blame on our head coach. He shoulders a good portion of it, when the ENTIRE season is in view.
I’ll cut him his due slack for being in his first year, especially the early months of the season. Additionally, coming off a Stanley Cup year, unless you win it again, the only outcome possible, is a “less than” year. I’ll grant that to Rierden, as well.
Where the story is really told, for me, concerning the ASSESSMENT of his overall job performance, is in the LAST HALF of the regular season, and into the playoffs!
I believe a lot of things changed with the Caps overall play, throughout the season, but I attribute very little to Rierden, as the one responsible for AFFECTING those changes!
The Caps started out with difficulty, and challenges, in almost every aspect of the game! Then gradually through the second half of the season, we saw the Caps return to roughly the SAME Caps teams of the last few seasons, after the all star breaks, where we get a variety of big, dominating, 60 minute effort, type wins, peppered with decent wins, a few close losses, and some real disappointing, low effort, losses!
The common thread being they ALWAYS seem to be able to exert “just enough” overall effort, to win the division! ISNT THAT FRICKIN AMAZING!!!!!
Again, (luckily for the DC area fans), these guys are talented enough, to be able to almost turn it ON and OFF, AT WILL!! Some cities should be so lucky!!
They can practically dial in their destiny!
Trotz only had a LIMITED ability in attempting to control the “effort level”. And he’s an old school guy! Rierden is like silly putty in this area, as these Caps players ROLL, essentially, when THEY want too!
Their desire to play is completely disconnected from the head coaches desires. Both Trotz and Rierden are left only to COMMENT, and SPIN, to the media, AFTER THE FACT, of what type game the players CHOSE to play that evening! Both good and bad!
The coaches are GOOD at it too! Their JOB depends on it! Praising, of course, the good efforts, yet, skillfully, giving the fan base, softer, more digestible, and hopeful, assessments of REPEATED poor efforts!
Funny how our guys didn’t miss the WORLDS, isnt it??
Of course this is not exclusive to just the capitals! It’s in a lot of the NHL hockey organizations!
AND, It’s a damn shame!!
Realistically, folks in my general age group, will be the losers, as we find it difficult to move along with the times. I admire those who can adapt, but am absolutely not ashamed that I DONT!!
On a lighter note, I’M PULLING FOR GRUBAUER, and the Avalanche for this years Cup!
It’s the closest we can come to “back to back”!! LOL. 😂

Be interesting to see what, if any, changes Rierden makes to his coaching approach.. Will he just be the same as he was and hope for the best? Did he learn anything and will he adjust?? Will they change any of the assistant coaches or systems?? Will the veterans of the team help with attitude, effort, etc.. (ie: someone needs to hold them accountable.. On effort alone! Especially shit like Kuznetsov saying he just doesn't give 100% most of the time.. If that's how he wants to play, please trade him immediately!!) And that leads to GMBM.. What will he do with the roster? That's about all we have to look forward to, imo..
My bets: No major changes forthcoming, just tinker here and there.. Probably overpay Burt, Sign Vrana for longer than they should, so they can afford him, let Hagelin walk. Probably keep Niskanen as I don't see how they unload that contract w/o major "helpers" attached.. Connolly? Not sure.. Him or Burt have to go I suspect.. Orpik probably comes back 1 more time. So basically Im looking at the coaching, system, attitude type adjustments..
Look for this to be copied/pasted when the "offseason" thread pops up.. Im too lazy to write it again. :snicker:

Just a shame we couldn't muster a bounce in our favor in Game 7 and sneak away with a win (or not let in two untimely goals). This is looking to be an "easier than normal" path to the Cup. I'm not knocking any team along the way or the struggles each must overcome, but you have to admit Going thru Carolina, then Islanders is an easier path than Tampa or Boston or even Toronto.
Again, not knocking the teams that are still in it or what they have accomplished, but especially Carolina and Islanders have weaknesses a good team SHOULD be able to expose.
Even Columbus is not GREAT. I mean they are playing well and very tough, and Carolina is definitely hot, but they are by no means GREAT teams.
I really didn't think the Caps had it this year and figured them to get bounced eventually, but they sure as hell could have beaten Canes and Isles to get to a Eastern Conf final, and then who knows. We have two wildcard teams out of three total left in the east and a possibility of two wildcard teams meeting for the ECF. Two wildcard teams left in the West also...and a 2 and 3 seed. I mean, by standings rankings, six of the top eight teams are out and it could end up nothing but four wildcard teams left. (I don't think it gets there, but crazy playoffs this year)
Must be a true Cap fan.....still thinking what If, but If, If only...
I don't know who to pull for now. I definitely would like to see Columbus over Boston (although think Boston takes it), I'd like to see Columbus and Carolina play, and guess I would pull for Columbus, but I'd be okay with either. I sure don't wan't to see Boston in the SC Final. I mostly don't give a rat's ass about any of the Western Conference.
-
Well...just watch Mojo put a nail in Columbus's coffin. I didn't even know mojo played for Boston. Long way from the volcano now.
Anybody know how many former Caps are still in the playoffs this year?
I got
Gruby
Williams
Mojo
I can't think of others but I don't really follow other teams that much.
Boston up 3-0 with about 5 minutes left in 3rd. Looks like Columbus is done. Too bad. I would have rooted for them.
I guess I'm pulling for the Canes here on out

A lot of good points to ponder, Mick, for next year!
One factor that your post made me think about, to throw into the mix, about what, if any, actions Rierden may take next year.
The factor, we need to consider, is that Rierden was NOT a new head coach, brought in from elsewhere, where he would have had the added, pre season labor of bringing, and teaching, whatever “new system” that an outside coach normally brings with him!
On the contrary, he had already been a large part of the existing system, had deeply intimate knowledge of what worked WELL, and what did NOT work so well!
Talk about being a little “ahead of the curve”, for what new coaches are generally bogged down with when they arrive! Rierden was inherently RELIEVED of these beginner issues to deal with!
Add to that, the fact that almost EVERYONE from the prior season, came back! Not having to get to know new personalities, study new players you’ve never met! In fact, you’re familiar with the complexities, and inner nuance of chemistry, generally, between ALL your guys, ALREADY!!
The Caps were an EXCELLENT bet to win their division this year, (and they did), They got back practically everyone, with a new head coach, picked from within, and was willing to continue with the same basic system that won us the Cup!!
What should a fair minded person EXPECT to have happened? We DID win our division!!
Rierdens situation reminds me of a “herding sheep” scenario! Where two “shepherds” are responsible for corralling a flock of sheep, from out in the pasture, then thru a gate, and into a holding area.
One guy, gets all the sheep heading in the same direction, headlong towards the big gate.
Rierden is the second guy, who is standing there, holding the gate wide open, motioning with his arms, for the sheep to continue straightforward on their path, in which, so long as he doesn’t make ANY major, drastic, moves...the sheep will go on, their merry little way, into the pen!
Rierden, (the 2nd Shepherd, “gate guy”), has only to stand there, and ALLOW the “pre-directed” sheep to walk thru!
A job, where simply NOT IMPEDING, is the only requirement to “ get the job done”!
I believe Rierden will practice, NOT IMPEDING, or better said, NOT DISRUPTING, much of anything with the team, next year!
So long as he can basically keep the “wind ‘em up, and let ‘em go” attitude, where, AGAIN, the PLAYERS decide when their going to bring it, OR not, AND they’ll keep makin those playoffs, ya know....for US, the fans!!
Why should we expect anything different??.....
Ok, I’ll admit it! My soft sofa seat, for watching the games next season, will be different!!😂🤣😂

This Woman’s Rules, the “enforcement” of them by Beta control-freaks, and the marketing sideshow they bring with it is completely dishonorable and disgraceful to every player that came before and real fans of the sport

Now I like Anderson, but KEEP YOUR HEAD UP!!! He had to know the other D was coming and to keep his head on a swivel, or up at the very least.

Bishop kept the Stars in it as long as he could.. They didn't look "as bad" as the Caps in the 1st OT, but the Blues just looked starving style hungry!! I fell asleep during intermission but saw they won it in 2OT.. Guess I'll root for Gruby and the Avs in the other game 7..
-
Well it sucks that The Stars lost, but god damn that was one of the best games I’ve seen in YEARS!
Stl looked absolutely SICK. If they aren’t utterly gassed after that, and keep playing like that SJS or Col will have little chance.
I wish to hell we had their system, and a roster that would play like that.
-
Oh well, Grubi out too.. Sharks/Blues should be a good series. I "think" Boston is gonna thump NC.. :uh-huh:
-
So Williams is the only player left from last year's Cup team still in the hunt?

umm, nope. He hasn't been a Cap for a couple three years now

So NOBODY left in the playoffs, then.

there is a good possibility that Boston could have a week off
-
Unfortunately, it's lookin that way.. Just hope whoever comes out of the west can handle em'. They've got enough hardware for one city..
-
Well, STL lost on a hand pass . .
-
That was some BS.. How does the official not see that? Isn't he supposed to be watching the puck? Something else they need to add to the "review" list..
-
Um..yeah, that's what I meant...

well I guess you could consider Chief Berube - he was a Cap and is doing a fine job as head coach in STL
-

Well the Bs are up 3-0, and this year, every team that has swept a series has lost in the next round
-
Well, STL lost on a hand pass . .
One of the most horrendous, but not uncommon bullshit calls by the NHL. I don't know why we watch when I see crap like that. Obviously it's a rigged outcome. They had every chance to get it right. No question it was a hand pass.
-
I don't really care about either of these teams, but that made me sick and angry to see the game decided like that. I can't imagine how the blues players feel. I realize it was just a missed whistle, but it impacted the game. I mean, the Blues SHOULD have ended it in regulation and this could not have happened, but man, that has to be tough to deal with for them.
Hope they come back with a great effort and win the next one.
I pretty much could care less who wins the Cup at this point. I guess I'm pulling for anyone but Boston at this point.
Fucking Caps should have cruised thru this playoff path to the Cup final.

I'm rooting for the West. Would be the first Cup for either team. Boston won already and Marchand is a piece of shit.

Bs with the sweep! We’ll see if the “sweep effect” continues. But OT and hand passes could help make it easy on them.
-
gotta say I was disappointed the Cains went down so easy, I really don't care for Boston either. It would be a good time to see the chief get a Cup

Can someone explain why the Sharks hand pass was illegal?
TIA!
-
Can someone explain why the Sharks hand pass was illegal?
TIA!
Hey Barf!!
How ya doing? It’s been a while!👍
Anyway, a hand pass, in and of itself, is NOT illegal. It can LEGALLY be used by ANY skater on the ice, BUT, it has to be a LEGAL hand pass. If it is NOT a LEGAL hand pass, then the officials MUST blow the whistle, and stop play!
So the question is, what defines a LEGAL hand pass?
IMO, it’s easier to define what an ILLEGAL hand pass is, that would then cause the officials to stop play!
Ok, so a hand pass is illegal IF, in the opinion of the officials, it is “swatted” toward the direction of a fellow teammate on the ice, OR where the players hand pass has created an ADVANTAGE for their team!
Essentially, the only hand stop, or hand pass, that IS allowable, is one where the skater, who uses his hand to stop the puck, drops the puck to himself, in close proximity, and he retrieves his own puck in the continuation of his skating, OR he can “swat” randomly, at the puck, but the end result, CANNOT be advantageous to HIS team, in the opinion of the on ice officials! If so then play must be stopped!
Obviously, the San Jose hand pass was VERY advantageous to their team, which already makes it illegal, secondly, the pass went to a fellow teammate, which again made it illegal, so that as soon as the hand pass was touched by another SHARK teammate, officials should have blown the whistle, and stopped play!
They didn’t stop play because, believe it or not, NONE of the four officials claim to have SEEN the hand pass!!....(Are you frickin kidding me?)!! ALL FOUR OFFICIALS MISSED IT!!!!
There you have it, buddy!
I think that even the San Jose fans know they got away with one, big time!!
Hope that helped,

I almost forgot, Barf!
The other real kick in the groin for the Blues, was that the “call”, (or should we say, “non-call”), was also determined to be NOT REVIEWABLE!!! GO FIGURE THAT ONE???
One of my hockey buddies mentioned that had it been a pass, caused by something like a high stick, then it WOULD BE reviewable, and the Sharks goal would have thusly been ruled a “NO GOAL”!!
If I’m one of those officials, I’m not planning a family trip to Missouri anytime soon! 🤪🤪

Yep, you can review every other aspect of a goal.. Glad the Blues rebounded for game 4!!

So I grew up in STL and was a huge Blues fan as a kid and ever since. Went to a lot of games back in the days of the Plager Brothers, Noel Picard, Red Berenson, Gary Unger, Phil Roberto and my personal favorite Jack Egers (one heck of a slapshot). If only my parents had started me skating as a kid, I am pretty sure I could have been a Blue!
It's pretty freaky that my two teams I have been passionate about will be in the Finals in back to back years, after they had the longest draughts in NHL history! Just like the Caps last year, I think it is the Blues time - they are getting the calls, the bounces and they have a hot goalie.
Let's go Blues!!!!

fixed it for you

I see what you did there.. I'll tolerate a LGB.. But I draw the line at T..

the schedule for the finals is a damn joke, it will be 17 days if it goes 7 games

Didn't realize the Caps were still in it.. :-\ :raspberry: Blowing a 2 goal lead in game 1 prolly the kiss of death for ol' St. Loui..

Yep! This series could go down as one of the best ever

Missed the game, but from looking at the stats, the Blues DOMINATED OT.. 8 shots to 0, 5 hits to 0, 2 takeaways to 0.. 1 goal to 0.. :uh-huh:

Yep!!! This is probably goin to 7

St. Louis can GET DOWN when they want to!! Just clean up the (few) costly mistakes and they might be able to do this!!
-
God damn refs just FUCKED Boston by not calling one of the worst and most obvious fucking trips I've ever seen. instead of calling the penalty they allowed the Blues to score with a Bruin down on the ice instead of a big fat PP for the Bruins.
I swear these NHL refs are not stupid; they are fucking cheats!
:raised-eyebrow:
-
These officials are a fucking joke. . Gotta get their TV time
-
Here comes Game 7! (Called it!!)
It’s gonna be a good one
-
Ref getting in the way of a clear and ensuing crazy bounce from the point turned that game.. :-\ Hope the Blues can find one more! F Boston!! :uh-huh:

Yeah, the refs have fucked both teams this series. One would say the league outta be embarrassed but we know better. . . I think the only rule they know for sure is “don’t fight”
-
It's always nice to see a franchise win their first championship. Well done coach Berube.
-
What a game!! Blues counter punched the hell out of em' and Binnington was fire!! Didn't stick around to see it, but he must of got the MVP? Anyway, congrats to the Blues!! Anyone but Boston, am I right! :uh-huh: :raspberry: :snicker:
-
O’Reilly ended up winning the Con Smythe trophy but there is no way Blues would have won that game if Binnington hadn’t stood on his head in the first period. Boston dominated that period and would have had 3 or 4 goals had it not been for Binnington.

That is bullshit it went to OReilly. Yeah he had a good playoffs and got his name in the record books, but there is little to no way they’d of made it past any of the four rounds without Binnington playing on a historic level on a routine basis as a rookie.

Indeed! I don't follow closely enough to know, but how often does the losing team have the Con Smythe winner?? Cause w/o Binnington, they lose, period!

Singin’ the praises with ya, Mick!
So glad to see Marchand and the boys go down.
Have to give Bruins some credit, as they were firing on all cylinders, in that 1st P especially!!
Binnington simply put himself in the zone, gave it his all, stepped up like a true champion, and was thusly rewarded with being distinguished as “the one”, who’s play contributed MOST, (all of course, contributed), to serving up the FIRST Stanley Cup, in the history of the Blues franchise!!! We, as Caps fans, know EXACTLY how it feels!!
The Con Smythe, notwithstanding, (nothing against O’Reilly), but every Blues player, Coach, fan, and for that matter, anyone who saw the game, knows inside, that Binnington was the major problem, that Boston couldn’t solve, PERIOD! And Boston did not lay down, either! The Blues team had the greater desire!
By the way, CONGRATULATIONS BEAGS!! I know this one had special meaning for you!!
Have to be happy for Berube too!!
