They sure were talking up JC but he had a mostly open net and fired it along the ice and Into the goalie pads when ANYWHERE 12” and up was a goal

JC made a stupid play and handed to the guy for a breakaway
So far our “best defenseman” hasn’t been much of a positive for us

Can't really speak to Ovi playing that poorly. Other than thinking he's a skill guy, as usual, on the breakaway. But Oshie on the other hand.. Woof.. Dude has done nothing but turn the puck over all game.

That 3rd period was bizarrre. How can you play to lose yet stilll score 3 goals in the 3rd period?

Kuemper was trash in this game. He looked bad on all 4 goals. The Malkin goal was especially egregious. First off, it was like he didn't know where the goal was. Malkin could have actually scored on the short side where Kuemper was positioned. He was right in the middle of the crease when Malkin is coming in through the rightwing circle. Secondly, he HAS TO GET OUT OF THE PAINT! Two defensemen were coming back taking away the middle. Malkin could only shoot from where he was. If Kuemper gets 6-8 feet above the paint, Malkin can't see anything to shoot at. This used to be Goaltending 101 but too many goalies and goalie coaches seem to have forgotten it. If Kuemper does what he should have done, the game goes to OT.

I agree. All four were not great goals on Kempers part. Keumper is not great at mobility, but he generally gives the team a reasonable chance to win most games. Usually it's the team letting him down with poor run support, but this game he was one of the worst culprits in the loss. He's GOT to have that last one though. That's the game. Although, TBH, the Caps had no business being in this game the way they played the first 45 minutes or so.

I've been tellin ya. As the season goes on, the Scott Murray effect has started taking hold of both our goalies.. Kemper didn't let in ANY soft goals (that I remember) until probably December or January. Now there becoming a "thing" almost every game. Too many of our goalies have started out fine and turned to shit for it to be coincidence.

Too many players on this team have become much better after being traded for there not to be a serious issue here, and it’s far from just being the goalie coach.
