I wouldn't be surprised if Kempney still isn't %100 healed from his torn hamstring last season
:lmao:

That's a hook 6 days a week and twice on Sunday.. Hagelin got the shaft from the refs.
I'd rather see Jensen scratched a few more games. Although Kempny hasn't been stellar himself.
If Fervy plays well again tonight, Kempney's probably next on the scratch list..
That's a hook 6 days a week and twice on Sunday.. Hagelin got the shaft from the refs.Yup that hook gets called 99% of the time. I guess this was that 1%
Gooooaaaaallllll Nisky!!!The goal was given to JR but I'm not sure he even touched it.
the last three goals are not Holts faultAgreed. I think it is safe to say that the Caps are one of the worst defensive teams in the league. That is usually more of a coaching issue.
the last three goals are not Holts fault
they actually called embellishment 8-0
Damn we're soft.. :wtf:
umm, TMI...
umm, TMI...
:uh-huh:
well, it was a short pp
Cups Sack !!!!
it's games like this that take your name out of Norris contentionAfter the first half of the season it looked like he was a lock to win the Norris. I think that has changed.
Caps no longer the "best" team in NHL.The Caps play a very undisciplined game but they have more skill than anyone. They are winning games on skill alone. I don't think that will work come playoffs.
I'm still not sure how the hell we've held the top spot as long as we did.
Pure damned luck IMO.

When the fuck are we going to stop with the Holtby experiment? ??? ??? ?I don't think this is on Holtby. Poor defensively.
I don't care how bad the Caps play. A good NHL goalie shouldn't be letting in 7 goals on 25 shots...
I'd love to blame Holtby, but with absolutely NO ONE playing defense in front of him today I would give up 7 goals too.
The fuck they put Samsonov in for? He aint got nothing to so with this shit. Poor defense sure, but after the first 5 minutes I don't think HoltbyLol okstoppedtouched a shot..

If I was Holtby I'd be asking for a trade right after this game.
So would I. But neither of us would be paid $6-10 million a year. If we're going to have someone who will let up 7 goals a game, let's at least get some cheap as fuck player and save salary cap space and use it elsewhere.
I'd be more than happy to get paid $6 million a year if they're okay with me letting up a shitload of goals a game.
If I was Holtby I'd be asking for a trade right after this game.
Hershey ok?
IMO, they should send down ALL the Caps to the AHL and bring the AHL players up to make a point.
Hershey ok?
Trading him at the deadline might not be a bad idea. I doubt he will be resigned. May as well get something for him.
Hershey ok?

tonight wasn’t Holts fault, not by a long shotHolts didn't help his case, but the entire team sucked badly.
Which half? I can't think of a goal that I would blame on Holtby.
I think half of the goals against could have been saved. Not that they were super soft goals, but they were goals that a sharp elite goalie probably could have gotten. The other half were probably truly little to no chance. The loss isn't fully on Holtby, because even if he were doing his fucking job we'd still lose, but it sure as shit wouldn't have been such a blowout. I think a good goalie who plays like he's worth $6+ million a year gives up 3-4.
At this point you might as well put a sumo wrestler in skates and pay him league minimum to play goalie and just sit his fat ass there. He'd probably do no worse and you'd have several million dollars to spare.
Which half? I can't think of a goal that I would blame on Holtby.
Which half? I can't think of a goal that I would blame on Holtby.Holtby had a chance on Flyers goals 1, 3, 4, & 5. 2, 6, & 7 were tough ones. He should have stopped some of those. There was really only one series where he made notably good saves.

Goal 4 was particularly bad because he actually stopped it and let it bounce through/under his arm.
The entire team played like shit and did hang him out to dry on a few goals. That doesn't mean 7 is acceptable.
I hope you're wrong about the uniforms, because we have more games coming up where we'll wear them, including:
4. Please burn those fucking throw back uniforms. All we ever did back when we wore those things was lose when it counted, often in demoralizing fashion. Every time we've worn them lately, we look like dogshit. Just retire them for good.
Reirdon said theTEAMORGANIZATION deserved that score
Were 2, 6, and 7 the 2 one-timers (one cross crease and the other from behind the net) and the breakaway? Because if so I agree. There were a couple of deflection goals and a couple of wrist shot goals where I felt like a GOOD goalie could get some of them.
Again, LOSS isn't on Holts, but a good goalie doesn't give up a touchdown. A good goalie keeps the game within reach in case we want to mount a heroic comeback.
2015 was the last time the Caps lost by 5 at home, it was the game where Trotz benched OV for oversleeping, they lost 5-0
2 was the cross crease pass
6 was the net front deflection
7 was the cross crease pass from nearly behind the goal line on the 5 on 3.
I though Holts played the breakaway like crap and sat too far back in the net. He wasn't his aggressive self. he should have come out and challenged on that one IMO.
Cool to know. This was a hard game to swallow. Looked like complete garbage.
I thought this was Carlsons worst game of the season. He and Kempny were bad.
it was complete garbage, the defense has to give the goalie some support, and tonight was one Carlson’s worst games, along with the rest of the team. I’ve seen just about every great goalie get pasted like that when they get absolutely zero support from the rest of the team. And I think tonight was the first time I’ve seen Reirdon actually yell at the team, it was during that time out early in the 2nd.
I feel you guys are being too hard on Holtby. Obviously not his best game but none of the 7 goals were soft. I think it's time to stop throwing Holtby under the bus. Let's face the facts. This team is very weak defensively and we might be the worst team at managing the puck. I have never seen a team turn the puck over so often.
Looked at replays, I think 4, 5, 6 he should have gotten.
4 - The floater from the blue line that was deflected in. Holts was just leaky there.
5 - Turnover that led to a wrist shot from the Ovi spot. A good glove hand should have had that.
6 - The reason why I thought 6 he had a chance on was because the guy who tipped it WASN'T the guy on the far side of the net, he was the guy on the short side, and that tip was saveable with good positioning IMO.
The breakaway (#3), yeah I can see what you're saying about Holts being too passive there. That said, I generally don't expect goalies to save clean breakaways like that all the time so that's one I can see how he could have had that but also could give him a pass on. The three one timers I think were just too high danger to stop.
4 5 6 he should have had, and if he could have stopped 1 from the other 4 goals, I'd consider that a good effort on Holtby's part (we'd still lose though).
This reminded me of the game The Wings put 7 on Patrick Roy, in his infamous “last game in Montreal”. All 19 players for Montreal flat out quit, including Roy.

The remaining four "tougher" goals were the 3 one-timers from close up and the breakaway goal. I still think a goalie who is zoned in could get at least one of those, but those are some goals that admittedly I wouldn't have expected Holts to get. The other three though? Could have had them. Could have been a 4-2 or 3-2 game.

I wish Holts would of ripped Reirdon a new one and hope he went off, particularly on our faux-Norris candidate, in the locker room.
Not all of the problem is on the defense. Our forwards cheat by leaving the zone early not giving our defencemen anyone to pass to. Teams are picking off the stretch pass at a high rate because they know it is coming.
This team is not as good as our record indicates.

- February 10 vs. New York Islanders
- February 23 vs. Pittsburgh Penguins
- March 4 vs. Philadelphia Flyers

This reminded me of the game The Wings put 7 on Patrick Roy, in his infamous “last game in Montreal”. All 19 players for Montreal flat out quit, including Roy.This game also reminded me of that game which is why I made the comment that Holtby should ask for a trade after the game. It looks like the team has quit on Holtby and Holtby gas quit on the team. Might be time to move him.
His whole career he’s bailed out this shitty, pussy, lazy, move the puck to the other team, DCorps, particularly the biggest joke of a Norris candidate ever, making the saves you mentioned and keeping the all to frequent efforts to 3-2 games or even wins to get Presidents trophies.
But, there’s reality no need to worry for now. Ovie will crack 700 this year and may even hit 60 for the season, and “we’ll have a chance in the playoffs” and then Holtby won’t be a Cap anymore. But when he goes to a team we play against in the playoffs, that doesn’t have players watch breakaways from 2feet away and clears a net, our chances of winning that series will go to about zero. Then we can blame Sammy for losing a game 3-0
This is how Holts should start playing and thinking
