I only caught the last half of the 1st.. We were down 1-0.. How'd they look overall? Looked sloppy, as to be expected, from the bit I saw.

they looked ok from what I saw, I was switching between them and the Nats so only saw about half the game, mostly towards the end. Lots of fresh names this time of year, on both sides

Saw McMichael win a faceoff. Tried looking for him after, but only saw a couple minutes. I "read" that he had a good game and a helper..

Well folks, we’re here!
It’s so early on, right now, with the line between pre season sloppiness, and mistakes to be concerned about, being way too blurry, that I’m just glad, and feel refreshed, that the Caps hockey 2019 season is officially in the starting gates!!👍


Kinda cool, checking the newer jersey numbers, seeing the enthusiasm and pressure, felt by many of the youngins!


A few bright spots to mention. Wilson looked off the charts, ready to play, and was well above just being impressive tonite, even for the circumstances!


That big forward, Protas #59, stood out, as well!
Also worth mention, IMO, were Dowd, Boyd, and the speed of that kid, Leipzig?
Copley, a little rough, early on, but seemed to get more comfy as game went on.


Certainly nothing to write in stone, at all, but winning is always good!!


Rich, I too was surprised to see Ovi’s face, during the cereal promo with the kids!
Hell, for that matter, his hands and arms all had some wicked scrapes on them too!
Go figure...His own bike, can do more damage to Ovi’s body, than NHL defenseman! LOL!

I guess preseason obviously doesn't count regarding the suspension, but I thought kind of poor taste to put him out there for a game when we know he's suspended.
I mean, I don't know what I expected, as a team, you want him to be as practiced and game ready as possible, and pre-season really just is practice but...I don't know
I miffed at him, but maybe, in the long run, this will wake his ass up.  I doubt it, but maybe there's hope

The suspension doesn’t take effect until regular season, and I’m glad he’s playing. If what Kuzy did was such a problem in the eyes of the nhl, then the nhl should’ve done something about it. Three games is a fukin joke.

I was surprised too, at first. Then, I guess it makes sense, since he’s allowed to play pre season hockey, you would want him just as ready to go as anyone else.


I was actually more surprised at how utterly innocuous his overall game play was. A real nothing burger, individually, on his part.
Let’s not forget that Kuzy, regardless of the up and down swings of his effort levels on the ice, has been blessed with quite rare, and unique hockey talent!
Good, pro level, skillsets, that the average NHL offensemen possesses, develop, over time, from a lifelong dedication and commitment, to sustained hard work and practice.
These skillsets tend to come more easily to those specially blessed, lucky few, like Kuzy and others.


All the more reason that, skating amongst opponents, in early pre season, where young, inexperienced, NHL hopefuls, are PLENTIFUL on the ice, Kuzy, SHOULD have at least, an outstanding performance, if not stellar and noteworthy, right off the bat!


It would have been a great way for Kuzy to take some serious advantage of the pre season situation, AND, help start the process of improving his image here in DC!  Look at Willy’s dominant play from the first minute he got on the ice. #43 is making a strong early statement, to the fans, as to his commitment level for this season!


Kuzy, on the other hand, by comparison, well.....we get “vanilla”, at best! AT BEST!!
You can say, well, it’s super early, and you’d be factually correct, BUT...


In my experience with people who are SINCERELY attempting recovery, from any type of addiction, they are their own self-igniting engine!
You can’t STOP them from earnestly seeking help, and being grateful about having another chance at life! It just shows in their demeanor!
It is these types of folks that are on their way to better horizons! They’ve begin living true to themselves, often for the first time in their adult lives!  But at least they finally do it!
It’s a difficult thing to do, to say the least, and most of us who’ve been successful at it, have a long, long, road of failed attempts, that had checkered the road to recovery, before we finally get it!


Having ranted all this now, LOL, I have to say that I’m not the one who knows, for sure, whether Kuzy has an addiction problem, or not!
BUT HE SURE KNOWS!! We shall see!
