Hey! Wilson, Eller and Orlov looked pretty good. Fever ok I guess. Sheary and Sprong I didn't notice much. Also didn't notice McMichael, unfortunately.. Pilon with a sweet backhander and Snively looked good. Didn't really notice how "tested" our goalies were. Saw where VV lost in the shootout, so, there's that.. :wackysmile:

Kuzy seems to be skating well. Little pep in his step. They say Kempny is healthy and is the "x factor" on D.. I think Mantha is the x factor on O. Boy needs to show us something this year. Makes too much money to just skate around.

Well, outside of Carlson, they looked meh.. Oshie had a nice breakaway goal. Kuzy looked decent. Rest of the -starters- looked rusty and/or lazy..
Most of em' we know what we have, but this mother fucker who makes MORE than Tom Wilson and nearly as much as Oshie better show me something.. Looks like a 5.7 million 4th liner to me.. :-\

Well I only watched the 5 minute synopsis, but if Kempney is the X factor.....we are in trouble. He handed over the first goal and was beaten twice others that led directly to goals.
Hard to tell only watching 5 minutes, but 3 glaring mistakes in a game by one veteran D isn't a good start.
Everything looked kind of loose and not so intense so who knows. It's only preseason and I know it's mostly for evaluation, but...
Still....scoring a PPG AND a Shortie is a game you should win.
Allowing 5 goals isn't going to win any games.

What's funny about your comment is....only watching the five minute condensed synopsis, I was wondering if the Great 8 even played, cause he sure was not in any highlights. The highlights certainly don't give you a feel for the game so you can't really tell anything (except who scored....er um....AND who was beaten like a drum....repeatedly)

He was out there. Looked uninterested/slow. Had 1 decent 1 timer that went high. That was about it from him.

Everyone looked slow...well on D anyway. Every goal NJ scored looked like they beat one or more guys to the puck/net and nobody really gave a damn. Meaningless games, yes, but still.
Actually offense looked okay, but nobody seemed to be caring much about D.
Again...FTIW...only saw 5 minutes of highlights.

I thought the team showed decent speed on O, passing still needs work, and yea, there wasn't much D, from either side really
but it's only the 2nd preseason game

Sounds like Kempny had another shit showing.. ( I barely watched. Came on on delay at 10pm on NHLNet. But then I saw the final score scroll across the bottom of the screen and just turned it off about half way through the 2nd) Anyway, it's about time Lavi puts a hockey team on the ice. These taxi squads are neat and all, but they got 3 games left to get their shit together..

Well I just went to the Caps website and you can live stream it there.
Caps down 1-0. It appears to be end of the 1st because the live stream is commercials. And apparently its the friggins Devils feed....cause it was a promo about the Devils...and now I have their talking heads showing high lights

I HOPE for their sake that the talking heads on the NJ channel and the "broadcast center" they are in are all temporary for pre-season cause it's a joke.

Announcers are TERRIBLE. They don't call the game but rather just talk the whole time about the Devils. Which I get, but at least someone follow the play.

I don't care about the score, with the lineup tonight that wasn't important anyway. I would have really liked to see, or at least hear how our guys played by listening to our announcers.

McMichael looked good. Scored one, but also had a good chance earlier.
Vitek actually looked pretty good despite the score. I did not watch the third at all, but Vitek made several good stops to keep the Caps in it through the second pd. He had to because there were lots of chances by the Devils.
I went to the Caps website and click on highlights from the game last night and it brings up the highlights of the Flyers game :huh:
Really wonder about the issues and lack of effort they appear to put in their website considering Ted's background and the whole Monumental Entertainment brand and such.
Especially over the summer. I mean I realize it was offseason, but you'd think a company like "Monument Entertainment" would have one of the better sites with at least some sort of news updates about players, acquisitions, etc. OR even just fluff about the players and their off season lives.
I give them props for the best broadcast team in the business and even the entire pre, post, and in-game staff, crew and production is really good. It's A-1 and really well done. I certainly prefer that over a hopping website with decent news and such, but...still.

Well that sucks for Dr. Fever, but sounds like it's not too serious (but WTF knows they way they hush up all injury stuff) Timing sucks for him - I was hoping to see him in the lineup regularly this year.
I tried to remotely tune my DVR to NHL Network to record the game, but it gives me an error message. I won't be home till 9:30 so maybe I'll try again later.
I'm curious if it is a remote glitch or that the channel is blocked because it is a local game? Wait....it's in Boston right? WTF ever.

So, Im watching and there's a delayed penalty on the Caps.. Going to commercial I see Kuznetsov climbing back over the wall onto the ice. He looks bummed. So I figure, oh the penalty must be on him.. Turns out, it was because Lavi called his # for the PK.. :rofl:

I got to watch a game!!! IT was on NHL Network for me. I watched it late.
1st period was pretty piss poor except for the Oshie/McMichael/Sheary Line. They had several good chances and I thought they were the best line all night, continually hustling and creating chances.
Kuzy actually looked pretty good on the game as a whole. Doing that circling the wagons thing again round and round the zone he goes. Although his circling drop pass at the blue line to Jenson (I think) scared the living shit out of me - it was about 4" from being a drop pass to a 2 on none break away for the Bruins.
Nice to see Big Willy score too.
No Kicking motion? :huh: What the fuck replay did they watch? The guy totally kicked the puck in...It's second nature and how you get the puck out of your feet, you kick it up to your stick. I'm sure it was not his intent to just kick the puck in the goal, but that is what happened. Even the Boston announcers were laughing about it and later when they missed on a scoring chance one of them said "just kick it in!"
Vitek looked very good except for the one he thought he had and it was laying on the ice Taylor Hall chipped in. And he didn't look so good on the Pasternak breakaway, but.....it was like the 10th breakaway or odd man rush so...
Actually Vitek made LOTS of great stops to keep us in the game so I'm not faulting him at all. I'd say he had a very good game to give us chance to win.
So overall...we looked like slow doo-doo in the first (except for TJ/MM/Sheary), but picked it up pretty well after that.
Pretty sloppy D overall, but I have to be happy with the outcome: goals by Kuzy, Willy, Oshie, and Mantha including one PP and one in OT. Especially nice to see all four of those guys score. I think Ovie had 2 assists?
Our goalies are going to have to be sharp if this is the kind of team D we are going to play in front of them.
I thought VamRiemsdyk played well. Have not really seen him play much. Well....he moved the puck well and was involved in the play - I don't know that any of our guys played good D
I'll take it...got to watch the game and even got a OT and shootout win :huh:
