Woop! There it Is!!!

I can't wait to watch a Caps game tonight.
-
Rags play the Hens tonight, it's that time of year to start cheering for opposing teams
and the matchup we've all been waiting for is tonight...
Devils vs Sabres
-
Oh. Wait. I have no TV access to the games anymore :'(
Friggin sucks. Caps games are the most important reason I even have a TV. Listening on the radio when I'm out doing something is fine, but when I'm actually at home, I want to be watching the damn games.
FU Dish Network.
I read they (Dish) could not reach an agreement with Regional Sports Network and NBCSN because they (RSN/NBCSN) were not negotiating reasonably and the costs were simply too high for Regional sports coverage and that the channels were watched by such a small percentage of Dish users. (yet DirecTV carries these same channels)
That's a load of shit because EVERYONE watches the local sports networks. I have considered NHL Center Ice packages in the past but they blackout the "local" games which is all I am interested in.
(apparently not true with other providers like DirecTV, etc because THEY can afford to carry these networks)
-
Rich, is your neighborhood wired for cable?
-
:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:
Rich, is your neighborhood wired for cable?
That'd be no. We have absolutely no wired internet of any kind available. Not even DSL.
And I had satellite internet before and it was beyond a joke. Which I never could understand because I can watch 250 HD channels on Dish or DirecTV (which are satellite) but you can't have any reasonable internet via satellite?
Dish says they are still in negotiations and "cancelling and switching" to another provider allows these rogue networks to just keep raising prices out of control so it's bad for the industry.
But...if you don't offer the programming I want....and DirecTV does...then you lose.
I was going to give it a couple week and see what happens. I'd really love to just have internet and could live off streaming services for the amount of TV we watch but that's years away in my neck of the woods.
I've tried both DirecTV and Dish over the last couple decades. I actually prefer DirecTV, but Dish has (for me) had much better service and the costs are much cheaper for relatively same programming. And DirecTV DVR storage is about 40% of Dish basic versions.

you don't even have a landline?? 8-0
When I lived out that way both places I lived had cable, even out in linden where I was 1 1/2 miles from asphalt.
you need a cellular modem
-
I just got Tmobile's internet 5g service, it's pretty good. And from what I've read in the forums, it occasionally works out in the boonies. Line of site, or at least pointing the unit towards the cell towers. No contracts, unlimited data, totally wireless, crazy speeds where I'm at. Just ran a speedtest, uploads are a lot faster, normally in the 50s. 60 bucks a month.
look up cellmapper.net, see how close a cell tower is to you.
Ping 20, DOWNLOAD Mbps 280.39, UPLOAD Mbps 3.66
Let's GO CAPS! Should be a good game!
-
Rich, you tried tuning the games in on rabbit ears (digital antenna) That is if they even broadcast those channels anymore.

I don't think the local sports teams have been broadcast over the air since hockey and basketball were on channels 50 and 20
-
There is always NHL.tv. $25/mo.
-
And its not like I'm WAY out there. I'm in Fauquier County and we are WAY behind the techno curve.
I am literally 12 minutes from town, but there is nothing available right where I am. I have 4g wireless (verizon) but not a great signal. It's "unlimited" but there is a 10GB limit on hotspotting the phones. We have 5 (phones) in my family and burn them all up (well I don't, but 3 teenagers do streaming netflix and such)
My previous house in Fauquier was in more of a neighborhood and we had cable (Comcast) so it was great.
I DO have a gun range in my yard where I'm at now though :)
-
If you're on android, you can use an app called pdanet, install on the phone and the computer. It will "hide" your hotspot usage, it makes it think you're on your phone and not tethering to a computer. I believe there is free trial version. When my internet goes out, I've used that, once for an entire month. No extra costs on my phone bill. I was running the entire home network off of the phone connection.

I think line of site is a problem. I'm literally in the woods. Dish only works cause its on the roof and cleared yard around house has enough space to angle above the trees.

Tmobile interactive map shows "limited signal strength" for 5g in my area and "fair signal strength" for 4gLTE when you switch off the 5g filter
I have verizon (4g iPhones) and a cellular hotspot and never have trouble with phone calls, but it's not a great signal
When push comes to shove I can watch live stream at work on my PC, with comcast business cable internet, but I spend way to much time at the office as it is.
Actually I could probably look into a regional sports cable access for the tv (which is never even turned on), but I just have the very basic TV cable package on the work service now because it's bundled with the business cable and phones
-
And my recliner and big screen TV and American Honey is much more comfy at home. ;D
-
Caps are on 99.1fm celestial because the mlb is on 106.7
-
Need a couple points here on the Isle, can I get an AMEN? :raspberry:
-
Losin' faceoffs like their goin out of style!
-
Good PK!
-
As usual, too much time in the wrong end of the ice..
-
I just noticed that Vrana is dressed tonight. Didn't even notice him the first 16 mins.
-
We've got 2 huge problems.. We can't win a faceoff and our top 2 lines can't get out of our D zone. Not sure how you fix either, but that's where the problems lie. Transition is really our only offensive threat.
-
had the 1st on the radio, Walton was amazed the Caps didn't get a PP after Eller got tripped. I haven't seen a replay yet
-
and that 1st went a hell of a lot better than the last time these two played
-

I think it was our own stick that tripped Eller? And it really didn't go much better, sans the luck and goalies best friend x2. We were dominated for the most part.
And to Chaos' post, the only time I noticed Vrana was when he had a chance to go strong along the boards to keep a play alive, but pulled up and stuck out his stick instead. :-\

If Vrana doesn't put in a better effort he will get benched again.
-
terrestrial radio is actually synced with the tv tonight
-
5 on 3 1/2 and they got one shot
-
Not sure how we beat these guys 3x.. Trotz made an adjustment the last 2 games we're getting our ass kicked ever since..
-
don't know how the Isls didn't score on that shift
-
next season when the Bruins are in town I'm gonna get tickets behind the players bench just so I can ask Pasta for a coffee
-
Welp.. It was better then the 1st period but that's not sayin much.
-
Wow. A real barn burner
Isles are the best 3rd period team in the NHL
But then Caps are best 2nd period team and what did that get us?
Go Caps
-
Who knows, maybe we steal a point here!? :clown: :poop:
-
amazing this is 0-0 into the third
-
this slashing rule is a fukin joke
-
Dillon abuse..
-
:goalie:
-
great pk
-
Little spark after the PK.. Smoke but no fire, yet.
-
:O=
:poop: :clown:
-
Oh well, they fire hosed us.. :clown: :poop:
-
2 mistakes by Chara cost us that goal.
-
Rags up 8-3 over Hens with 9:00 to go
-
Sabers are up by 1 with 4:00 to go
-
:goalie:
-
Can't even get a shot on goal with the net empty.. Isles are just better then we are or want it more.. Either way, not good.
-
Oh well. We didn't deserve this game.
-
I'd like to know how that wasn't delay of game
-
Thought Backstrom was lazy tonight and did not have a good game.... at all. Can't really think of anybody that played well except Vitek - he was amazing. Could have been 5 - 0.
Also, way past time to give Charra or Dillon a rest.
-
I'd like to know how that wasn't delay of game
Does it really matter?
-
At least we didn't give up an empty netter!! Bout the only thing positive from that game. Ovie, Oshie, Nicky.. among others, Invisible.
-
Does it really matter?
Since the Caps have scored off of the faceoff, yes. But mainly it's the damn rule.
-
Sabres won 5-3 :)
-
Rags beat the Hens 8-4  :)
-

Ya you are right. There was 4.6 seconds left. Very unlikely we would have scored but you never know.
It sure looked like a delay of game.
-
That was a big "fart noises" game if I ever seen one. As close as the score was, it really wasn't.. Catch you guys Thursday!
-
Vanecek looked better than Sammy did the other night
-
Vanecek looked better than Sammy did the other night
I thought Vanecek was lucky the first 2 periods. He was beat a few times.
3rd period he was very good. Obviously can't blame goaltending for this game.
-
Wtf does Lavi do about Dillon and Chara. Both are playing awful right now.
One of them has to sit for Seigenthaler. I think Dillon and Chara could take a couple games off.
-
Sounds like I missed a real good one. :-\
-

it wasn't a real bad one
-
it wasn't a real bad one
I dunno.. Maybe it was the bourbon. I just didn't see any heat -at all- put on Varly.. Decent amount of shots, but little quality. Have we played worse? Most definitely, but I still thought it was pretty bad. Veteck was pretty lucky good!
-
Aside from losing, I hate watching this non-physical hockey with no fighting. When they do fight it is just an arm grab and a slow dance for a few seconds until the refs step in. Wilson had zero hits that last few games - that ought to tell us where hockey has gone. And, when Wilson gave a cross-check to Martin while he was down on the ice, no retaliation. Just embarrassing.
-
Caps definitely aren't built for a finesse game.. Least not for more than a period or so. I don't recall Wilson being a difference maker at all since his return? I mean, he hustles and kills penalties fine, but not hitting and being himself takes away from his game. W/O that, he's just another big guy out there killing ice time.
-
because the league has scared Willy into being non physical, they did the same shit to OV. It will be next season before Willy isn't scared to really hit someone, lest the league make up the rules again and suspend him
