Maybe you can give him a game to send a message to the league, but 7 is a fucking joke. This league sucks balls.

Boarding? While facing him? Up against the wall?  NHL gonna do away with checking all together before long. Sad.

He should appeal it and probably will but it will do no good. The league commissioner will schedule the appeal meeting in about.....14-15 days or so and then after a few days review will reduce it to 5 games about the time the caps have played 7 games without Willy.
They need to apply the rules of suspension exactly as they are laid out in their criteria regardless of the player  or it’s total BS. Which we all know it is.
How can it be boarding when you hit the guy in the chest?
It’s unfortunate Willy caught him in the head on the follow through of the hit. Doubt his intent was that and another meeting with the Dipshits ...DOPS

It wasn't a high hit or boarding.
They are saying that it was a hit on a defenseless player. The only thing that made him defenseless was himself by lowering his head to look for the puck.

Yep, they're making shit up to fit a narrative. Narrative being, they don't want big hits in their league. We'll still be alive when you can no longer hit in the NHL, guaranteed..

I agree. This hit didn't really meet the criteria for a suspendable play. So they made up a rule specifically for Tom Wilson. No hard hit allowed.
And you notice how they never say a word about the guy getting hit when he is endangering himself by putting himself in a vulnerable position.
Why put it all on the player delivering the hit? Teach these idiots how to take a hit.
If you listen to any old school player about hits like this and they will tell you that if you have your head down like that you are going to get rocked.
There is less hitting in the league now than there ever has been but it seems there are more injuries. It's because the new breed of pussy players think they can prance around the ice with there head down and not get hit. And for the most part those players are right because there just aren't as many big hits anymore. The problem is that there are still a few guys like Wilson around and the players don't have a clue how to protect themselves.
I honestly think that the drop in physical play has made players oblivious to their surroundings. In today's game you see all these sissy skilled players trying all these fancy moves like toe drags, deeks and shots between the legs, spin moves. In the past if you tried those types of moves, you got put on your ass.
I'm getting close to giving up on this game.

Sorry for the long rant. I disagree with this suspension. It seems if a player gets injured from any hit there will be a suspension even if it's clean.

Jamie Rivers (former NHL'r and ESPN radio analyst) absolutely ripped the NHL to shreds on this suspension.

Carlo's stick is what caused his injury, and Jamie broke the hit down frame by frame. Then, on top of all that, they made him a "repeat offender" which he hasn't been suspended in over 3 seasons - which negates him being a repeat offender.

There was no penalty on the play assessed at the time, and Wilson had to fight two times so the retaliation method was met and he had an amazingly clean game after the fights.

This suspension is an absolute atrocity for not just Wilson or the Capitals, but the NHL and the DoPS completely.

Yup. The NHL made complete asses of themselves. I am so pissed about this suspension.
