I listened to Lavy presser (from yesterday I think) and LOTS of questions about D changes and he sounded like NO changes or subs on D coming. Although I just listened to one from this morning made some line changes on the O-lines. He was happy with Eller and Panik's play so moved Oshie there to maybe get some more going. Nice if it works. I'd agree that Eller has played well. Oshie works hard everywhere so maybe that will get them some production. Little surprised no changes on D (even if just for a rest) Sucks for Ziggy. He played well enough last year to be playing. And he was probably our best PK d-man. I know Groot is a PK guy with a huge reach, but I have been surprised by his lack of mobility. Saw guys burn around him several times last game. Oh and I thought Willy was the best player on the ice last game. Go Big Willy.

Cool. I loved Alzner when he played here. Good for him to get that contract but Montreal was fucking brain dead for paying that....you could SEE Alzner's decline even the last year he was here. Great guy and hated to see him go but man was he never going to be worth what Montreal paid him. Good on him though for getting free agent deal.

And I meant to mention during the last Hens game....The NBC guys were talking up TR and his hiring as "defensive" coach for the Hens.
That seems to be really paying off for them. Their D doesn't look so good, but then it sucked in last year's playoffs so...can't blame that on Todd, but if they don't pick it up soon, I see TR looking for another job.

I'm not exactly sure what happened on that play. I have no clue where Carlson even was. And who was the dumbass that dumped the puck in on the goalie. It's a 5 on 3 why dump the puck in and why dump it on net?

It wasn't dumped back at the goalie, it was passed to Carlson at the point and he let go past him which turned into a cluster that the hens won down by two men

On the short handed goal against Kuzy dumped the puck into the offensive zone and put it right on net.

AND if they would have called the penalty of the guy hooking Oshie down 5 seconds prior to that then there would have been no hit

That was an ugly game. About the only guy that has played well every shift is Wilson.
Has anyone else noticed that outside the 2 goals against Buffalo Vrana has been completely invisible.
And I think we might have some issues with our goaltenders.

I'm worried because neither of them look ready to be a starting goalie in the NHL. Both need a lot of work on the fundamentals.

To reiterate and abbreviate (your welcome) my previous glorious (yet phantom) post...
1st Period looked great
2nd Period dogshit
3rd period...looked like hanging on for a tie
OT...looked like tie and OT loss was just fine by us,
And they looked so damn good in the entire 1st period. They dominated every aspect of the game.
Don't know if its bunch of tired old men or just not quite cohesive yet.
I imagine it is hard with so little camp, no pre-season, new coach, new players, etc, etc. but tired of making excuses for this bunch.
And wasn't it the idea that we shore up the defense with all these new acquisitions? Yet we have a 3.5 GAA.
Big Willy has looked damned impressive throughout. Even the NBC talking heads were praising his play. Willy looks like he's giving 100% all the time.
Jensen actually looks better this year...maybe confidence of having Groot out there to rely on or maybe just Lavy's system is more his style of play....or maybe just a four game fluke. I sure would like to see Ziggy in there.
Would be nice to think maybe it's fatigue from so much play in 6 days combined with new coach, new system, new guys, 8 months off, etc, etc
BUT....man up and play already you bunch of old Fucks.

normally there are 6 preseason games, the vets usually only play in 3 and that's just a couple periods. The number one goalie will play all 60 of the last preseason game but he's the only one. The biggest loss is the month of practices. Every single team is in the same boat, I'm not worried. The very young and inexperienced goaltending will improve, and so will the D in front of them.
I'm pissed about the b.s. officiating the Caps always get in shitsburgh, should've won that first game 3-2 in regulation and the call on oshies hit I didn't like either. I bet there's about 20 of those every season that don't get called.

Yep, but I did hear them say Eller (yes, ELLER) won a high percentage of his faceoffs this year. (No idea where to look that up)
