Caps played well too, for the most part

Don't worry fellas....it's all part of the master plan - they are just lulling teams to sleep with their mediocre play.  Gonna shock the NHL come playoff time

Seriously, are you ok to drive home?  :snicker:

OV destroyed his stick on the bench at the end, so at least he still cares

Nice to see that. At least we say some flashes where we played like we cared tonight. Actually laid a few hits out there.

We should get waxed by Carolina next game, but I think Ovi has had enough and we win that one.  I know, crazy....

This team is simply beyond hope now.  You realize how utterly slow they are when you see them against a team like Toronto which moves the puck around crisply and with speed.  They also lose just about every battle on the boards which is always lethal.  The coach can't seem to inspire much effort, either.  It's past time to blow this thing up and nobody except maybe Ovi should be untouchable.

I'd keep a few more, but yea they shouldn't be afraid of blowing it up.. There isn't any future with the current lineup.

I'd keep: Ovie, Wilson, Sheary, Dowd, Hathaway, Orlov, Fehervary, Jensen and see what I could get for the rest of em'..

Good post. We are paying the price of giving away draft picks and a poor farm system.  We don't have a single buy under 25 that you can say is a top tier NHL player. Coaching is becoming more of an issue as well. I will give Caps ownership and management props for being consistent and loyal, but the league has passed us by....

I don't watch much other hockey than the Caps, but I turned on a game couple nights ago and yeah...the speed and movement of the other teams....was like watching teams geared up in the 2nd/3rd round of the playoffs.  You don't realize the difference until you play a team that is just superior.

Caps actually played a pretty hard/decent game against Toronto and had some chances, but they did look outmatched and it felt like the outcome was inevitable.  I think the Caps played harder, but it didn't matter.  The Caps can up their game and compete on a nightly basis - if they get some goaltending, but the long and short is...in the long run, they are just outmatched in too many areas compared to the better teams.  You can overcome shortcomings in one or two areas, but not with glaring weaknesses in so many areas.
