Trotz has no control over this team. They have no fear of repurcusions so they keep doing the same stupid things. Same guys, nothing changes.

I wanted a coaching change after that horrible Colorado game in November. When the team started playing better it only prolonged the inevitable. This is also why this team needs a new captain. I said at the time, when BB was canned it was the wrong person

Even Alan May called out Carlson on the last goal.....ah, who cares, I’m tired of calling out Carlson. Nothing changes.
Carlson got beat to the outside but he forced the guy wide. It was Kempny that lost his man in the slot.
On the first goal Holtby gave up a rebound that he probably shouldn't have but it was Kempny that lost his man in the slot on that goal too. Those are very routine defensive plays. I dont see an upgrade defensively.
When he was in Chicago he was sheltered because he had issues in the defensive zone.

Pretty sure we can't blame all this teams woe's on the newbie in their first game here.
Just sayin'.

Besides, better to get his teething over and done with now and not just before the playoffs.  Let's give the guy a chance.

Imight change my mind once I actually get to see him play though...

Yea, I don't think picking up a couple guys who can't get ice on shitty teams is gonna change the theme.. These guys can't play 60 minutes and Trotz does zero about it.. Apparently anyone in the top 6 or top 4 is much to important to bench, to send a message, so business as usual it is.  :poop:

It’s time for Trotz to quit, the team doesn’t know how to play defensive inder his control and I don’t see any real good changes in defense/offense under his control for couple seasons, same mistakes every match. In fact,if caps would like to show better hockey in playoffs there’s no better way as change Trotz >:(

I don't think it's the coach that's the problem.
We've had several player changes, with the same results, post season.  It's not the coaches...(bar one, "he" who cannot be named),who is the problem.   It's our core.
This team has been given every single chance, but just can't seem to do it.

I think now is the time to have the yard sale.  After this season.  Start again.  We;re not going to win a Cup with what we have, or anytime soon.  We need to start again from scratch.

If Ovi isn't allowed to play for his country in the next World's, let alone Olympics, he'll be gone anyway.  Same with Backus. Maybe Kuzy also.

Who knows ,maybe many of the worlds top players would join them and start a revolution against the NHL and it's bias and corruption!!!

In our little hockey planet, we need a Wellington to put the little Bonepart that is Bettman , soundly on his arse.

Yeah, I get you.   But that doesn't explain our repeated failures.
You want Joe Q. here?  Do you actually think he'd come here?

Him? No.
But every now and and then you can find a good coach that wants a challenge, this lockeroom will definitely be a challenge

We've had multiple coaches. I love Ovechkin, but he and Backstrom  are the constants here. They are the leadership core that hasn't gotten it done. Continuing to retool around them hasn't worked for a decade. No matter the coaches or supporting cast it's simply not happening.

True, but that’s only the surface.

I’m more and more convinced that this culture comes from the top.

If any coach or player absolutely went the hell off on Ovie, be it publicity/privately, benched/or punches thrown, I have no doubt they’d be gone regardless of the reasons or need.

So for any change to be more than marketing , it’s gonna need to start at the top

this has been bothering me ever since he said it as it doesn't make sense. In last nights pregame ceremony Luongo said he has lived in Parkland(where the shooting happened) for 12 years. So he put down roots at the same time this happened??.....

"Set to become a free agent for the second consecutive off-season, he could not come to an agreement with the Panthers, having formally turned down a five-year, $30 million contract offer in January 2006. It was also reported that among Luongo's demands were that backup goaltender Jamie McLennan be re-signed, his long-time goaltending coach François Allaire be hired and that a public statement be released that he would not be traded until the no-trade clause of his contract took effect."

he was then traded to Vancouver for the 2007 season, where he stayed until 2014 when he was traded back to Florida. Those aren't the kinds of demands a free agent makes when he really wants to stay with his current team.

I agree. I think the problem starts at the top. Trotz is doing what he can with what he was given. I dont think we have the right personnel and we aren't adding what we need. That's a management issue.
