Watched the condensed game/highlights. Saw lots of bouncing pucks off guys skates creating weird chances. Mostly not blaming Sammy who pretty much held them to two goals for MOST of the game, but...he has to stop that shot with 3 or so minutes left to keep them in the game. That wasn't exactly a softy, but he has to come up with that. (not that it would have mattered)
Don't get a feel for the game just watching highlights, but boys did get some scoring chances.
Spronger's got a wicked shot. Don't understand why he always seems to be in the doghouse.
Also I read early yesterday how bad San Jose has been on the road and a streak of a bunch of road games without a win and so on....figured they were due for a win.
Nobody else in Metro (that matters) played last night.
Carolina plays Senators tonight then NJ Friday, which sounds like 4 more points
Shitsburgh plays Krakken tonight then Detroit Friday, which sounds like 4 more points
NYR play Blue Jackets tonight, then MIN Friday, sounds like at least 2 points.
Actually Boston did play and lost in OT to Colorado, so picked up 1 pt. They play Arizona Friday, so there is 2 more.
Updated after Thursday games....
Canes won - now in 1st with 60pts (and 4 games in hand)
Shittsburgh OT loss - now 2nd with 60pts (1 game in hand)
Rangers lost - now in third with 60 pts
Caps - still in fourth with 55pts
Boston - 51 pts (and 4 games in hand)
Caps are anchoring themselves into a wild card spot...soon to be the last WC spot. Boston trails the Caps by 4 pts, but have 4 games in hand.
Thankfully, Detroit is the next closest to the last WC spot and still 13 pts behind the Caps with 1 game in hand.
I've been done with Football for years....baseball lost it's appeal too. Caps are the only sport I really still watch and they aren't making it worth the effort lately. Same ol', same ol' I guess. Play well enough at times to give you slight glimmer of hope, then have some ups and downs, then coast into the playoffs where they don't up their game at all - or address any issues and then get embarrassed in the first round.
Anyone ever wonder what this team would have been like the last 17 years if Ovi had been a bust...or we didn't draft him? He MADE the Washington Capitals and he IS the Washington Capitals.
