I just got on here because we had family over this evening celebrating my birthday.  I presume the Caps [Hagelin] scored into their own net while Fucale was pulled on a delayed penalty.

Looking in the record book, there is an entry for the "Longest continuous shutout by a goaltender at the start of an NHL career."  The record belongs to Matt Hackett, at 102 minutes, 48 seconds, established December 6&8, 2011.  The key words in that record would seem to be "by a goaltender".  One would think that the goal that was scored was scored against the team, but not the goaltender, same as when a goaltender is pulled at the end of the game and the opponents score into the empty net.  I don't know what the rule is for counting Fucale's effort as a game shutout or not if he/the Caps don't give up another goal.  Certainly it isn't a shutout in the team statistics.  But it sure seems as though Fucale still has his shutout streak "as a goaltender."

I certainly hope that Fucale keeps his "shutout streak" going long enough into the 3rd period so that the NHL can gnash their teeth over this one!!!

I think he'll continue to add minutes to his streak but won't get credit for a you know what.

Well, hahahahahahahaha, I just looked at the game and he is now through more than half through the 3rd period, still having let in no goals.  So the issue is joined!!!!  I'll bet the NHL is going to tie itself in knots over this one, even if Fucale lets in a goal before the game is over!!

Mickstix:
He'd already broke the record before the own goal. (20 minutes last night)
