Reasonable for him and his age, but I'm a little surprised the Caps would not offer him close to that (not that I would). He must have wanted to move to go play for Seattle....either that or he figures he has enough Cup rings already and he likes the Seattle scene.

Caps now have $1.85m remaining in Cap room. That does not include any relief from Hags or Backy should the Caps choose to use it.
$1.85m doesn't buy any real talent at Center or on D. I'm figuring the Caps get one more bargain journeymen D and then maybe give some young guys a shot at playing this year.

Hags own comments would indicate he is done in the NHL. I expect Johnson-Fjallby to continue to fill that spot without a problem. Backy, who the ef knows. Statistically it’s not likely he will return and if he can it’s highly likely that’s 12 months from now. Caps management needs to be thinking about a short term replacement, if not a long term one. I don’t see a #2 center in Hershey in the short term. By the time a long term center would be ready in Hershey this team is going to need a couple of them. How much longer are Eller, Dowd and Kuzy going to be around?
