interesting, maybe the Caps pick him back up...

https://novacapsfans.com/2021/10/10/buffalo-sabres-waive-former-washington-capitals-forward-axel-jonsson-fjallby-due-to-visa-issues/#comments

found this in the buffalo media...

"When a player is traded, his visa carries over to his new club. However, a player must reapply for a visa if he is claimed via waivers."

still no word on who dropped the ball on renewing his visa

So I guess TVR is the next man up? Is Kempney actually "rehabbing" something or just getting sent to the minors cause he's not NHL caliber at the moment?

Mick -
I assume it's a combination of rehab / reconditioning and a salary slide dump of just over $1 million, if I remember correctly.  There's a max amount you can dump sending someone down.

Although I did read Ovi was spotted walking around the bench area yesterday, with no brace, no wrap, no limp.. Still not on the ice today and may miss a game or two. Here's what the lines were today:

I suppose you could take this to mean Ovi will be/is expected to be in the lineup on Wednesday? Why else would they assign McMichael to Hershey?

I would assume the same, but even at that seems strange.  Aren't we short a center?  Does that mean Lapierre is the last man standing?
And with Backy out, which we knew would be the case, don't we have room for McMichael AND Lapierre?  NVM - forgot about Ovie

Ovi  Kuzy   Willie
Mantha  Eller  Spronger
Sheary  Lapierre  Oshie
Hags  Dowd  Hathy

And....What "additional" transactions could they expect to make by tomorrow?

and...
Don't you normally carry 22-23 man roster EVEN if they guys don't get a sweater?

12 skaters, 6 D and 2 G is only ...... 20  (sorry, had to get my shoes off there)  :snicker:

guys on IR don't count and with Backy on IR (Is he actually on IR?), then his salary don't count against the cap which means we got room for McMichael, Maelstrom, Kempney, Pilon, Irwin,...hell anybody they want up to 23 players.  With Backy out, salary cap is not an issue.

This makes (a little) more sense.. Not sure how we could send McM down to be cap compliant today and bring him back on Wed and -still- be compliant, but what do I know? I don't even know what a kicking motion is anymore..  :raspberry:

that's why I waited to do a GDT, when I looked earlier OV was still questionable

Some of us are just premature exciters.

I figured there you were waiting on the Caps to actually post a lineup...so knowing them maybe by 7pm or so.

Lavy said Ovie is gametime decision so hell we'll see when we see.  I wonder if that's why they put Lappy at 3C and left McMichael to maybe fill in for Ovie.
