I think they can do it after the fact and effective from day one, but not doing it now makes me wonder to see if they are waiting to see if it is going to be longer.
I tried to look it up and all I found was it was a minimum of 7 days :huh:
found it - IR does NOT reduce cap it, but allows the roster spot to be replaced. Has to be Long Term IR to remove cap hit. LTIR is minimum 10 games and 24 days (as we saw with Backy), so now we know why they have not opted for that yet.
