Boston had a major advantage this season with thier cap space, they were/are able to bring in multiple guys to fill in for injured players. The Caps were walking wounded when the playoffs started.

Meh.... I would argue that Boston had two major advantages this year. The NHL and their refs.
Is it just me or do they seem to get worse avery year? I mean, is it just me, or were they especially bad this year...?

Boston was able to rest 10 of their starters for the final game of the season against the Caps. The Caps were lucky if they could bring up two replacements at a time, they played quite a few games with 11 and 6 on the ice because there wasn't cap space to bring anyone else in. The Caps were playing injured, not hurt. There is a difference.
As far as officiating goes... no, it didn't appear worse than normal. If you ignore the NHL picking on Wilson.
