Nah, we're so tight up against the salary cap that we can't bring in a host of players, even for one day.

We got like 9 million in cap space with Kuzy and Sammy on the Covid list?

I said earlier Ovie has no reason to play stats- wise, but actually with one goal he would tie Marcel Dionne for 5th place with 731 goals.


And it would be Ovie's 25th of the season....If anyone cares about the 25 goal mark.

Covid players count against the cap hit.  Which is stupid.  But otherwise teams (like Caps) would be loading up on players with "Covid protocols" just to reduce their inflated caps.
The Covid players do not count as against (or part of) the 23 man roster, but they do count against the Cap hit.


If they actually moved them to Taxi squad they don't count as cap hit but I doubt you can move a covid protocol player to the taxi squad


So basically it does come down to the fact that the Capitals have ZERO cap space.  Like less than zero.  Otherwise they could bring up some guys from AHL.
