I saw that and wondered how they will suit up enough bodies to man a team.  I guess if you move everyone off the taxi and bring up a bunch of AHL guys...


Too bad the Caps can't do the same.  All these (hopefully) minor injuries being nursed could use an extra couple days off.  I think playing Ovi is silly unless they just want to get him some real game ice time.  Not like he's playing for any type of record or points or goals or anything.
Sure hope Vitek gets his game on.  He had a streak earlier in the year where he was really good.  Lately he's been fine, but not....really good.  Not sure what's happening with Sammy at this point.   Someone posted a couple games ago Caps need a new goalie coach and I think I agree.  Vitek has the skills, but most of what's wrong with his game is fundamentals I think.  Like when he gets to low and leaves the top 6" of net open - or when he's completely out of position way to often.  Those things could be fixed.

BTW - Dillon, Dowd, Hathy, Hags are the only 4 Caps who have played all 55 games so far this season.  I would expect to see all four of them tonight.  That's good on Hags - hasn't he had injury problems in the past?  He's not exactly a big physical guy.  (Now If only he could score on a breakaway)

Boston - only Ritchie has played 55 games this year.

I said earlier Ovie has no reason to play stats- wise, but actually with one goal he would tie Marcel Dionne for 5th place with 731 goals.


And it would be Ovie's 25th of the season....If anyone cares about the 25 goal mark.

Covid players count against the cap hit.  Which is stupid.  But otherwise teams (like Caps) would be loading up on players with "Covid protocols" just to reduce their inflated caps.
The Covid players do not count as against (or part of) the 23 man roster, but they do count against the Cap hit.


If they actually moved them to Taxi squad they don't count as cap hit but I doubt you can move a covid protocol player to the taxi squad


So basically it does come down to the fact that the Capitals have ZERO cap space.  Like less than zero.  Otherwise they could bring up some guys from AHL.
