Back before Game Over Green was traded, everyone had the same opinions of him as they do Carlson. That tells me, among many other things, Carlson is expendable. More precisely, his contract is.

I realize he has a high salary, probably a bit too high but he is a valuable asset to this team. I don't think he could be easily replaced. To replace him with a similar player you would be paying a similar salary.
And replacing him might mean losing some team chemistry. He fits in well with this team. I wouldn't mess around with it.
I'm not a big Carlson fan but I think he is going to be here awhile.

Wait whut. He's over paid?

Well duh

Exactly why he should NOT be protected in the upcoming draft. If he truly is this perennial Norris candidate, then Seatle will take that contract. Which will give the Caps the room needed to resign everyone else plus another top Dman.

Also why he never should have been given $10m

I do agree that he shouldn't have been given that kind of money. That's what makes him almost unmoveable.

oh, one more thing then I'm done beating this horse

Every. Single. Time. you change a player you change the team chemistry.

What do you want me to say? I never would have signed him to that deal. Blame GMBM for that. But we are probably stuck with him.
